I hate the position of the cupholder and the fact there's only one normal sized one 🤣🤣 Quite a common mod is fitting the USDM centre console cause you get 2 cupholders and they are in a different place (Part no - 8P1 863 241 6PS)... big money though!
I have an 8P Black edition with auto lights, walk to/from, DRL's and Xenon. I've also done the Andriod conversion, and reverse mutes the sound, now plucking up the courage to install the reverse cam. Great vids pal.
I've got adaptive DRLs, had to replace one when a motor failed on it, hope it doesn't happen to you, they cost £670 EACH! And that was fitting it myself!
@@matimcfetridge if I was you I’d leave it, even when wired correctly with good equipment there’s always a whine in the rear speakers. I tried many Chinese head units and xtrons but all the same problem. There was the smallest amount of whine but my ears could hear it and it had to go.

I have been owning an A3 2.0TDI sportsback quattro for 4 years now. Absolutely love it. Very nice to drive, very reliable, very good in the snow and ice. The things that I don't like are the damn broken armrest, stupid placing of the cupholders and the lack of a rear armrest Other than these small issues he car is great.
Bought an Audi A3 8PA for my first car, one thing I didn't like about it ( I think being a 5-door with a Bose System) is there isn't much rear storage on the passenger doors/ no storage behind the front two seats etc.
My pet peeve is I bought the 8p but with a cream material interior, triggers my OCD to high heavens trying to keep it clean😂and regards to the headlights I know it’s expensive but there’s always the option of programming the walk home system in, great vid👍🏼

On the 8p S3 my headlight switch has "auto" on it. Like you said turns dipped beams on when it becomes dark.. It is an option, maybe not on A3? Not sure why not. Nice video mate
Hate that the fenders rust and the piece next to the door the paint chips off. And the arm rest l i keep breaking clip that keeps it closed and if u drop something between seats good luck. If u put cheap tires in the rear the car will shake on highway so have to put good tires. Got them to knock 1/3 the price off mine when i bought it for that. Knew what it was immediately
I believe that the 5 door roof bars were an option as mine don't have them, and I have also seen others without. Been searching ebay for ages and still have have not found a pair.
I'm in the same boat I want them but can't find them and to fit the the head lyning needs to come out and you need to drill through the roof to bolt it!!!

Glad it's not just me with the water running off the roof in through the window! Nothing quite like being splatted in the face with cold water to wake you up on your drive to work 😳 I've got a 2010 3 dr quattro.
Mines the terrible position of the cup holders under the arm rest/right by your elbow when changing gear! Even the 12v socket on the centre console can get in the way if the spring flap is open
I've had my a3 for about a week and the handbrake is definitely stupid. The worst thing u didn't mention is that the radio on/volume button power icon spins with the knob so you can never use it or it won't be a 90°.
Mann for that hand break i felt that because I have a 09 5 door a3 with that same one and it’s the absolute worst. I literally built a habit of pulling the arm rest all the way and back down as soon as I enter my car and pull the break.
the front window wipers cant be lifted up without opening the bonnet which is abit annoying for me when it comes to cleaning the car, also its a small thing but the back of the front seats dont have any sort of pocket (mines a 5 door)

Oh so that's why my new android muted music when I put in reverse! I don't have parking sensors but I installed rear camera with android. So that was the first thing I did after installing android - to leave the music play while in reverse!

I need rear parking sensors. Had spinal infection and back surgery. Its hard to see reversing. If backed into so much shit. Had to replace the hatch and bumper chipped to shit.
I think only the big RNS-E radio mutes your music when selecting reverse. But there might be a way to code it. I don´t know for sure, but i think that you can change the volume of PDC by coding it. Maybe there´s a way to mute music while PDC is on. i´ll look into my A3 sportback
I also have an 3 door 8P... I am okay with all the things except the rear lights. I absoulutely hate´em ... need to get a spoiler on the roof to compromise the round look of the back
Put nice 15 inch or 16 in wheels on the car. My opinion it makes it look so much better. I have them on mine and looks good. I feel that 17s or 19s just make the car look odd. Sits to high my opinion.
The rear lights are a nightmare on my 5 door the plastic covers for them are made of shit material and the plastic goes completely fuzzy I’ve never seen one with clear ones
The main thing i hate about this car is they can easily get another 50 or 60hp out of it by not tuning it down and tuning it up. U can leave it stock and with just a tune get 50 or 60hp. Audi does this every car. No other car brand can u get more hp with just tune
Some good points in this thread, the armrest is annoying, the cupholders as well or lack there of. The sensors on mine do not dim them music as well. The DRL's not being able to have auto lights is strange as I have them on mine? Could this be a weird audi thing to have multiple specs? I have an S3 8P Face-lift so similar to yours
from what people have said, the auto light seem to be just my car! I have managed to get an auto light switch so will see if it changes anything or whether its a bigger job than it seems!
Water issue from the roof happened to me ahaha got an 07 5 door. Waxed up rained next day drove away put them down braked then there was a waterfall through all of them XD Made me laugh when you mentioned it
just want mention u should always use handbrake on auto, ive seen loads of auto gearboxes damaged because ppl leave in p mode only and the gear locking pin snaps then u loose p mode completely or damage hole box. also with vcds u can make radio of car go quiet when putting in reverse I’ve done it to mine as it used to wind me up as well lol. and my drls stay on for 20sec automatically when taking key out of ignition. double check ur settings i think it might be on carista were u can pick auto or manual leaving home lights.

