This channel's backlog is a life-saver. Feels like I'll never run out of episodes. Thanks!
Hi
Same here.
And I find their catalog of videos to have a much higher rewatch value than the likes of AVGN, a channel which I have watched for close to the same amount of time.
Eventually I grew bored with the back log of AVGN content, and stopped rewatching the old stuff. I still check out the new episodes though.
But that hasn't happened with the ol' Sack... I click on new Sack 'sodes as soon as I hear the bell, and clearly I'm here now re-enjoying a classic!
I love how they showed their receipts when they bought their console at launch. Nice touch!!!
I didn't realize Blazing Lasers was a launch game. I love that game. It's beautiful and plays perfectly
"How about part 3 (luigis mansion) for NX?" Well sir your wish has been granted.
Lol, right?
its not and never was called "NX" its called the Switch
Oh the old days when the switch was the NX
@@WolfpackEntertainmentYT It's code name during production was NX
Dreamcast launch was unforgettable.
I only had enough for 1 game at launch: Hydro Thunder.... And that was part of the faulty batch of launch games *sob*. It took 3 visits to the mall to get a working copy as they sold out and had to wait for a resupply. My 2nd game was Ready to Rumble. Wish I would've got more into Power Stone earlier.
Wish I was there to be a part of it (I'm born in 2003, so that sucks for me)
I still have my T-Shirt. Launches are their own thing. This was my one and only; and I think it was great in spite of my rollercoaster of technical issues.
Wish I was at the launch of the Dreamcast.
I actually got my Dreamcast a whole month before release date in Europe and besides Sonic Adventure I do not think it was that great at all. Both Sega Rally and Virtua Fighter 3tb were running on Windows CE which resulted in poor performance. Soul Calibur was fantastic. Everyone of my friends - without exception - loved it and was able to play the game without having to learn moves first. The hard part was trying not to drool out of your mouth while looking at the visuals. I don't think Sould Calibur was a launch title for the system however, unless it got heavily delayed in pal territory.
NOTE: I realized I messed up on the number of simultaneous players for the original Power Stone Wahs (as the game calls itself). For whatever reason I've always thought it was four. Oh well.
You also forgot the following launch titles:
Failure To Launch
Space Camp
Naked Launch
+Jeff White LOL
No harm, no foul. I forgive this and as such your conscience can once again live happy and free.
Heck I thought it was four as well, I haven't played the game for more than a decade.
Game Sack Thanks for LOL'ing at the Jeff White comedy fest!
I didn't get a Gamecube at launch, but a friend at the time did. He hooked it up first at my place, and I marveled at how many asteroids were on screen in Rogue Squadron II. My only other launch experience was with the Wii U: I got the first one in my town. New Super Mario Bros. U was just okay, but seeing Nintendo stuff in HD for the first time blew my mind.
Are you still alive?
Joe and Dave, you guys have steered me in the direction of more great games than on any you tube channel. Keep cranking these great videos out. You guys keep my modest collection growing. l'm looking forward to a video dedicated solely to the genesis. Thanks for your info and insight.
I found it lovely when Joe said that he was in line with Dave for the gamecube
The Dreamcast was the first system that I actually lusted over. It was such a massive step forward over the N64 and PS that it blew my 13 year old mind.
I lusted over PSP hard when I was 10 years old.
“The 3DS sequel is great, but we need more! How about a Part 3 on the NX?”
Um, okay. Wow.
power stone 1 was only 2 players. (unless there is something I'm missing.?) number 2 is 4 players. great episode and content. I'd love a sequel to this, with the Neo, snes, nes and etc.
You are correct! Oops.
I liked Power Stone 1 better, but 2 was just as fun
I only played power stone 2. It's a ton of fun with friends
now more people know where the Frank intro comes from in Flea Market Madness
Lol that's exactly what I notice as well.
My thoughts exactly.
I recognized it because I had a TB16 back in the day and beat that effing game after soooo many hours. Suck it noobs...Naw...just kidding. Game and be happy. Thumbs up.
