What, you mean in the bed?
Something I noticed upon a second viewing of the movie: you can clearly see the personalities and priorities of different characters right from the beginning. Ikaris starts by attacking the Deviant; he saves the kid in the process, but he's very clearly not interested in or focused on the kid at all. Ikaris only cares about the mission and has no real regard for humanity (or for his team, seeing as he abandons them to try and solo the winged Deviant). Makkari starts by saving the kid (who's only in danger again because of Ikaris' carelessness), and is consistently more invested in getting the humans out of danger than she is in fighting the Deviants. Even when she *is* fighting Deviants, it's more about helping her team than wracking up a kill count (she could *definitely* have knocked the Deviant charging Kingo off the cliff herself, but she just staggers it long enough for him to get a clean shot). She cares about the safety of humanity and her team more than anything, and it's obvious in hindsight that she and Ikaris would eventually come into conflict.

It’s stuff like this why Makkari is among the best Eternals. She’s just so pure and only ever has the best intentions. She even sympathizes with Tiamut after they stop his emergence. For being a fighter, she has the absolute gentlest of souls.

That's a good observation, but I have to point out that while Ikaris doesnt really care about humans, he does care about his team. That's why he looked for them in the film, after killing Ajax. Just to keep them safe from the Deviants while the hatching of Tiamut is on the way so they can leave together eventually.
well said, man! This movie is brilliant honestly, the perfect example of "show it, don't say it". Thats how well written characters born.

At 4:47? That's also one of my favorite music moments in the MCU. An ethereal choir heralding the arrival of the visitors from the sky.
I can't stop watching this scene, the soundtrack is awesome, and the action sequence is great. I love how this 3 minute scene introduces all 10 eternals and shows each of their abilities (except for Sprite, which could have easily been shown as she floats down from the ship, waving her hands to uncloak the domo). Also when they all stand together, it shows the 5 thinkers on the right and the 5 fighters on the left.

I actually enjoyed it, got a little slow at times but the visuals and fight scenes were nice.

@@chuckdeuces911 well you see, you may not understand how being deaf works so allow me to explain it to you. Being deaf means you cannot hear and therefore need other ways of communicating. That’s why they used sign language. If you want to know why the character is deaf, well while it is never confirmed, I have seen a theory that I think could explain it. Makkari when using her super-speed she is not affected by the sonic boom that accompanies her cosmic running, implying that her being being able to hear, could possibly hinder the usage of her powers. Since all the externals were created, this would therefore make sense as a design choice by the celestials.

Am I the only one who actually liked the movie? I’m kinda shocked that people didn’t like it. It has comedy, action, romance, and a plot twist like every other marvel movie. It deserves slot more attention and love imo.
I really enjoyed it, and while it isn’t the best Marvel movie, it’s not even close to being the worst. I love the superhero genre but it was great to get something different than the usual repeated formula. Having said that, I feel it would’ve benefited from being a series, so the characters could be fleshed out a bit more, which is why some people had problems, but I loved it
I feel that the movie's biggest issue is that it became information dump for the next MCU phase.

The moment I heard Pink Floyd I got chills.
I really liked ETERNALS, it was almost not a superhero film but about Gods and their creators. The cinematography, score, etc was on WB level of production in terms of quality - like recent films Dune, The Suicide Squad, Doctor Sleep, and of course DC films akin to Man of Steel, ZSJL, etc - but the pacing was a bit off between characters and their motivations, and lacked some character development but they do have a really good foundation and bunch of characters for a sequel, so I welcome ETERNALS 2. This is a film that felt more matured, focused on plot instead of packing in action, Gods essentially trying to be more human in their justification as to stop Tiamut, like the Gods of Olympus trying to stop Cronus from destroying Earth.
Zhao' direction was great for this kind of MCU film; but 500 critics give it 48% compared to 10000+ viewers whom gave it 78% on RT, fan and viewer reactions matter more, they always have. A bad review hardly stops me from seeing a film.
I agree with literally everything you said, it might actually be my favorite because of it's theme and cinematography like you said feeling like a WB DC film. I love this movie alot and would love an eternals 2
Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands, so the title sequence gave me chills in the cinema

I personally love Sersei’s character. She’s intelligent, curious, nurturing, compassionate and also a total badass. She’s a well written character, with traits that you don’t typically see in superhero movies.
I love her but I wish they gave her more nuances. The other Eternals seem to be more well rounded (Makkari havibg interest in artifacts, Kingon loving the spotlight). Aside from loving humans, what other things is Sersi into?

