Phone charging depends on how powerful, big is your solar panel, Use a big solar panel to charge faster. This is a ~.6 Watt solar panel it is not sufficient enough to charge a phone. charging rate near about 3% per hour But it can be a life saver if don't have any other option.

The author needed to buy a panel the size of a matchbox. :) In addition, the current needs to be measured on a real load, i.e. directly in the smarphone charge circuit. He measured on a short circuit where the voltage fell almost to zero. :) I bought 50 solar cells 52x52mm for 10 bucks on Aliexpress, but without covering the resin so they are cheap. I connected 10 pieces in series - in the sun they give a little more than 5 volts, so stabilization is not needed, I connect directly to the tablet. And you will not believe the charge current in the tablet circuit is 400 mA! I made a detailed video a couple of days ago.
5 years later it will charge in 1 second and discharge in 1 second

to those that are cracking jokes about "wow 5 hours later and only 10%" these panels are for emergency only what if you are lost on the woods and you have 1% battery life (and your powerbank is dead) i bet you would say wish i had a little solar panel to get a charge and call for help....if you want to charge your phone quick do it with your damn wall adapter, you get 2400mah compare to this 0.200mah (maybe even less without direct sunlight) because a 14 watt panel will get a decent charge of 1A+, i rather carry this little panel on my back pocket than a huge panel that i would be carrying like a backpack just to say "yeah i get 2.4A on this baby"

get a thick flip cover case and cut apart from it so that you can hide the buck converter, use a 5v 2 amps USB converter add a battery charger module with a small battery all built in the case, and add the solar panel on the flip part (please reply if you liked the idea)

You need bigger solar panel. A 5 watt version will charge your phone with in 3 hours. this one .1 watt. not enough to full charge your phone so use multiple of them in parallel

All About Tech Because that solar panel must be 200mAh and a fully charged Smartphone battery is around 1400 to 2600 mAh so you will need like 6 of those solar panels to fully charge it... there are more efficient solar panels that gives to you 600mAh so 2 or 3 of them will fully charge it in an hour.

Very good concept but almost useless in real life. The phone drains more power maintaining itself (network, background processes) than the energy it receives from the solar panel.
