    I’ve carried off duty 99% of the time daily for almost 30 years and this Shield Plus is it for me. I recently chaperoned a middle school trip to DC and Philadelphia. I wore this in a CompTac belly band. I wore this combo while walking 8-10 miles a day in heat and humidity with zero issues in regards to comfort and concealability. If you’re considering this gun, you won’t regret it.

    I bought my Shield Plus last year for CCW because I like the way the pistol feels in my hands. It's a little bit larger than the other "micros" in this class of pistols, but it shoots great and carries like a gun smaller than it is. I live in Florida where it's very humid and the pistol shows no signs of corrosion from daily carry. The trigger is one of the best I've felt on a striker fired pistol.

    The Gen 1 Shield was my first carry gun from 7 years ago. I loved that gun and never saw a reason to fall to the siren call of the P365, the Hellcat, the Ruger Max, or any of the others. But when the Plus came out...bam...it hooked me and I sold my faithful Gen1 and grabbed this one immediately. Love this gun and no looking back.

    • @JacksonWalter735
      @JacksonWalter735 Před 3 lety +10

      I know what you mean. I loved my original Shield (especially at the $280 I paid when S&W used to bombard us with constant rebates). Never felt the need to really upgrade when the Shield still works well. Sure the trigger isn't great and the grip texture could be better, but it's tiny and still holds 8+1. When I got my girlfriend into guns, we tried out the Sig P365 and the Hellcat. They were both great and tempted me for a while, but I didn't feel the need to upgrade while my girlfriend bought her shiny new gun. Fast forward to when the Shield Plus came out, I finally gave in to the microcompact trend. I love the grip texture, the slightly larger grip just fits my hands so much better, and the trigger feels even better than my larger P320. With the current Covid/inflated market, I'm getting a lot more for selling my original Shield as well with all the new gun owners out there. Heck I actually made money compared to how much my dad paid for my Shield back in early 2013. Spending just a little more got me the Shield Plus and I don't regret it at all (especially considering all the lights and holsters I have still works with the Shield Plus).

    Bought one this week. Love it! The trigger is the best of all the micro 9’s! I went purchase a new p365 and I found a “used” shield plus at a very good price. I left the lgs with the shield plus. Got it home and took it down to clean and the pistol appears unfired. Great pistol! You can’t go wrong with this pistol! Small gun that shoots like a big pistol!

This is one of the easiest to shoot and accurate pistols I’ve ever shot. Just picked up one with the optics cut. It’s the perfect sized for CCW, feels great in the hand, shoots like a bigger gun and has probably the best out of the box micro 9 trigger out there. Just a phenomenal little firearm.

    Thanks for the solid reviews. I've had the opportunity the last couple months to look for the replacement of my EDC. Went to an indoor range to rent the Max 9, the P365, the Hellcat & the Plus.
    The Plus was the winner. All four shot fine, I got the optics ready version, the trigger seems better in dry fire, couldn't say that I tell much difference during operation, but in the end it was the grip.

      Put the $10 Pearce Grips extension on the 10 round and your pinky will be supported. And it's still shorter than the 13 round mag.

    I just recently got the Plus, and I agree, it feels great in my hand, I really like it. I like a manual safety in addition to the trigger safety, I'm used to my 1911 and have no problem remembering to use it. However I wasn't crazy about the Plus' safety, it was too flush to get a purchase on, and it was stiff. I saw a video where the guy used Loctite gel superglue and extended it out, and I did what he did, and I'm totally satisfied with it now, it's not sticking out a bunch, just enough so I can reliably disengage it. The guy in the video stated he's fired over 1,000 rounds without it coming off, so it should be OK.
    I also got a Pearce extension for the 10 round mag that has a lip on it, and that was great too, it allows my pinky a firm hold. I wish they made one for the 13 round mag too, the lip is a nice addition. In fact I will carry it with the 10 round mag loaded and the 13 as backup because it feel so good with that lip on the front.
    I'm now waiting for my holster to arrive so I can start carrying it.

    I have a Shield 1.0. I have handled the Shield Plus in my local gun shop. I haven't decided to buy one, yet. TBH I have 11 single and double stack 9mms already. I haven't decided if I need another.
    That said, I have large hands and to me the little bit of extra thickness actually feels better than the thinner Shield 1.0 and I cannot imagine it would make it any harder to conceal.
    I think S&W is going to sell boatloads of these.
    I have heard that S&W is going to discontinue the original Shield...AND, at the moment the original Shields are selling for very good prices, while the Shield Plus is selling above the MSRP where I have seen it. So..if you're thinking about getting an original Shield, this may be a good time.

      I bought the Shield Plus several months ago, and It is my favorite carry gun ever. I paid slightly below msrp, but my local dealer is selling them now for $479 with a couple of extras. I think they will probably settle in at around $429-$449. Great gun.

    • @garyK.45ACP
      @garyK.45ACP Před 3 lety +3

      @@ou812true5 Here, locally they are in dealers displays at $549-599. I haven't shopped around much because I am not buying one right now. I don't doubt I could find a better price if I searched.
      Yes, great gun. If I didn't already have a Shield and 10 other 9mm handguns, with 6-15 round magazines, (and a couple dozen more in various calibers .32 ACP-.45 ACP) suitable for concealed carry, I would jump all over the Shield Plus. As a gun for a first time buyer or even 2nd or 3rd, yeah, definitely get one.
      I am not one to trade guns (which is why they keep accumulating) so I would have to see a reason to spend the $$$ to get the Shield Plus over the Shield I already have. I'm pretty good at imagining "reasons", which is why I have so many CC handguns right now, but 3 extra rounds (with standard mags) doesn't do it for me. Right now.
      I reserve the right to change my mind and buy one whenever I imagine a reason. 😜
      TBH I am currently adding to my collection a lot of classic rifles, handguns and shotguns that no one is paying attention to. Now that the stimulus money has burned it's way through people's pockets, I am getting great deals on older firearms that people are unloading to but the Shield Plus. 😁 Just added a super clean condition 1951 Savage Model 99 .300 Savage yesterday for under $500.
      Enjoy your new pistol, I am sure you will like it.

Fun as s hit to shoot, too. I'm good with my little Walther PPS M2, as well. I wear extra magazines. If I can't get a self-defense job done with those I deserve to lose. I have the S&W M&P15 for the civil war. I know I should probably buy a back-up for that action.