"Does your system work?" lol i love game sack
I can’t believe Dave left out Golf on the gameboy. That game was great and still one of my favorite GB games ever!
The nintendo I was 5 it was 1985 and playing mario blew my mind. I still remember the commercial that came on and informing my mother that's what I wanted for Christmas.
LoL. I'm glad she got the drift.
Great episode as always. Gotta say that the Dreamcast launch was really strong in my eyes.
Thanks for another great episode guys. Best show on youtube.
Dreamcast was most memorable to me. I always like videos like this because it takes me back to a simpler time in video game history. Nothing and I mean nothing will ever be as good as the Sega and Nintendo Era of gaming.
You guys let me go to sleep, and not in a bad way. THANK YOU. Love the content.
I forgot how impressive Original Xbox games looked
Not me still have mine and have it hooked up. I don't want to have to miss this systems of it games. The Original Xbox is one of my Favorite systems of all-time. My favorite easily for the 6th Console generation.
I prefer to not buy a system at launch and instead wait until games of interest appear, price reductions and system fixes.
Amazing story, thanks for sharing.
It's not a car, Jesus!
Definitely true with PS5 and XBSX
Ha! I do the same with the PS4! I've bought thousands of dollars worth of games for hundreds
Joe and Dave, you guys have just been killing it since your hiatus in April. Thank you for your awesome videos. I love them so much!
Thank You!
I'm probably not the first to mention this, but Virtua Fighter 1 ran at 30fps in the arcade... it was VF2 that hit 60fps. Just thought I'd mention it!
I would have preferred to play project Got-HAM. Pigs riding fully customize racing cars.
dont forget the other racing title..
i cant believe its Not-Ham.
"I feel sick and need to get to bed soo--Oh hey! New Game Sack!"
I've watched and listened to this episode a few times and it's the first time I realized the license plate on Project Gotham Racing says, "YOURMOM".
Dreamcast launch to this day is still the GOAT. It was the first time I crossed over to the other side and got a Sega system. It was also the first console I ever bought with my own money. TBH if it had launched in November 2020 I still would have bought it over the PS5 & Series X launches.
Dave loves his HipHop and Rap, he mentions it every video I feel like I should send him some in the mail. ;)
I do! LoL...
not in Madworld, sadly
Dave seems like a rap is crap kind of dude. I loved the diversity of music I the Tony Hawk games.
Gamecube launch games look as good as some modern games.
Ok
@@Prizrak-hv6qk WII U
Game Sack is the best video game channel out there! I always love your videos, guys.
Thx again guys. Love a new Game Sack and a good cup of coffee ! Great episode !
Soul Calibur was the most impressive launch title I’ve seen... and Mario 64.
I think the most impressive launch game is Sonic Adventure
Might want to structurally rewrite your comment. It sounds like an oxymoron
here for the Launch of a launch games episode!

+Christopher Galloway Better than the asinine "First". Slow clap.
+yo ianrhodes was that really necessary? why even bother for something dumb like that little face that basically reads as "I have nothing to say"
August West damn ok, just thought the face was funny and i meant it as a mind blown type thing.
yo ianrhodes Personally, I agreed with August West and therefore, I appreciate your gracious concession.
Attention spans ARE getting short but myself and many others want/need/require more than one word, one emoji to believe that we aren't rapidly declining to Idiocracy. ;)
I've played consoles for 30 years of my life and seen em all from NES on. Was old enough to follow releases around N64 and since then I have to say I've come to appreciate how good the original Xbox was. GameCube is a close second and frankly that was the best generation for gaming on consoles. I have been collecting games from back then the last few years and it's amazing how many great games we had access to.
Always great to see another Game Sack video!
The Vita launch! Never have I been so disappointed. The disappointment remains today.
I feel sorry for Vita users, never have I seen a large company not give a crap about a system they launched.
Its alright. Now everyone can mod their vitas to play emulators and homebrew.
