- It’s official: we’ve reached peak iPad. Yesterday, we tore down the iPad Mini 5 and found a couple minor design updates with a smidge of new silicon. Today, we took apart the iPad Air 3 and found that it’s basically built like an iPad Pro 10.5” on the inside, minus the surround sound and camera bump. These days, the non-Pro iPad lineup is just frankensteined components and designs from other iPads. Too bad all this mishmashing manages to leave out almost all the good stuff. Like modularity. And battery pull-tabs.

I bought an iPad Air 3 this week. The value for money is surprising for the track record of apple. I am truly amazed how they managed to fit so much tech in such a tiny frame. Of all Apple products, I find their iPads as those that offer the most value.
I agree, i think it is due to the fact that they don't sell high volumes of them so they can't inflate the price because of the domand/offer rule :P i own an ipad air 3 aswell and tbh for 550 euros it is simply amazing, the gestures when executed with no lag are a real time saver and what makes the usage of the device so funny. Sometimes i find myself doing stuff on it with my laptop open in front of me and i consider that as a win haha! Surely i am a PC person first and foremost so it will never supercede my beloved windows but it is a very good device and prolly one of the best ipads for the value i've ever seen

Well i gotta say that i own an iPad 3 since 7 long years and out of 11.500 mAh battery now it is 9300... to be honest it is not too much big of a deal if you don't need to change it so often. The bigger the battery the better lifespan it will have ^^ in fact you don't even have any iOS battery info on the iPad because it is really not necessary, the battery is way too oversized for the device to shut down because of the battery. It will surely wear down one day, but i just bought the ipad air 3... so tbh it has done its job and survived even longer than a common laptop, the ipads are honestly the only device from apple that served me well. This new one compared to my old ipad is another universe also haha, i got gifted an iphone 11 also (yea very lucky month) but out of the two devices what was the best bang for the buck was the ipad air 3
That's why I wouldn't buy an old ipad. The batteries. I too bought an ipad air 3. I can use it for the next 5 years with ipad os support. According to Moore's law there will be something better out there and it would had depreciated accordingly.

Is it possible to replace the pins/slots where the digitizer ribbon connect to? A relative opened up their ipad carelessly and damaged both the digitizer ribbon and the slots where it connects
The smart connector flex can be removed or replaced?
I’ve had my IPad Air 3rd gen since August of 2019 and it still runs great but often will brown out when between 5%-20% charged and will always then continue to brown out on every boot attempt until it’s charged for a few minutes! According to the logs the battery voltage drops to only 3.2V-3.3V when it shuts down which is probably due to the battery being old! :)

Hi, my ipad air 3 has a very folded chassis, I wanted to know if the rear metal casing of the ipad pro 10.5 ”could put it in the ipad air 2019, at the moment there is no replacement housing for the ipad air 2019.

Actually I want to buy iPad Air 3 in 2020 so I had read on internet that in this iPad Air 3 having black screen issue which are manufactured between March 2019 and October 2019 so what should I do now should I buy this or not
We bought the Air 3 in December 2019. Haven't had that issue. Even though my kid shattered the screen a few weeks ago, it still works fine behind the spider web of broken glass...
Keep unplugging the screen before disconnecting the battery and you will make another video with Jessa fixing your iPad backlight
My remaining question is what if I swap the logic board from the new one to the old one, which retains the ProMotion and quad-speakers, if these are all the same.
Like are you dumb bro or just a kid? There are ribbon cables in their, amd not all ribbon cables are same. They might be oriented differemtly, have more than one cable etc. Also, you need software support to work. A12 will not work with 4 speakers because it's software is designed to only work inside the air woth 2 speakers. Nkt everything is like a box that you open and transplant.

Have you seen the inside of older iPads? They were full to the brim. They don‘t need space for cooling. That works with the aluminium enclosure.
It‘s just sad because of that unused space.

Were you playing heavy games ?
It depends on your usage and the age of your ipad, if it's more than 2 years and usage is heavy then its normal or if not there is a problem with your battery and charging port connection. Hope this helps you.

We wish! Do you think they had a bunch made and just didn't ship? or Do you think they were never fully produced? Demo units are out there, but I wonder if a bunch of actual units are sitting in a warehouse somewhere.
My guess is that there are functional units out there. I personally believe they fixed the heat issues and were ready to put into full production but couldn’t pass safety regulations. So there are probably functional units out there but apple probably has them under lock and key. I guess we will see if any turn up in random places.

Look at the free space on the top of the battery. Apple could easily fit another two speakers to make consuming media a lot more enjoyable. What’s wrong with Apple?
They literally removed those 2 speakers from Pro 10.5 but didn’t bother to design new battery
Because that's for the cellular modem for the cellular model.
Because they want to differentiate the ipad air 2019 from ipad pro 10.5
1) Apple wants to differentiate Pro lineup from Air lineup
2) And some space is reserved for Cellular antennas to accommodate WI-FI/Cellular models

Years ago, glued electronics were considered the cheapest and poorly designed ones. Who would have thought that nowadays it's the ultimate compromise to make things "thin" and "nice"... I just wonder how low the bar will go in the next era.

I bought an ipad air 3 an year ago, and it suddenly blanked out. Took it to service centre they said it cant be repaired and needs replacements for which I need the bear the full cost just around 200 dollars less. Apple is not making premium products they are just making a fool out of consumers. ( I need to pay more 500 dollars to get the replacement)
