The bathroom scene is still my favorite of season 3. You could feel the anxiety Robin had with coming out and the wave of relief washing over her when Steve accepted her and then criticized her choice in women.
It sucks that when Steve finally got over Nancy and found a girl he liked - one he genuinely liked, got to know and wanted to be with, not just some fling he could also casually hang around with from time to time - she turns out to be gay. I think the beauty of Robin's story from the beginning is that most, not all, but most of the viewers thought that she was this outcast who didn't get noticed by Steve and that she wanted to be with Steve when in actual reality, some part of her wanted to BE Steve because all the girls noticed him, not her. Steve accepting Robin for who she is is a great moment, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. But goddamn, do I want this guy to find love. Steve deserves it.
I love that Steve's reaction to Robin coming out to him and confessing her crush on Tammy Thompson was to basically tell her she could do better than her.
Nate Anderson it wasn’t. He likes robin so he was playing it off like “meh she’s alright” in a comedic way it’s something people have done a lot in movies and shows
I really love that the writers made them into best friends. All boy-girl relationships in this series end up as couples, except the Scoops Troop... They should adopt Will in their troop 😆
*I was obsessed with you* I know the writers made it that way to mislead the audience, but I appreciate how it actually means that Robin looks up to Steve, and now they're best friends
Tbf, she made it clear in her next line after that, that she was obsessed with the things he had, not really him. “We still just want to be popular, accepted, normal.” Since she felt like an outcast because of her sexuality, she just wanted to be seen as normal and to have people like her like people did with Steve. At the time, since we didn’t know her sexuality, I assumed she was just a social outcast in school. Them being love interests seemed too obvious, so I always viewed them more as friends from the start, and this scene was one of the ones that made me sure they wouldn’t end up together by the end. I didn’t predict that she was gay though.
The fact that steve an robin accepted each other just as who they are, with steve knowing robin was lesbian when no one else probably did and robin knowing how much of a crush he had on nancy and the fun they have together is just
I love this scene even more now knowing how closed off she is about this part of herself and she felt safe enough with Steve to share that. What was once petty hate and jelousy turned into a genuine love between the two it's really sweet.
Yeah I noticed that too. Steve clearly internalised that interaction with Nancy because it really hurt him, so "bullshit" when he says it carries a lot of baggage.
I knew from the second she spoke she was going to be lesbian and I was so scared at being misrepresented and let down but god , Maya Hawke blew me away. She’s so dedicated to Robin as a character - it genuinely means so much to me as a lesbian myself. Representation matters so much , just as well as the reaction to it. Steve made me really proud and him accepting Robin so quickly is a great show of character to how far he’s come. You can clearly see it’s not something he’s encountered before and that he’s let down on some level but at the same time - Robins his friend. The first true one he’s ever had. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had never felt that level of trust before. I really just love this friendship. Netflix did amazing on S3 - I hope S4 holds up to it.
I'll never shut up about the music in the bathroom scene. It's so amazing and fits so well with the scene, how the beat keeps increasing and getting louder and louder the more they laugh.
“You see that table over there to your right?” Steve: *looks left* Steve, I love ya buddy, but your strength definitely lies in STRENGTH, and unfortunately not in INTELLIGENCE

Steve accepting Robin for who she is is a great moment, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
But goddamn, do I want this guy to find love. Steve deserves it.
STEVE’S “OH” AT 6:27 IS THE SOFTEST THING IVE WVER HEARD
Robin: She wouldn't stop staring at you.
Steve: MrS. cLiCk????¿¿¿¿??¿????
That scene cracked me uppp😭🤣
I love that Steve's reaction to Robin coming out to him and confessing her crush on Tammy Thompson was to basically tell her she could do better than her.
Nate Anderson it wasn’t. He likes robin so he was playing it off like “meh she’s alright” in a comedic way it’s something people have done a lot in movies and shows
Steve is the definition of how to write a characters growth
Straight adorkable himbo + cool lesbian is an awesome duo
robin’s bandaid is underrated it stuck with her the whole season
IKR
The entire season lasted the time of a week in Hawkins. It’s not that impressive.
@@supernintendoid9708 when i have a bandaid i need to change it every 2 hours it sucks at staying on
I really love that the writers made them into best friends. All boy-girl relationships in this series end up as couples, except the Scoops Troop... They should adopt Will in their troop 😆
Arielle so he can play d&d with them?
@@vv1034 ummm, no one was talking about if will is gay or not in this thread.
@@liamr3362 lol sorry
@@vv1034 whoever wrote that line i personally beleive intented for will to not be sure of his sexuality But tbh doesn't matter what he is to me
I just assumed he was aromatic
I’m loving their dynamic together! Platonic male/female relationships are always so good/funny.

*I was obsessed with you*
I know the writers made it that way to mislead the audience, but I appreciate how it actually means that Robin looks up to Steve, and now they're best friends
I think this mislead and misdirection was kind of crappy... like I didn't root them as a couple but this was a real bait and switch..
I didn’t predict that she was gay though.
yeah no that's not how it works, she said that because that was the past idiot 🤦♂️

“robin and steve best scenes”
*yet it should be all of their scenes*
Him saying everything’s bullshit is a callback to Nancy season 2

Me too!! It’s called “The First I Love You” I think
These two elevated each other. All their scenes are great.
“You see that table over there to your right?”

Steve, I love ya buddy, but your strength definitely lies in STRENGTH, and unfortunately not in INTELLIGENCE
all i want is for robin to be happy. and i just want to see maya hawlke smile and laugh forever.
Robin was one of the best parts of Season 3. I love her and can't wait to see how she evolves in the next season.
She evolved great tbh
Her voice saying “steve” at 6:47 💔
My favorite type of friendship, a lesbian and her emotional support himbo
When she asks him how many children is he friends with in my head I was like “ almost all of his friends are children” lol
For that matter so was his thought too lol
I mean just the look on his face when she says it
Well after he ditched the toxic friends he didn't seem to have others his age he could stand... besides Robin.
Every moment from this two is the best

Can we just take a minute to deep sorry for Steve? He gets beaten up badly every season 🤷🏼♀️
Steve has one of the best redemption arcs ever
