  • U.S. Naval Air Station Cubi Point was a United States Navy aerial facility located at the edge of Naval Base Subic Bay and abutting the Bataan Peninsula in the Philippines. When the base closed, the air station became Subic Bay International Airport and is still operating today.

I ate in AF, Marine and Navy mess halls from CA to WesPac. This one at Cubi was the best of them all. Kind of tugs the emotions remembering the good times there. I was in and around the Philippines from 1974-1981. In these Subic/Cubi vlogs there’s no people. Not like the old Clark.

Marine barracks were converted into hotels and expects that guests are just enjoying the seaside, others simply taking a rest away from the city. Thanks for the visits. 🙂

😄 especially the watch captain and the rest of the galley attendants shouting each other's just to finish shift during that occasion and hurriedly cross the shit river.

Thank-you for the memories. However, very sad to see how dilapidated majority of the base infrastructure had become. It was a very vibrant U.S. base and had employed thousands of local Filipinos with good jobs. I was an active duty enlisted (FIL-AM) U.S. Marine Corps aviation ordnanceman in NAS Cubi Pt and NAVMAG Subic Bay deployed from Okinawa, Japan and stayed from 1990 to 1991.

Pinoy US Navy here. Was there 1982-84 when the USS Midway would dock in Subic. Di yata tama yung mga building na tinuturo mo. Iba yung naaalala ko, and I was billeted in NAS Cubi Point many many times. For example, yung building na tinuturo mo na dating Navy Exchange, yun ang enlisted chow hall, and the Navy Exchange building was yung building sa tabi nun, tapat nung waiting shed for the shuttle bus going back to Subic main gate. But then again, baka nagbago sa panahon. Your memories are your memories, and you are entitled to them. So am I.

Marami ng nagbago sir, yun pong sinabi kong Navy Exchange Commissary at laundry ay nasa likod po ng EDF Cubi galley. Bale talikuran sila. Doon po ako nagtrabaho nung araw.

Just recently visited Cubi Point, been retired here in P.I. for 2 yrs. now, USN 86'-96'. Yes the barracks are now rented out apartments, the chow hall still stands but is closed and locked up. The Chapel is still a focal point and the monkeys still rule the grounds. ✌🏼

The chow hall is now a storage facility for the crown peak hotel's furnitures and equipments. 😃

Do you know if the Marine barracks buildings are still standing up there? We had 1 old building and one or two newer ones across the street from one another and walking distance to the officers club… I’m flying into Manila in a fews days and wondering if it’s worth the trip..? Semper FI..

Ron I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this . I have so many emotions and especially great memories right now . Its bitter sweet seeing how things have changed but on the other hand how so much is the same after 41 years ago . I truly appreciate you taking your time and efforts to show this to not only myself but all those that served and worked on base . I will share this with others that were there . My buddy John " Chico "Jimenez worked in the flight deli . Do you remember him ? I'd hang out back there and help him .every once in awhile . And the bus stop right in front where the bus would pick you all up to take you to the main gate . I rode it a couple of times when there was no taxis . I'm going to send you the photos I have that I shared with Grace and Roger . Thank you again for this trip down memory lane !

Nabulok na ang SBMA. Napabayaan na. Imbes na palusong ang nangyari paurong ang improvement. MAbuti pa ang Clark Air Base napanaltili yaa nila ang kagandahan nito at umunlad pa yata.