Honest advice: Play the Master Chief collection on Xbox one before you go in on Halo 5. Will catch you up on most of the Halo games that you missed.
Good advice, Thanks!
So true!! Why haven't you heard of the Halo collection on the Xbone?!?
*****
I have heard of it but I was wondering if I could and should just jump into Halo 5 without playing part 3 etc...
+Game Sack Dave Halo is about story, your going to be soo lost without playing the others!! Plus I feel Halo 2 was my favorite for gameplay, but Halo 3 for story! You'd miss that skipping!! It's not like Mario and Zelda, where they keep rebooting with each game ;). Buy the collection, you can't go wrong! Plus the games are more fun co-op!! Esp. if your not good at FPS.
+Game Sack Dave should play halo reach before anything as it is a prequel and a very good one. then move onto 3 4 5 etc
I wouldn't want to live in a world without Game Sack.
Great episode. Brought back some good memories.
You should do a light gun game episode looking at various consoles.
That would be awesome!
They did two
My most memorable system launch happened earlier this year. The Nintendo Switch was the first time I picked up a system on it's midnight launch and it was entirely by accident. Some weeks before the night, I tried to reserve the system at GameStop but they had long since sold out. I did put $5 down on Super Bomberman R, though just in case. Fast forward to about 30 minutes before the launch. At this time, I didn't have enough money on me to buy a Switch and wouldn't until 8 AM the next day (long after the system was sold out) so I went to Wal-Mart with the intention of buying Zelda BotW for Wii U but I was told I had to wait with the people getting Switch systems. Due to most people going to the GameStop across the street for the console, there were only about six people ahead of me with two joining right behind me and the lady said there would be at least enough for the nine of us. Sweet... but I still didn't have enough for the system. But then I remembered something: I've been getting $50 gift cards from the people running my apartment complex to compensate for having the power out and being forced to live in a hotel for a few weeks and I just so happened to still have two untouched ones with me. When I asked the lady if I could split payment between the cards and cash and she said yes, my face lit up like Christmas. Moments later, I walked out of Wal-Mart with my very own Nintendp Switch console and, when I got paid later that day, I rushed over to Wal-Mart to pay off Super Bomberman R. It's a night I'll never forget and it was entirely unexpected.
bringing back memories with that gameboy lineup.
I thought I was the only person that kept receipts from this kind of stuff. Thanks for making me feel a little bit less weird, Game Sack!
You can't not love Engrish and you simply cannot not love Takenobu Mitsuyoshi happily belting out (with a great singing voice at that) "BRUU BRUU SKIIIIES... BRUU BRUU SKIIIES, I SEEE!".
Also, am I the only one who thinks that the NPC guy at 28:14 looks like British comedian Michael McIntyre?
Wow, the Saturn looks a lot rougher when not viewed from the Rose colored glasses (ie: nostalgia) of my youth.
I owned the PS1 and N64 back then, a friend had the Saturn and to be honest the N64 has aged the best out of them (although it sill looks pretty bad.) Some PS1 games look so bad as to be almost unplayable :( I used to love Twisted Metal back then, tried to play recently and wow my eyes they bleed. Thankfully SOTN and Road Rash still are awesome and probably will be forever :)
I just bought a Saturn late last year, never owned one before as I was down on Sega after they cancelled support for the 32x and Sega CD when I had just bought both. Anywho going back and playing the Saturn, after hearing forever that it's weaker than the PSX (which I did buy at launch) I must the Saturn is WAY more impressive than people give it credit for. It has a great library of original games and an awesome controller, I can't believe I didn't get a Saturn when they were blowing them out at the end.
@@rodmunch69 Saturn graphics have aged better due to much less texture warping.
@@drunkensailor112 Yeah, the graphics in general aren't muddy like they are on the Playstation - but the big thing is the games, there's just a lot more of them than I thought. Before I bought the Saturn I just never paid much attention to it so I didn't know what I was missing.
@@drunkensailor112 Oh, and I got one of those new official Sega Saturn controllers by Retro-bit and they're great. Highly recommend it if you're using the original US controllers or your old one is beat up, these things feel just like a new OEM controller.
