@@matimcfetridge needle sweep on both wound be nice and I like the lock unlock chirp as well mate 👍🏻
@Jay needle sweep can only be done on cars with highline clocks, can't be activated on all cars
@@whatsdavedone104 Yesh I found that out earlier. Can activate needle sweep on my 8V sline ( white one ) but not on the 8P sline. Apparently it’s only S3,RS3 on the 8P’s. Chirp thing works tho 👍🏻

Yeah its all built in you just have to enable it, got to admit I’m with Nade, I have the locking beep enabled but its not the nicest noise in the world :(

You can get cheaper OBD connectors and download fully unlocked versions of Carista 😉
Hey, great video, comment form over the pond from Norway, just bought myself a A3 1.9TDIe same as yours. and i also have this airbag symbol on my dash, i was reading the history of repair on my car today, and notised that it have had the climakompressor changed or something like that. i notised that you said that came on because you disassembled your glowbox, thinking that might be my issue to as they changed that, but if i remember correctly i do not have that key thing in there as you do. Do you know if that only come with S-line? or might it work to reset it like you did on your on my car too? sorry for a confusing comment, just hope you might know, as i have no idea :D I checked and they sell this in Norway too for like $40 so its a bargin pretty much, a friend of mine have another one that cost $600 or something, and just get a message "not compatible" when we try a airbag diagnostic on it, hehe.

With your coming home light you don't need to pull the main beam switch....if the switch is on auto and its dark welcome light and leaving home lights will active automatically....lights will come on in dark when car is unlocked and light will stay on for a set amount of time when you lock the car.
I don't have auto lights mate!
@Mati Mcfetridge in that case the carista customisation has done nothing....you just needed to pull the main beam before opening the door and welcome home lights would have worked

Just did my 2011 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI new fuel, cabin, and Air filters at 20k. Oil change every 10k new filter and oil bolt with washer and I run Amsoil 5w-30 diesel synthetic. After my mechanic changed it we noticed a oil cooler leak, so now I need new seals😢
You can set on&off the DRL with carista?
Hi Matt, love the A3 videos having a 8P TDI saloon myself. Don’t you need to prime the fuel filter again to remove airlocks to avoid damaging the High Pressure Fuel Pump
Do both my TDI’s same way mate. Never had an issue.

I've had golfs and now an A3 tdi when I change fuel filter I just flick the ignition a few times on first turnover. No issues careful on the fuel filter torx screws they're crap. I always have a spare it's my only motor.
@@matimcfetridge ok thanks mate. I’ve put off doing my fuel filter until now as I’ve worried about bleeding the fuel system.
Another awesome video mate. Can I ask, with Carista I can adjust the heavyness of the power steering but I have no idea if the plus + makes it heavier or lighter. Any idea fella?
I think you can to be honest, I'm sure it comes up with a warning on the app trying to discourage you from doing it though 😂
@@matimcfetridge It does warn you yes but I went ahead anyway and made the steering even lighter and tbh it's such a good mod to do.

Interesting video mate, looking to get an Audi A3 for my next car, what’s your opinion on the 1.8 Quattro version?
Cant really give an opinion mate as never driven one! Quattro sounds like less mpg to me though, unless you really need it 😂
I would also stress the fact that the diffs need service periodically just like DSG, Given the choice again I would probably go manual and FWD because of service costs, I do like the DSG though (s-tronic) and Quattro is great in mud or snow and if you want to do 0-60’s but in real world driving it will use more fuel and probably sap power.
Did you use this Carista to enable your cruise control after that install, or would it be possible to do so?
I used VCDS mate, don’t think you can do it with Carista, could be wrong though.
Hi pal, I have same model as you but my glovebox hinge has snapped off. What’s the best way to repair this?
Hi mate, couldn’t tell you to be honest. I would just get down to a breakers yard and get whatever part has snapped off!
Hey mate, just happened to have fixed this on my 8p today and noticed your comment, best way is to remove glovebox, glue hinge back together, buy little bracket repair kit on amazon and fit that, then remove the piston on the left-hand side of the glove box, disassemble it and lubricate it. Hope this helps!
Heard you enable the passenger mirror glass to drop when you put it in reverse as well
Believe you have to have something daft like memory seats for this!

Funny you say that as I had a bmw 330 before my A3 and that used to drop the passenger mirror when put in R, as long as the elec mirror adjustment was over in the L position, but I wanted this exact feature the other day

Hi mate, my lass used to have an A1 that you could activate needle sweep but doesn’t seem like an option for the A3 unfortunately :(
on the 8P generation only S3 and RS3 gauges are capable of setting needle sweep via VCDS, A3 have to be coded with eeprom if I am correct :(

I had the coming home and leaving home lights unlocked on my 8p a3 but doesn't work as I dont have auto lights.....how come it worked on yours as you have the same as me, DRL instead of AUTO lights
Before you open the door pull the headlight flasher stalk , the lights will activate when you open the drivers door
@@i2edbull yes I have tried that, it just flashes the xenon bulb and doesn't stay on

Itg filters break away and go into the engine. Bmc filters are what you want.

sadly .. mine worked .. after a few updates.. cant reach my OBD Wifi port.. :/

Unfortunately it happened so fast that I didnt manage to get any footage, and wasnt able to film any of the fabrication process etc
