2017 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT Quick Test, Jeff Ware

The KTM 1290 Super Duke GT is one of the most exciting touring bikes ever produced, at least we think it is! With 173hp and 144Nm on tap and a RbW system that incorporates traction control, engine braking control, riding modes, cruise control, quickshifter and more, plus combined ABS and semi-active White Power suspension - it really is a weapon. Throw in touring comfort and luggage space and you have a great package that is only 205kg dry. We recently had a quick spin on the bike and came away impressed. We should have a full review up before Spring.

Got me my 17 gt couple days ago
Last few bikes( just to give you my preference and perspective) were Ninja1000sx fjr1300 Tuono v2
And I was looking for a bike to be in between the Tuono and the fjr. I thought it would be ninja, but that bike being as fast and as capable just wasn't existing. This KTM however is the right mixture of practical and fun machine. Love it !

Hi Jeff, do you think it's slower or less nimble than the Super Duke R?

Hi there - yes only due to the weight and ergonomics. The Super Duke R is sportier but they share the same engine specifications basically. However in terms of outright speed and handling, the Super Duke R has an advantage. This is still amazing for a touring bike - insane actually! Jeff.