Eating lunch while watching your launch games episode. Thanks guys, you deliver quality as always!
I'm at work, and I find a new Game Sack episode? YEAH!!!!!! This will help the mundane graveyard shift I have to work tonight when it's on downtime.
I'm the only one who never got a Console at launch?
Nope. I always wait at least 1 year to buy a console.
Yes, you are. Even the above guy is lying so you don't feel bad.
+Tim Houston That's nice of him :) :b But seriously, at launch you don't have many games, and a year later (even earlier) the price goes down for the Console. So I think if someone can wait, there is no reason to loose so much money just to be one of first to be a owner of a new console.
Never really bought a console on launch.
NES - 1989
SNES - 1993
PS1 - 1998
PS2 - 2002
PS3 - 2008
nope, i just got my Wii last year!
I don't think that's a space shuttle at 8:13.
Since Tetris is has a Russian theme, this must be Buran spacecraft, which flew in 1988 - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buran_%28spacecraft%29
Love you guys. I hope we get another episode about this. I think a final games before death of a console might be cool with some great games releasing late.
thanks for the show. you guys do great work
thanks again
Tip for moneky ball in GameCube: you're not actually using the stick to control the monkey, you're actually moving the stage. Knowing this helped me get way better at the game.
Dave, Halo's 4 and 5 aren't even made by the same team as the original.
Bungie went on to make Destiny.
And if I may add to that... 4 & 5 are the weakest in the series. Maybe the Halo collection might ge a better purchase to jump back in.
Also go get ODST. I personally think that's the best one in the series.
+ProtosMerkabah you think ODST is the best of the Halo series? You are taking too many drugs. or not enough drugs. Either way, the amount if drugs is not right. it is garbage compared to Halo 1, 2 and 3. you obviously didn't play those if you think ODST is better.
+August West what is an opinion?
ODST has a soundtrack/atmosphere/setting/story that blows the others out of the water though, and you never feel like some super soldier even on the regular difficulties
Dreamcast. Soul Calibur.
Nothing more needs be said.
Uhhh halo nuff said
Thanks guys , really love your videos
Great job on this one guys! Loved every minute of it. Awesome video!
Pack...in game?
What's that?
Mistah Bean A free game that comes packed in with the console. Like Super Mario World was the pack in game for SNES, when it launched.
We gotta make this a meme.
Stopped when ps1 came out i think
Have you guys considered adding an overlay when playing games in 4:3 aspect ratio? It's a small touch but I think it would be a nice addition to your videos. Anyways, keep up the good work.
What do you mean? Like stuff on the sides? Nah, I think that looks pretty tacky unless done for effect on one or two shots.
Game Sack Disagree, I think it depends on what overlay you use. But anyway, it's no biggie, I come here mostly for your quality videos.
+Kempes SFA +Game Sack
The overlay wouldn't be tacky if it were something simple like, the name of the system or the game.
Also, adding 'scan lines' to games that were typically played on older TV/Monitors would be more representative of the 'look' as without, they look terrible. It's old school anti-aliasing.
The Mass Debator
I don't like things on the sides. It's distracting. I mean, they don't put stuff above and underneath letterboxed movies, do they? Of course not. Also not all 4:3 games are the same width. It varies from game to game. Other channels can do that, I just think it looks amateur.
Game Sack *"I don't like things on the sides"* - Ever seen Joe Dirt?
"It's not about YOU, it's about the CONSUMER!"
Heh.
Loved that episode guys, we want more !!!
Thanks for another episode guys
How can frame rate not affect the gameplay! ? Just saying...
There are a lot of games where the controls stay tight and responsive even though the frame rate is low.
In a racing game having less than 30 fps will AFFECT gameplay. period.
SuperHns Well Daytona USA on the Saturn runs at 20 frames per second and plays like a dream. The later Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition runs at a solid 30 frames and doesn't control any better.
