Fun looking project but if power was down that long id have other things id be doing first and knowing some people and their proximity to the power plants and how fast main lines get fixed. Common outage here = squirrel in transformer typically 2 or 3 hours huge ice storm well 2 to 3 on main after that they get ya going as they get to you up to 3 weeks later so in theory a guy with an all day outage thats on the main line of the nuke plant probably just got nuked

@@jodifiori7930 yep as i was implying it depends how close you are to the plant and what priority level the company places your area in . Like the guy living less than a mile from the nuke plant would have better service. Simply put the only thing that shuts it down for more than a day is a plant problem still alot of people survived Chernobyl but yea you wouldn't worry about power at your house so much in that case as you'd leave and not return. Dams can be a bad event as well it doesn't end the world or country but sure can wipe out a town

Buy about 4 or 5 solar panels and a long wheel-barrow type frame to mount them on, add a couple of deep cycle batteries and a 1500 Watt inverter and a 10 Ga extension cord and keep the fridge running. If you have a Bunn Velocibrew coffee pot, this takes priority: brew a pot of coffee while the water inside is still hot, THEN get out the solar.....

I used one of those lithium drill packs to jump my boxster s last year (OH BLASPHEMY) :)
They are just a bunch of 18650 cells... I feel cheated knowing how long 18650's have been in use and the whole "oh yeah, these work fine for electric cars and backup power stations, you can even salvage them!"
Now I need to figure out what to do with all these brand new 18650s i have in storage :D
As always, great vid... glad there's 3-year old content still relevant to what i'm doing to keep me entertained in times of frustration :)
