    Hey guys, there are more blood vessels in the legs than what's being shown in this video, so the blood takes other routes. Don't worry.

      Right but would that extra blood flow the cause then veins to malfunction?

      @@toma.6942 Not really. Your veins are highly compliant. And veins contain the major volume of circulatory fluid. So much so that they are called Capacitance vessels. So cutting off one tributary of a vein isn't gonna cause too many problems. - A medical student.

      I had this stripping surgery on my legs around 15 years ago but over the last 18 months the veins have returned and are now worse than ever. Every night I'm in agony, and it feels like my legs are on fire. Do you think it would be safe to get the same procedure done again?

    I mean technically the blood is still flowing through the cut vein, so wouldn't the pressure build up and cause the vein to burst, causing internal bleeding?

    • @shivacharanganji578
      @shivacharanganji578 Před 3 lety +4

      No. thanks to perforators the blood in those cut veins will travel to deep vein system in the leg and reach inferior vena cava.

    I've had this done as far as i can tell but it was combined with laser surgery. So instead of stripping, the Great Saphenous vein was closed via laser. Then the doctor proceeded to strip a d ligate the superficial branches down the leg.
    The procedure was a bit painful, altho manageable. Recovery is ok, some pain, hematomas and inflammation but its healing well overall and i can walk my dog so its good.

    What i dont understand is what happens when you remove the vain and when that part of a blood supply is closed, what happens to the parts that are using that blood flow ? Do they get ischemic or the body compensates for it ? Does patients get long terms disability and can they still do hard work after the operation ? Someone please answer my questions.

      hi ! here they removed a superficial vein, so the blood will go through deep veins.
      the patient can't have ischemic, because ischemic happens when " tissues of an organ " are not supplied by blood = that is a " problem with ARTERIES .