The frame rate is consistent and if the controller response isn't tied directly to the frame rate its very possible to have a game that controls well at less than 30 fps. FWIW I don't know if the controls or the physics are tied to the display frame rate in the case of Daytona, but either way its very playable. In fact some say that the cars in the original Daytona (Saturn) actually control better than in the Circuit Edition remake which has a better frame rate.
+Pickster UK Well, I guess I can't argue with facts. I guess it's like having a consistent frame rate but inconsistent frame times so the game still feels choppy. It just seemed like an odd thing to say when I watched the video.
When it comes to launch systems I only buy Nintendo. Microsoft never had a good track record for having a quality launch system with missing options or reliability issues.
I agree. My first Xbox was refurbished and it broke only a couple years later.
My 360 had the red ring of death 5 times. Xbox One, no problem. Both consoles were purchased at launch. But in Microsoft's defense, I would call and they would fix my 360 within a week to two.
Anyone remember the "recall" on the original Xbox? Yeah, the fires caused by the power source? Not to mention that it did NOT run many games well with the first Gen. Fable and ESIII GotY come to mind. I still have the 3rd Xbox Zero (since Xbox One is a different thing now) that we bought. Runs great and reliable.
What a great episode to watch. Really interesting.
Really enjoyed this video. Hopefully there will be a part 2.
Nintendo Switch launch line up: Zelda and 1-2 Switch.
Pathetic
Harley Quinn i have beaten every single Zelda title up thru Twilight Princess. I am completely burnt out on the series. It will take more than a new Zelda game to get me to get this year 1.
@@vtrip_ Sooooo... How about that year 1?
What about the dreamcast 2?......wait nvm
The fuck you smoking?
I don't know, in nam the soldiers got coke, maybe the kernels doin it 70's style.

Marshall Perry I hate hashtags, but #that"joke"doesn'tmakeanygoddamnsenseyoudipshit
Im glad you're back to making videos regularly.
Another great episode, thanks, guys!
Don't bother with Halo 5 it's terrible
I would agree with that. Master Chief collection gives more value for money if you are on the Xbox one anyway. Most feel the best in the line is the 2nd one. I like it to mostly due to the huge variation in locations. 5 screwed to much up to be "fun" as it gimped to much vs earlier titles on even the MP.
+Balc0ra's Gaming The story and level design in Halo 5 is very poor. Some like the MP but it doesn't feel like Halo to me. Halo 3 and Reach are definitely work playing still fantastic games.
MP was poor on the 5th one and I've hardly touched it. Reach is the best one there IMO. One of the reasons is that you can't play Firefight solo to name one. As you need 8 players to start it on 5. Reach I gained many a level having fun with firefight both solo and with friends.
+Balc0ra's Gaming Firefight on Halo 5 is more like a strike on Destiny but not well paced at all. I still play Reach Firefight it's really fun local coop and online.
Edmundo studios
Exactly. Local. That's the aspect they kinda missed out on as you can't start it with just 1 or 2 in a couch on Halo 5.
Thank you for continuing to upload content. I know this can be not the most rewarding job at times but I truly do enjoy your content. I saw your DVDs at Too Many Games with Screenwave but I didn't have a lot of extra money at the time. I aim to try and support you guys at some point in the future. Thanks again for all the awesome videos!
Thank You for watching!
You guys released a DVD? I thought there was only a Bluray.
Yeah I mean Bluray. I substitute DVD for Bluray sometimes when speaking.
I remember my parents giving me their old Game Boy in the early 90s, and I was hooked on Tetris, Super Mario Land, and Solar Striker-all launch games for the system. I still enjoy them, and it might be my favorite system for launch games.
I'll never forget that dreamcast launch. the world stood still for at least a few days or weeks in my recollection. so awesome. I remember showing it to my parents and they couldn't believe the graphics (my dad was a gamer as well)
literally got the notification as i was mere seconds from sleep.... must stay up for the sack
Enjoyable episode. Thanks guys!
