I continue the budget renovation on the cabin by fixing mistakes and utilising the space available to make much more storage! But really this is the first step of a 3 stage transformation for this space. The step I am most excited about is still to come 🤓📚

Do you have a blender? Peel and freeze some of those bananas, it’s hard to eat that many before they go too ripe, and blend them up with just a splash of milk. It’s like banana ice cream. I have 4 bunches in my patch all getting ready to get ripe at the same time. I’m gonna need a bigger freezer!

So glad to hear you have found someone to share your adventures with. As for your couch, super easy to clean. Either steam clean or take covers off and wash. Then put a dog couch cover over your cushions for protection.
I love it! I'm Team Bathroom for the next project too. Don't forget that you can chop and freeze bananas in the freezer if you get too many, which you can use for smoothies, baking or to make a dairy free ice cream.

Nice closet:) Max before you fill your raised beds you should put old tree branches in the bottom to take up space and help with not having to add so much soil, they will break down over time and feed the soil.

Hola Max and Occy, My daughter used to get frustrated/depressed over the setbacks on our projects until we found your channel. Everyday we're 2 happy women learning and enjoying this precious life. We're stewarding and building in the cloud forest of Southern Mexico, we've had roof issues, too much rain issues (tho grateful), no termites thankfully, building with stone and adobe, super fun. Some days we're carpenters, other days plumbers, gardeners, masons...We took a month off to travel. Today we're traveling in the Amazon basin (climate change impacts are devastating btw :( ) Thanks for being YOU!

I’m in uk, we’re just coming into late spring, some days it’s very spring like others not so much. Everyone who knows me also knows that whenever the weather is good I’ll be outside. Don’t expect the house to be polished to within an inch of it life! I have no problem with visitors as long as they are prepared to check the weather on the days prior to their visit! Good weather days are meant to be spent outside enjoying the day, definitely not inside!
Don’t stress over getting a video out so often that it takes the pleasure out of the job you’re doing. We all know sometimes “life just gets in the way” life is for living in the moment, have a down day, turnoff the camera! Live for that moment. I suspect I’m not the only one out there who will still be out there more than happy to know you are less stressed and enjoying picking up the camera just slightly more. As they say, “ less is more” Don’t forget to be kind to yourself.❤

Max to preserve the bananas pick bunches off amd wrap the joint where they are all attached to each other in either clingfilm or foil. They last for weeks if you get a glut of them at once.

Hi Max and Occy ❤ I can't wait to see the next video. Once you've taken the storage items and moved those the bathroom would be good to do next. With the kitchen you could build a small wall beside the fridge and then keep the U shape. Just make the bench/return a little longer. Then use shelves on the wall to give it an open feel rather than cupboards. As this will make it appear larger also and not closed in. You could even put a shelf above all the windows in the kitchen and the seating/dining area. To provide you with more space to place items you use often. The little cupboard currently on the wall in the kitchen would serve well in the bathroom. You've done a fantastic job with the house. Banana bread and cake are always good options too. I wish you all the best 💜

Max, for the bananas that you don't eat and they turn over-ripe, there is a great solution. Peel the overripe bananas, freeze, and use them in your smoothies. Or, better yet, make "nice" cream with them.
Also, add an egg to 1-2 Bananas and make healthy pancakes.

Max the bedroom looks great and the living room does too, and will be even better when you manage to get what you need to finish it off. Never underestimate the need for storage, it makes perfect sense to create the space for storage so you can work on the next project. I think that will probably be the bathroom, as the wall impacts on the kitchen. Pleased to see you are taking care of yourself. Occy is so cute and funny, the look on his face when you started taking the wall apart lol. I never knew that about banana trees dying once they produced the fruit x
The 'built ins' look great. The best part about getting things second hand, apart from the cost savings, is knowing they are saved from landfill. I just picked up some wardrobe inserts for free from my local buy swap sell yesterday, and after having no wardrobes for about 20 months, I'm looking forward to installing them.

Take it easy on the bananas. I‘m not sure on these type of bananas, but the regular ones are supposed to help your digestion get firmer if needed. So, if you can‘t poop, maybe eat less bananas. Even though I understand that you would hate for them going to waste. The new closet/wall looks awesome!

LOVE the head gear! About the sun, when it comes out and it's been a while since you've seen it, it feels like seeing an old friend. Glad you're old friend made an appearance. I did a similar thing at my house (assembling a wardrobe -- we call it a closet here -- around some prefab shelving). Made the closet SO much easier. Nice to see you were able to reuse so much of the previous finish material -- phenomenal! It looks so good and will be great to have that space. My vote for next project is the bathroom. There have certainly got to be times when you don't really want to go outside to take care of business, ahem. . . BUT when nature calls, you don't really have a choice. How nice will it be to be able to walk around the corner INSIDE and "pay the water bill?!" The end of the video just made me think of "Here Comes the Sun." Give it a listen, it's a good one!

I loved this video especially because we're working on a similar re-framing project with ikea closets. I love your bedroom now. I can't believe how perfect the second hand cabinets fit your space. It's an amazing space for you to wake up to everyday.
Bananas freeze very well. If you slice them before freezing, you can pop them into smoothies or make banana shakes out of them.
Yup, you took the words out of my mouth. I want to add that most fruit smoothies have bananas as a base. They are to die for and I can't imagine how much better smoothies with bananas off the vine must be!

Maybe a good next project (to make the most of the rain) is to create some rainwater channels from the gutters? Chains will help control / distribute the flow of water, and you could use the water for the gardens or grey water use.

I worked on a banana farm and they are always picked green to be ripened later on.
Little tip for you, there will be new offshoots around the base of the tree. When you take the bunch off and cut down the trunk you use a spade to cut away all the smaller ones and just choose the healthiest suckling to remain. That way you will get the best tree to grow and replace the previous one.
You bedroom looks so cozy and peaceful! The closets look great and like they have always been there! Can't wait to meet your girlfriend! I hope she wants to be part of your channel.❤ how wonderful you found someone to share adventures with.❤

Okay, next project. Since you do have a nice bathroom, albeit outside, it will work for now. You might want to think about your kitchen. It would be nice for you to have a place to prepare a good, nutritious meal for yourself and friends. It's nice that you have fresh bananas to eat, but you can overdo it on bananas, you know. Too much potassium if you're not careful. Once the rainy season is over, you'll be able to get your vegetables growing so you can eat some nice veggies. And, oh my - roasted veggies in the oven with a little salt and pepper and olive oil - yum!!!! So, that's just my suggestion. You might want to check with your special guest this weekend. Just a quick tip, if you didn't know, ripe / overripe bananas freeze very well - just peel them then they can be eaten as banana lollies or added to any recipe that calls for banana - like a smoothie!
