- This movie is incredible for the amount of sarcasm and attitude everyone has. It feels like being with your close friends and everyone is just tearing you apart with roasts, but its done out of love - except for the one person who actually hates you, but learns to love you by the end of the movie for no reason. If you like having your self esteem utterly destroyed by the wrath of an extravagantly well-dressed middle-aged billionaire, then The Devil Wears Prada is your kink- I mean movie.

For most of the scenes in the office, Emily can be seen running around, because she thought it would be true to her character to always be moving around doing something.
She stated in the beginning that she doesn't want to stay for long, this is only an opportunity that she shouldn't miss and would look really good in her resume. That's why she left after a year and Miranda also helped her get the job that she wanted in the end🥺
Also team Cory for the Bday situation; at that point it was still her job that needed attention. She’s still new and on shaky ground, knew it sucked that she wasn’t able to get home, brought him a peace offering and I’m sure would’ve made it up to him. He had a tantrum.
He is the villian
I'm not a fan of Nate, but I don't think he was a villain as much as I think their priorities were no longer aligned. She was growing in a different direction. I would have preferred her to make peace with Nate at the end of the movie, but not get back together with him. Personally, I would have liked to have seen her and Niles celebrate her new job with her chic new style.
My guy, she has her phone on her all the time she couldn't text him and say "I'm so sorry I cant make your party, I have to work late. I'll make it up to you"? She kept saying over and over again "I'll be there I'll be there I'll be there" knowing full and goddamn well after some point she was not going to be there. Nate SUCKS but like, Andy isn't completely in the right. Even if it is your job you can still text your partner and explain what's going on instead of just not showing up when you said that you would. Like, let's be so for real right now 😂
Emily's friend is a real Brazilian fashion model, Giselle. Her one stipulation for being in the movie was that she did not want to be a model.

This probably won't surprise you: most of the designer clothes seen in the film are real. It's one of the most expensively costumed movies ever made.

The direction Stanley Tucci was given for his reaction to Miranda's betrayal: pretend like he was nominated for an Oscar, and someone else's name got called.
Have to hand it to them on this one; it is sort of endearing how Nick is reacting to all of the “fat” shaming to Anne’s character, I was hysterical when he was like “there’s no WAY she’s a 6, she’s so skinny she’s definitely a 2!!” Bc the sentiment is there, but without the toxic knowledge of the fashion industry and women’s vanity sizing. A 6 is still SO small. I used to model a size 4/6 and I was literally underweight. It’s insane how the industry looks at women’s sizes.
Yesss exactly, I’m tall and same, I modelled and was skinny as a 6. Men just don’t know sizes at all 😅
I literally had to pause it when he said that. a six is so small and it literally made me mad about how they were talking about sizes. I legit had to leave the video.
@@veganful7103 lol it’s so funny though bc Nick KNOWS that Anne Hathaway is skinny, he just doesn’t realize that she probably is a 6, because the industry is so fucked that it really makes it seem like six is massive. Like the joke of her being skinny but called by her (small) size as some sort of warped fat fobia but against a rather small girl, went RIGHT over his head bc fashion and media reallyyyyy makes it seem like a six is big if you don’t know any better 😂

He was saying “that’s crazy she’s so skinny she’s not a six” because just like in the movie, society bizarrely believes the fashion industry’s size and beauty standard. To someone that doesn’t understand women’s sizing, it WOULD seem like a 6 is relatively large based on vanity sizing and the way women’s sizes are portrayed both in the movie, and in reality. Just ironic that it went over his head 😂

Here's how good Streep is in this film: before they started filming, she told Hathaway she was perfect for the role, and that it would be the nicest thing she'd ever say to her. She stayed in character on and off set for most of their time filming.

A lot of people always debate Andrea’s friends or the people in the business but i like that you guys point how from the beginning how she didn’t really deserve the job at first lmao. And realistically someone like her would never get it. All she did was whine until she was called out on her bs, how she is not even making the effort to at least understand the industry she willingly decided to work in (under the biggest name) and still plays victim. She was mistreated, but she was often mocked for her lack of knowledge over the industry she is working for. Absolutely most people side with her (including me first few times i watched it) and i love that you guys give respect to the industry by recognizing that not anyone can do it. If you don’t know shit about it or are uninterested on it, why be there? How did she get the job behaving like that?

I like to think the ending hinted verrrry subtly that Nate might be closer to on the outs than we thought.
How? With the clothes Andy is wearing. No, she's not wearing designer clothes anymore, but she's not wearing her old clothes either.
Because THAT'S the real impression the job left on her: finally understanding the importance in putting some effort into your appearance, even if it's only for yourself.

Okay so to me Andy and her BF had agreed that she’d only do this job for a year. They mentioned it several times. So for this shitty job that’ll launch Andy’s job she can’t miss one bday?? He’s a mid level Chef at most and has no say in what he does during the day. So why is he so grump?
Also the friends were huge critics until Andy gave them free stuff she shouldve dropped them all honestly.

I LOVE that the boys recognised the toxic behaviour of the boyfriend in regards to his girlfriend's career. My partner would put up with everything for the whole damn year if it meant, at the end of the year, I could get into my dream job. This guy was huge red flags and it pissed me off so much. It also tried to demonise Women in positions of Power in a multi million/billion dollar company, i hated the message this movie tried to convey and I think Anne, Emily and Meryl did a really good job with a shit script.
Hell no, if your partner puts their career over you to the point that they don't even make it to your birthday, that's bullshit and they should be dumped immediately
@@maddyc2412 That's an interesting take. Personally, I would never want my partner to put their job in jeapordy for a day that happens every single year. I'd rather have the financial stability any day. Bonus points that this job is their stepping stone to their dream career.

Tbh i dt like the ending too and i loveee the movie and especially emily lol , I always get angry at the boyfriend for not supporting her career and all he did is make fun of her and blame her every time she had to do what’s best for her , while she supported him and left her job for him

You know why the assistants all end up the same way? Because they all treat the job the same way. Like it's just a stepping stone towards the career they actually want. So she takes a chance with Andi because she thought she'd be the one to be okay with the job. And lo and behold, she's treating it the same as everyone else.

On eof the reasons that the film had the ending it did, is that the book was written about someone's (alleged) experiences of working in fashion. Evryone thinks it's Anna Wintour of Vogue. I like how the film is actually better and turns it more faustian, with Anne Hathaways character choosing whether to sell her soul or not

Now you know why gays loved this film. Ann Hathaway chose happiness over what she is good at. The ending is really her becoming a journalist for labor union issues and the American working class. She’d be reporting on the Hollywood writer’s strike currently in effect.

@@videohistory722 : Well, make it a trilogy, because that is how it is stated in the first one. The third will have her cover the story of mail-order-brides, and hopefully the character has a raising of consciousness moment, and writes solely on social issues from that point forward. There, the bridge is now connected.
I definitely think you guys weren't in the mindset for this movie at first and reduced it a lot plot wise but there were some phenomenal acting scenes and line deliveries that I hope you actually took in, especially from Meryl Streep. Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci also delivered great performances. I'm so y'all reacted to it cuz this is legit my #1 favourite movie ❤