(also to jump in Soul Calibur hold guard and then press up)
Great episode guys, hope this topic gets some sequel episodes
Ah just what I needed after a crappy Weekend thanks Guys :)
Got my GameCube at launch with 4 controllers, Luigi's Mansion, Star Wars Rogue Leader, and Super Monkey Ball. Each game was fantastic and my original Cube is still going strong!
Great video guys! I actually found a Vigilante Arcade cab at my local Goodwill a couple of months ago for $10. Although not the best beat em up you can't beat $10!
Love the video at the end! I too had the "255 day edition!"
Cool episode. The Dreamcast launch was my favorite, but then again the Dreamcast has been my all-time favorite console since it launched in 1999.
Oh how I enjoyed Munch's Oddysee on the Xbox! I loved the characters, art style, voice acting and sound effects. The game had some real atmosphere to it. I didn't enjoy the repetitive collection part of the game so much. Using a crane to pick up and drop 50+ egg crates into a portal certainly felt like too much hard work. I hope it will be re-released on a modern system at some point, like I heard it might.
Great show guys! System launches are good times for all gamers. Cant wait for the NX!
I think the most memorable for me was the SNES in 1991. A kid down the street from me rented the famicom from a local video store before the SNES came out and we played the japanese Super Mario World for almost an entire weekend. I was so blown away, I just knew that I had to pester my parents to get it for me on my 12th birthday.
An EPIC episode. Can you guys make another one of these please?
Great stuff you two! Really enjoyed this one.
Clockwork Knight is absolutely one of my favorite series!
Yup, Soul Calibur & Sonic Adventure are what sold me on the Dreamcast. I bought one at launch and absolutely LOVED it! I remember being totally shocked when they announced that it was being discontinued. To me it felt very sudden and unwarranted. I thought the system was great with a fantastic library of games. I simply couldn't understand why it was being cancelled or wasn't doing well. Such a shame as it's such an underrated system.
I LOVED Panzer Dragoon! Even while playing, with the awesome soundtrack, it was like you were in a movie!!
My favorite launch memory is the Nintendo Wii. I didn't get many system on launch, but this one was not only the first that I did...but I waited in line 2 hours at Best Buy. Holding the new controller was such a new gaming experience I felt like a kid again. The three launch titles I bought were Call of Duty (the last military shooter I ever bought), Twilight Princess (Wii), and Madden '07.
I don't buy Maddens every year...maybe every 4 years when I get a hinkering. This one is still among my favorites. I like the motion controls...gets you into it.
Its funny, i was thinking not long back that you guys should make a episode on launch games, and you did! My favorite launch game has to be Super mario land. it was the game that started my love for portable systems.
Always love your videos Game Sack.
omfg I love Launch Games. This is going to be a great episode!!!
Would love a Turbo Grafx 😔 Looks amazing❤️
Especially R-Type, I had the ZX Spectrum version growing up!!!
According to what I've learned over on Jeremy Parish's "GameBoy Works" series right here on CZcams is that Tetris was actually not a launch title for the GameBoy. At least not the Japanese launch. I can excuse that tho cuz i love the content you guys create!
I recommend all the "Works" series over on Parish's'Tube channel as well!
great job guys! keep impressing me
What an excellent episode . Thankyou so much joe and dave....
Thanks for watching!
+Game Sack Dave definately a nostalgic episode. Reminds me of reading the monthly gaming magazines.
Seeing the front cover or main page and getting all excited.
"That's right, I know your friends are weak" haha that was a great line.
these videos are cool its awesome to just see a couple seconds of a bunch of older games I never seen some of them look pretty trippy mannn
great episode! keep them coming! regular viewer and i never skip the ads! want to support you guys as much as possible!
At the end, Joe looked at the camera and said, "No, I have the red ring of death on my first edition 360." I remember the lip syncing in Blue Stinger was so bad. Sometimes a person would speak and someone else's mouth would move, or no one would speak and everyone's mouth would move. Sometimes you would hear someone speak and someone's mouth in the background would move.