I really really enjoyed this movie. Great visuals, I liked the plot, good action scenes, much more grandiose tone to other Marvel flicks. Plus I'll take more Celestial action any day so cool to see them on screen.
Me and my Dad we saw that movie in theaters and we love that movie eternals I even have the whole collection of the marvel legends of the Eternals Including Kro.
This became one of my favorite MCU films. Don't care if ppl didn't resonate with this movie.
I'm gonna get destroyed, but I believe this was one of the very best of the MCU. All the characters were great, even those who had very less screentime, visuals and music were astonishing, solid plot, amazingly shot action scenes and most of all, solid themes and dialogues.
It had flaws, like underwhelming villains, some pacing issues and things that are yet to be explained in the universe, but overhaul, it was in my opinion one of the most unique and beautiful comic book movies. Even tho it could've been good as a show too.

Eternals just became my no. 1 MCU movie. I love everything about it. Stories about the creation of life, lores and mythology is something I find very fascinating, that’s why I love Prometheus as well. Can’t wait to see more of the Eternals ❤️

What say you about Moonfall? Wasn’t perfect either. Had more flaws than Eternals. But people missed the fact that for the first time in cinematic history, we have Dyson Spheres and the Kardechev Scale utilized. It was amazing to see that! What humanity could be like in the distant future.

I watched it last night and imo, it was the best MCU movie, quality-wise.
It's direction was truly great as expected from Chloe Zhao.
It had the best cinematography in MCU.
It had one thing which most of the MCU lacks, that is, a deep and meaningful plot. Especially the moral crisis that was created throughout the movie made it so extraordinary.
Just like BvS (U.E.), MoS & Watchmen, this movie will get the appreciation it deserves after some years from now, when people will start understanding it.

Because people place so much value on what critic's say when they shouldn't. A critic's job actually shouldn't even exist because it's a person opinion on a movie and people's opinions very. I actually have it in my top 5 Marvel movie's and that's saying a lot. Is it perfect? No but I'm yet to see a perfect movie so what does that even mean?🤨

@@richardpage5812 There is a problem. A Critic's job is very much needed, as Critics cater to the filmmaking canon, not the audience. This got conflated and even critics themselves are forgetting their roots. Ebert followed the ethic and is revered as one of the gods of film criticism. But it is also fact that the man understood cinema, unlike most critics these days.
As for this, This film was a clear case of critics not enjoying Chloe Zhao going mainstream. In a way, had this film released when it was supposed to, before Nomadland and her oscar win, i assure you, this would be a critically well received film. Her oscar win and a stark departure from Nomadland was seen as a betrayal by many to her indie cinema roots, which i think is absolute bullshit. A filmmaker learns and evolves by trying new things, understanding different methods of filmmaking, and delving their hands in both indie and mainstream.
If you closely read the reviews of Eternals, you will find my point correct. a good chunk of them really have no proper criticism to give apart from this is different from generic MCU fare and from Zhao fare, thus it is bad. You really mean to tell me Black Widow, Thor Love and Thunder were better films than Eternals? I don't buy that.

i gotta say, i recently rewatched this movie and it felt MUCH better than the first time.
the scene at 2:20 is as good as it can get, the score is just majestic and divine, very fitting to these higher beings.
Same. First time through I wasn't impressed until the second half. Watching it again, I fell in love with this film.

Seems like another group of X-men now giving tough competition/fight to the Avengers, Justice Leagues & even X-men themselves.

I seriously hope we at the very least see more of Sersei, Kingo, and Phastos in the MCU. They legitimately felt like the heart and soul of this movie.
They were fantastic. I think this film was way under-rated. The second time I watched it I rated it 3 points higher on a scale from 1-10. So much subtlety and confusion that was there, on purpose, because of deception the characters fell for, and thus, we did the first time through.
It's actually entertaining on the large screen. Love the visuals & pounding sounds coming in all directions during action scenes
Sersi is just watching going like 'keep it up guys great work.'

Wow in the book of Enoch: part of the Apocrypha. It describes the Angels of heaven who came down to Earth to teach mankind the mysteries of heaven, against the will of God. They taught divination and forms of what we know to be Magic. They also taught man the construction of weapons from heaven. What a weird parallel this is.
Not weird,it's going to repeat. Just watch as the end of days further unfolds
1)Be not a minister of the word. Discern their dark/hidden meaning.
2)Perfect love drives our all fears. Don't feed fear and don't consume it either.
3) The bible is not the first or only book to describe such things.

I'm a huge DC fan but to my surprise I really liked the eternals especially when Phastos asked Ikiris should I call you Clark? Time by Pink Floyd was an excellent song choice considering the eternals lived for millions of years prior to them coming to earth.

Those people who gave a low rating in this movie, did not really understand what the movie is trying to protray. It's one of the most beautiful movie Marvel Studios ever created. You just need to focus more on the story, then eventually you'll know the true message or what the movie offers a new perspective on the phase 2 of the avengers or even a perspective in our own reality.

Was not expecting Pink Floyd, but I’m happy to hear it. Also happy to see London because I was there not long ago, I even walked down that same exact Underground entrance at Piccadilly Circus.