@@matimcfetridge hi there yea i just got the eonon double din the all glass one with no buttons and trust me its amazing. i work in a car garage and have fitted loads of diffrent brands and makes and this one is by far the nicest most reliable and does everything and more that i need. id highly recomend it man.

Completely necessary! Did you notice when in heavy rain water coming from the windshield runs accross the left window and completely blocks your view to the mirror? Might be a problem of the left handed cars only. I hope the deflectors help with this too! Keep on the good work mate!

I have a 2007 Black 5 door with the VR6 and S3 alloys with fat feet. I agree with most of your niggles, but my biggest problem is the driving position. Im 6.2' and my angle gets cramp on long trips, so have to take the wifes Q5 instead.

Reason for the armrest blocking the handbrake is because of the switch of sides for uk market, The original design when in left hand drive configuration the handbrake is closer to the driver not being opposite end of centre console i am English so I am obviously a right hand drive guy but this approach saves VAG a hella lot of money not having to make 2 separate centre consoles basically there cheap bastards but is what it is lol no I do not agree with this approach I’m simply explaining why the corporate money machine inevitably waters down the designers approach causing silly issues such as ergonomics… 👍👌

Yeah totally agree with all of what you hate. Have a black edition and another couple of things you have missed is glovebox is a waste of time and it has no lock on it. Door pockets are useless and they should be like the Golf so you can actually get a drink bottle in there as what’s the point of having a cup holder underneath the bloody arm rest! Very poor design in my opinion and for a car of this class wasn’t cheap when new. Also dump the factory head unit as that is a pile of shite. I just bought an Xtrons as this made to fit the car. Not had any issues with it and seems to work well for little cost. Wish I had kept my MK6 GTI over the S3 I personally think it’s a way better equipped car and looks better as well.
That hand brake thingo is a drag also a touch of really stinking stupidity. The German car makers better get their act together. I mean, how hard is it to design a better cabin of plastic? If you need help, I can guide you in the right direction. Its not a simple swap over. Will need wiring adapter and VCDS.

On the Carista app you can set it to auto follow home lights as long as u leave the lights on in drl mode on the switch

u have to put wipers in change mode on the menu in in the car and they will go up half way so u can change wipers or clean window

We didn’t get the 3 door in the states, I have a 2.0 TDI 5 door a3 but they don’t come in awd or manual with the tdi

The armrest should have two positions, a low one and then a slightly higher one that doesn’t touch the handbrake when it’s pulled up a lot.

They are both nice looking for different reason but as a 3dr owner I definitely prefer the 5dr 😂
Yeah totally agree with all of what you hate. Have a black edition and another couple of things you have missed is glovebox is a waste of time and it has no lock on it. Door pockets are useless and they should be like the Golf so you can actually get a drink bottle in there as what’s the point of having a cup holder underneath the bloody arm rest! Very poor design in my opinion and for a car of this class wasn’t cheap when new. Also dump the factory head unit as that is a pile of shite. I just bought an Xtrons as this made to fit the car. Not had any issues with it and seems to work well for little cost.
Wish I had kept my MK6 GTI over the S3 I personally think it’s a way better equipped car and looks better as well.

That hand brake thingo is a drag also a touch of really stinking stupidity. The German car makers better get their act together. I mean, how hard is it to design a better cabin of plastic? Sorry I forgot. Cars are meant to self destruct in just 4 or 5 years, aren't they? BUUTT........(hate that) why did you buy or borrow that AUDI for?
