It only just occurred to me that Namor can fly, breathe in water, and walk on land something poetic about that
He’s got all the elements covered except fire which ironically is bad for him
In mayan mythology, their God kul'ku'kan exists in the 3 planes of reality , the heavens, the earth and the underworld. Namors character fits so well in ryan coolgers depiction as a being who is able to survive in the depths of the ocean (underworld) walk the earth and breathe the same air as humans (earth) and be granted the ability to take flight (heavens) ryan coogler did his research and found the perfect fit to represent this marble character giving respect to people of indigenous culture.
Namor developed differently because of his fathers DNA for those that don’t know his father was a mutant that actually deeply cared about his mother
@@FabledHeroes3351Yh who’s his father In The mcu
@FabledHeroes3351 You are making stuff up. Namor's dad in the comics was an unremarkable ship captain. His dad was an unknown member of his people. Neither of them were mutants.

I actually really like the origin of his name in this movie. And being half hispanic, I never even realized that his name was basically a compound word in Spanish for no love.
Hispanic just mean spanish speakers. The real Hispanic are people from spain
IT ISN'T!!! it's a coincidence! in the ORIGINAL comics, he's from Atlantis......
Apparently, his name was originally just "Roman" backwards; the result of trying different noble-sounding names. However, the "-mor" is evocative of the latin "mare" (sea), and consequently of words like marine or sub-mariner.
It also applies to anyone born from the south of the Mississippi to Tierra del Fuego, whose language is Spanish, for example Texas, Iowa, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, California and Florida, because those states, during the viceregal period were Spanish territories, and it is not true that the Spaniards exterminated the indigenous people of those lands, but that after they were stolen from Mexico, by the American settlers, the native peoples were left behind the reserves, in the case of Florida, which was not part of the new Spain, the whites of English origin completely ended up with the indigenous people of that place, they were not the Spaniards
The origin of his name was that it was just "Roman" backwards. He was from Atlantis.
While the Talokanils are Descendants of the Maya, The Kingdom of Talokan is based off the Aztec Underwater Realm of Tlalocan.

@@9to5_ How does anything that went on in Ms. Marvel ruin mutants?
I cried deeply for Namor's mother in this scene, especially during birth. If you read well the history of la conquista, how the indigenous people were cruelly mistreated and tortured, you'll understand why he says he has no love for the outside world. If she didn't have a broken heart, maybe Namor's mother would still be alive.
On a side note, I like how Attuma and Namora have a teenager appearance when Namor was a little boy. Good detail to include and make audiences understand why they're so loyal to him.
Yes, the same tribal Yucatec Mayans who resorted to cannibalism-and watch out!! That is not an excuse to exterminate people from another continent. Because, likewise, the Akkadian Empire also invaded other lands. As well as the Babylonians, and the Persians, and the Hellenes, and the Romans, and the pre-medieval Scandinavians, and the Celts, and the Carthaginians... and practically every racial, ethnic, religious, cultural, and social group of the kind. Human that has existed before and now.
Because, can you also find that today there are still pure-blooded Mayans who speak their ancestral languages? Of course, they are deprived of their ancestral civilization that sacrificed people to the gods, even indigenous people who did NOT believe in it.
no you didnt
Yea i think they all age slowly as well cuz it was probably the 1800s
Just how long do the Talokanil live?!
In the movie, Namor tells the audience, I mean, Shuri that he is a Mutant and because of that he ages slower. His mother, despite being able to survive the pressure of the ocean, aged and died as a normal human being. and Namora said that he grew up believing in his (Namor's) wisdom in his last scene.
So I think they don't live very long, despite being able to survive Vibranium spears piercing their chests.
I like this story better. Well written in my opinion.
I love the fact how their orgins r just like of the ppl of wakanda . This just comes to show the true story of Hispanics and Africans went thru the same thing in history and we r very much alike then different

Very genius of the writer making Namor's name origin a new meaning
in the comics, "Namor" was Atlantean for "avenging son", but here, "Namor" is the shortened version of a Spanish phrase that means "son without love"
That's the genius of the writer, to pull out something like this we never thought of 😂
This literally something a child would come up with.
When the Spanish arrived at the shores of the land they asked the natives where they were and the natives replied with "Uh yu ka t'ann" which translates to "I don't know your tongue." The Spanish ended up mistakenly naming the region "Yucatan."

I want to clarify that the film Apocalypto is NOT a representation of Indigenous Peoples. That film was a mix of Indigenous Mexicans and Indigenous Americans (Native Americans) that were to portray Hispanic Peoples from the director's (Mel Gibson) understanding of culture and traditions practiced by People of Color, which isn't portrayed in the best way.
These people are Mayan not Inca? Can you not tell the difference?
@@Copeharder99It is deep if you're a person of African, Native or Indigenous peoples descent.

