    I carry the g9 in my P365 in both 9mm and 380 versions. I use Underwood Extreme Defender 68 gr +p in my G19.

    When I'm in the woods hunting or hiking, I use the G9 in my P320 M18. I'm alternating the external HP with their Woodsman shaped charge in a 21 rnd mag thinking they'll have good penetration on large predators.

    When they start releasing the G9 77gr version that they try to market to LEO and Military I'll be interested. AND if it performs as their demonstrations show. Until then, I'll keep running Critical Defense/Duty and my favorite 'gimmick' rounds, Liberty Civil Defense.

      Liberty & Pilgrim are basically the same ammo. Does not look like gimmick ammo.

    • @jamesdylan2446
      @jamesdylan2446 Před měsícem

      Yeah far from gimmick liberty is very destructive. I’ve seen it tested in person on gel a hog that was killed shortly before “nasty damage”. Also went straight through some body armor into gel. It doesn’t basically explode until soft tissue fills the hollow point. I’ve been asked plus seen lot of people who don’t know as much as they think talk about it breaking apart with armor or thick clothing. The ammo is insane. Gun is lighter to carry. Recoil calms a little. It’s my edc in 9 and 45. 45 does crazy damage. The 10 which I don’t have but brother and law does…that shit would take down King Kong lol. Ammo is far from a gimmick. Honestly anyone who says that just doesn’t know. Period. Even if they own it. Reality is most of us are never gonna need the ammo for what it’s meant for. Unless you live in Chicago. I live in a very low crime area. Don’t really need to carry. But I keep it in my car because I live by two gun ranges. I don’t work. So I stop by few times week. I also like the underwood stuff. But yeah. Liberty as you said is no gimmick.

    • @Arkancide
      @Arkancide Před měsícem +1

      @@jamesdylan2446 It's my everyday carry ammo. Plenty of fudds like to call it a gimmick, but I don't think it is.

    Hmmm, i wonder what these get out of the XL. Underwood's XD 68gr +p gets 1825 for me chronographed. 1915fps from the 4.3" zafiri precision threaded barrel.

  • @attisthecat
    @attisthecat Před 5 měsíci +3

    In defense situation how do you think this stacks up against typical hollow points. I could see police using this as they i would say more often have to shoot through objects, like windshields, glass, wood, etc. For normal civilian CCW, would this penetrate more than desired ?

    • @jason200912
      @jason200912 Před 5 měsíci +2

      It's better in every category imaginable.
      The only advantage of hollowpoints is they can be tuned for extra low 13" penetration by fiddling with the bullet weight and reducing the powder.
      Fluted ammo is barrier blind and will always perform the same even with barriers in the way. And it helps a ton that my 9mm fluted ammo is half the weight of hollows so it feels like a feather.
      If you're gonna stick with hollows regardless even when it's inferior in all caregories then barnes/dpx is the best for 9mm hollows (13.5" penetration), and federal and gold hollows is best for 380 (about 13", but wont always expand)

    Got to like that "Jello Jiggle" And we all know that shot placement is the key to maximizing the potential of any bullet. Got hand it to technological advances in CNC abilities to produce bullets like this and lehigh etc. The hitch in the giddy up is cost! Personally I would not stand in the way of any bullet. But, all the CNC solid copper bullets will probably not gain widespread use and thus lower the costs. And, let's face up....most people are not shooters but gun owners and gun owners do not pay particular attention to what they load their self defense weapons with. And, the # of shooters out there are probably not going to swayed to dropping their Federal HST - Speer Gold Dot - Winchester Ranger. And, these specialty ammo makers want LARGE contracts with LE agencies rather than selling ammo piece meal by a box here and there.

      Make conventional choices if you want conventional results. Traditional handgun wounds are inferior. Nice that someone is trying to change that.
      Why would you think the fluting would improve penetration? It creates drag while dispersing tissue.

    • @jason200912

      Underwood has the far superior loading but g9 has rhe better patented bullet. Sadly the g9 uses a very mild loading

      @@jason200912In what world is 1300+ fps for a 9mm round from a 3" barrel "mild"? 124gr Federal HSTs are 200 fps slower out of a longer barrel (rated at 4"). You're talking nonsense.
      Also, the G9 is a significantly heavier bullet than the Underwood.

    I’m so confused as to why it’s called a “hollow point”. I’ve always thought about the flowering as the advantage for hollow points.

    • @Firefuzz11
      @Firefuzz11 Před 9 měsíci +3

      It’s called an “external hollow point”. The design and high speeds push the fluid of the target away from the bullet and cause massive amounts of ripping and tearing as it tries to disperse the contents of its target.

      My last comment got removed. I'm not sure why, maybe becuz it involves the death of an animal. In any case, HPs are by definition cavities. So you can't have an external hollow point, it is a silly marketing gimmick. But the bullet does have impressive terminal ballistics and to me exhibits lower recoil as compared to maybe 115 grainers. G9 really should revamp their marketing.

    Why did they call it an “external hollow point”???? Based on its description you will go to prison for carrying this in NJ. Why didn’t they just call it what it is a fluted round. I feel like this could give the anti 2nd amendment nuts an opportunity to label all fluted bullets as “hollow points”.
