    Not sure what those that are complaining are complaining about. I’ve had two of these in the last 18 years. They work great. All I’ve ever had to do is adjust the time zone. Great video. Answers most questions. User error is not the videos fault.

    came here because I lost the instructions, and I had to change the batteries (both units needed them at almost the same time). if your thinking about getting this clock, DO IT! the batteries for mine lasted almost two years, and the clock has worked perfect. for the outside sensor, I just left it in the plastic packaging it came in, added some duct tape around the edges, and it has stayed perfectly dry. I have it hanging under a large wood birdfeeder out of sight and where it's shady all the time. can't remember what I paid for it, 40.00? anyway, it's worth every penny. looks great over my desk, and even though it's right above my computer, I always look at it first. (the instructions are online as well) great job La Crosse!!!

    My outdoor sensor died and got some goofy readings for language and dates. I read the instructions over and over and could not make heads or tails out that mess of an instruction manual. What a joke. Luckily I found this video which was light years better than the dumbed down manual. In minutes I had the right year, date, language, and switched the dead outdoor temperature to seconds. BAM! Thank you Thank YOU!!

      @@lacrossetechnology The main instructions center ONLY around the clock and the remote transmitter working properly. Both of the La Crosse wall clocks that I have, the transmitters have died, and the manual setting of all the other features are very cryptic. Here's one snafu, I had 'F' listed in the litany of items that come up when manually programming all the features, while trying to get a foreign language off of it. . To me, that meant Fahrenheit, and not French, which sent me to the next item in the process. I can't tell how long the wrong language sat there until I got more determined to correct it permanently.
      As far as I know, there is no option to replace all these busted or corrupt transmitters. My first La Crosse only does indoor temp' and that still works perfect. My newer multi-color digital La Crosse, the outdoor temp' is sent every five minutes, and you need to stare at it until it decides to display the outdoor temp(no matter where you put it). This is really forcing me to just look at weather.com on one of my computers instead of buying another La Crosse product that will just quit working in two years. Third times a charm? They all still tell time and do indoor temps. but the Colorado Atomic clock update only works on one now. Moral of the story, write instructions for every snafu, and at a kindergarten level education, and I'm getting old now..

      Hi @@wayneg1794, we are sorry to hear of your troubles. If you're experiencing issues with your sensor(s) not reporting to your station, trying a basic restart is a great place to start. These steps are covered in this video: bit.ly/LaxTech_BasicRestart

      I've run into the same problem as Wayne G, with the sensor failing... TWICE now (2 different sensors). The most important reason I buy this product is the outdoor temp (atomic clock is my 2nd reason). Today my 2nd sensor stopped working. I opened the battery portion & found one contact corroded, & all the rest pristine. The batteries were healthy, with no corrosion, so I don't understand the problem. Then the corroded contact broke right off, with barely a touch on it. The inside of the sensor was completely dry, & the sensor was in a place that has no possibility of water contact. These sensors are too expensive to replace for this to happen. I bought my 2nd unit when the first sensor failed, & it was cheaper to buy the entire clock again, than to replace the sensor. I'm not happy at all.

    Hello, I have a nearly identical model Lacross atomic clock model# W86111. I impressed with it's or it's lack of a tendency to lose or gain time, however, the temperature inside and out stuck at 66.2F and 53.8F respectively with the outside temp blinking on and off every 4 seconds. Any thoughts on what you think may be causing this would be much appreciated...

    Hi, thank you for the set-up video! Just a question regarding the radio-controlled aspect of your clocks. How do we let the clock automatically sync with the radio station? Do we just leave the clock be (clock showing 12:00 AM, 1/1) once we put in the batteries and it syncs up?

    • @lacrossetechnology
      @lacrossetechnology  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Kayla, great question! We typically recommend working through the settings menu setting everything correctly when you're first setting up the clock. This just allows you to start using the clock correctly right away. But in terms of receiving the WWVB radio signal, the best strategy would be to move the clock near a window, away from other electronics, and have the front or back of it face Fort Collins, CO. After the signal is received, the clock should receive updates to keep the time accurate.

      Hey Leonard, we are truly sorry for the trouble. Eastern Time is the default time for this clock and, as noted in the video, you will need to manually select the correct time zone within the settings menu. If additional help with this is needed, please reach out to our support staff directly here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport -- We apologize for any inconvenience.

    NOT SIMPLE, POS continues to change time zones. Infuriating!

      Hi Douglas, we apologize for the frustration. The clock itself should not be changing time zones on its own, that should remain the same after set within the settings menu. The only way this would revert back to the default Eastern (EST) time zone is if the batteries had died. We are going to guess that you're actually referring to just the TIME itself changing on its own, this may happen once the WWVB Atomic Time reception is picked up from Fort Collins, CO and your Time Zone and/or Daylight Saving Time (DST) settings were not set correctly within the settings menu. For more specifics, you can find our FAQs for this item here: www.lacrossetechnology.com/media/catalog/product/w/s/ws-8117u-it__faqs_2.pdf
      If your settings are adjusted properly and the clock is not working as it should, please reach out to our support team here: bit.ly/contact_techsupport -- They will be able to help figure out what's going on and/or get you a replacement should it be necessary. Sorry again for any inconvenience.

      @@lacrossetechnology way way way too complex to set for essentially just two buttons on back of unit. The other two are used to set alarm?? c'mon, who uses that function?? And the daylight savings time is not AT ALL clear. Of course in the USA DST is utilized. The way you have it set up, there appears to be either on/off (much like whether DST is actually in effect for the winter months. And what's with the -11 where the date is??? Thank you, however, for reaching out. I deduced this from watching your video, otherwise I'd be SOL. Your company is lucky that some enterprising other manufacturer isn't making this simple, as it should be. And p.s. these clocks do not AUTOMATICALLY sync with Colorado. If they did as such, then you would simple pop in batteries and be all set. NOT THE CASE with these units. IMO you need to invest in R&D, (but what do I know- I'm just a consumer).

      Hi @@dogshit2112, we apologize again for the trouble you've had setting this clock up and getting it to work correctly. The Daylight Saving Time (DST) ON/OFF setting simply tells the clock whether to adjust for DST or not, at the correct time/dates of the year. The OFF setting will keep the clock set in the current time settings all year around, meaning it will not adjust the time forward/backward at all. The ON setting on the other hand, will allow the clock to adjust automatically as the DST changes take place. We should note that for this feature to work, the clock must be synced with the WWVB Atomic Time Signal (indicated by the Tower Icon on the display). For the best reception, we recommend placing the clock near a window, away from other electronics, and with the front or back of the clock facing Fort Collins, CO. This will offer the best chance at receiving the signal (typically within 3-5 nights max). Though, we unfortunately cannot guarantee this signal will reach all locations. If you live in a valley or are surrounded by trees or buildings, this can cause interference, which may delay or even fully block the radio signal. We apologize if you find yourself in this position, but we still recommend making sure you have your Time Zone and DST settings set correctly in the settings menu, so if the WWVB signal is picked up in the future, your time/date settings remain accurate. For more information about the NIST and the WWVB radio time signal, visit: bit.ly/AtomicTime

      Amen to that, I have two of these a widow lady gave me because she couldn't set them. I had an Acu-Rite with a lot more features on it and it was a breeze to set but these things are ridiculously hard to set. Once you finally get them set they do work good.