I love this scene when little Namor comes up to the surface world it’s wicked
I don’t often sing praises to the MCU writers for improving the original characters, but they nailed it with Namor. This is the first time I’ve actually liked or cared about this character, and that’s no easy task. I REALLY disliked everything about namor until now.
They changed namor almost entirely…besides him thirsting for a married woman and his temper and destroying an entire earth, there’s not much to hate about the guy, he’s loyal to a fault, he’s a great king, stuck up for his friend when the Illuminati voted to send him away, namor is a fantastic chatacter, but an acquired taste for sure, this version of the character isn’t terrible it just might as well not be namor

Well, DAWG (is it Proto-Germanic?). What happens is that instead of CHOKING the world with THEIR MINORITIES (those of the Caucasians), to falsely apologize for marginalizing them, mistreating them, enslaving them, physically and psychologically abusing them and even murdering them, they could try to READ and discover that in India (that country that curiously has racial groups of dark tonality) there is a myth about a land that was submerged in the sea called "Kumari Kandam". And you know what's the best of that? When you go to the Spanish Wikipedia, the only representation in popular culture is ONE episode of the 2008 Emmy-winning Cartoon Network animated series, "The Secret Saturdays", where its "personal touch" is that it is a technologically advanced city. and mobile that is transported on the back of a colossal Sea Serpent that is controlled by telepathy... People remember the older Namor is the deeper and bigger his empire becomes in ocean thats why the bulletproof 1k psi pressure i can take a bullet
His origin story is pretty depressing
That’s the reality
That's the idea. It explains why he hates humanity.
in the comics, Namor was the son of a sailor named Leonard McKenzie and the Altantean Princess Fen, but Leonard got killed by the Atlantean soldiers that came to retrieve Fen from the surface world
upon returning to Atlantis, Fen discovered that she was pregnant and soon gave birth to the half-blood Namor, and Namor was a mutant among Atlanteans and humans, not because he had that "x gene", but because of his hybrid physiology that granted him amphibious qualities and the power to fly using wings that sprouted from his ankles
he fought in WWII alongside Captain America and Bucky as part of the Invaders team, but the war traumatized him, especially after he failed to save a soldier boy who was his version of Bucky
after the war ended, but before Captain America and Bucky resurfaced in the modern world, Namor suffered amnesia a couple of times, and during one of those times, he was found by Professor X, who convinced him to travel the world with him to find more mutants like them, but tragedy occured again, and when Namor lost his temper, Professor X tried to calm him down by "giving him a conscience" in the form of a living memory of the boy soldier he cared for but failed to save, unfortunately, that was the wrong thing to do as it left Namor with a "bipolar disorder" that made him constantly hallucinate and talk to himself
Namor would later have various confrontations with the Fantastic Four and develop feelings for Invisible Woman (Sue Storm), but that relationship amounted to nothing as Sue was destined to marry Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic)
Namor was shown to have put together his own version of the Avengers, an underwater strike team known as the Defenders of the Deep to keep surface dwellers out of the waters, when the Defenders became responsible for putting several underwater research facilities out of business, they had to fight the Avengers
in MCU, Namor is no longer Atlantean, but Talokan
his father is not mentioned, but his mother is supposedly still named Fen, and she was a member of a Mayan tribe that was suffering from small pox
the tribe's shaman found a special herb (presumed to be a variety of the heart shaped herb that gave Wakandans "Black Panther" powers) and used it to create medicine that was supposed to cure small pox
Fen, who was pregnant at that time, refused to drink the medicine, since it might affect her unborn child, but the shaman promised that if they all survived this epidemic, then Fen's child shall become the new leader of their tribe
so Fen took the medicine and was transformed into a blue skinned water breather
the water breathers then fled underwater and built a new home that would become Taloka, it just so happens that their new home was built using vibranium metals found underwater
Fen's son was the first Talokan to be born underwater, and as the shaman promised, he was named King of Taloka
the medicine that Fen drank caused her son to be born a mutant that could breathe water and air as well as fly using wings that sprouted from his ankles, Fen named her son "Kukulkan" after the Mayan Feather Serpent God
when Fen passed away, her dying wish was to be buried in the soil of her homeland on the surface world, so her son tried to fulfill that wish, but when he went to the surface world, he saw Mayans being made into slaves by Spanish conquistadors, and that angered him, prompting him to slaughter all the conquistadors he saw, one of those whom he killed was a Spanish friar, who yelled that he was "the son without love", and thus, from that moment on, this boy would become known as Namor to his enemies

It makes me wonder how namor and king t challa would of interacted with each other
They are rivals in the comics.
@@ridermanyt8029 I'm aware but maybe they would have came down to some kind of agreement, I hate that they killed the mother off
Namor the child without love,I got chills with the origins story.
I wish Namor would be an avenger in the new avengers movie 🎬 🎞 🎥 🎦 📽
