My flight is international with a stop in between to my final destination. So I was planning on using my stroller for the 3 year old in case his feet get tired or gets sleepy. Have you had any experience flying far with them alone?

But honestly I have only been on short flights and no transit in between... so in your case I guess it's better to take the stroller, it will surely be helpful... No... infants, as in under 2 yrs that travel on your lap, are charged around 10% and above 2 yrs get their own seats for around 75% of the adult fare... charges may vary depending on the airline but roughly around this much...

Children 2 years and above are not allowed to travel as lap infants, so you have to pay for their seats. Most of the airlines have different ticket charges for children, lower than adult ticket costs. You can check and confirm with the airline.

Most of the airports have priority for moms travelling alone with young kids... so if you are at check in, immigration, security checks, boarding, look for a representative around and inform them that you are travelling alone with kids and request priority... inshallah they will allow it... I have always traveled without car seats since my elder one was 2 months... I don't think there is any compulsion to take car seats with you on the flight but if you wish to carry one it's good to check with the airline directly...
