That was straight up fishing adventure -- solo battle with a torpedo tuna! Great video.
You're doing a fine job, clearing and setting your boat up to land your fish. I'm sold, subscribed, and a like as well.Fine job young man.

No worries,a man that knows what he's doing, is fun to watch.
Love the story about your rod n reel man .. cool stuff.
First video i've seen, you haven't even caught a tuna yet, but i've already hit the sub button. You seem like a cool dude! Excited for future content.
Thank you.
Epic fishing adventure Mike! Your videos are slowly getting me to brave an open water fishing trip in a similar size hull...just need a couple more shakedown days in the bay for the whaly. Sub'ed and thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge!
My pleasure! Def get a bunch of shakedowns in and make sure you don’t out run your comms.
Nice one! Now to get that bait tank working and you're set. The BFT are big this year and they are out there. Go get 'em.
Right On! Congratulations! Sweet to get it on your grandpa's gear.

Hey bro, it was a pleasure to meet you today out at the coronado islands. Beautiful weather but not much bite today. I was the guy fish in a boston whaler.
Yeah it was great meeting you as well! That’s an awesome boat you got there. We ended up finding a few spots of fun sized barracuda, kinda saved the day.

New to your channel, I’m slowly rigging up my 19ft dual console for offshore in the gulf coast. Almost ready to to fish.

"Back it up Mike! Back it up. Oohhh! Watch his frickin' legs Mike!" - The Jerky Boys
Wow the drag on that Penn Int’…. Not the smoothest lol. Time for a greasing. Great job my man!! Congrats!!!
Thank you!
Been fishing SD my whole life and on my own boats but still enjoy watching your videos. Seen you on the water a couple times. I like your stoke. On the bait tank, I’m guessing you don’t have a thru hull. It’s not a big deal to add one and your system will perform much better. Keep the vids coming. Tight lines!
Thank you! Yeah the bait well is just pretty small.
Damm I have to subscribe bro, great job
Thank you!
Cool video keep going
Good to see you back. That’s tuna life, tight lines. Nice catch.
Thank you!
Just subscribed. Really digging your channel 👍🏿
Thank you!
I have the exact same 17 Whaler you have, but the commercial version (17’ Justice). Awesome boat - though it has its quirks. Recently installed a spot lock trolling motor and it’s a game changer.
I like those Justice versions. They seem more robust. A spot lock is a game changer, been thinking about getting one for a while. They really come in handy wreck fishing in deep water.
@@honeyhole getting it mounted on the boat is a bit tough because of the lip on the bow. Let me know if you ever decide to pull the trigger and I’ll show you my custom mount.
@@sltang1184 sounds good.
@@honeyhole the 17 outrage ii feels a lot bigger than the classic 17 outrage. It rides way different too.
Your the man fish on hope to catch up with you all and. Enjoy a boat ride or wide open bite it's all In the fun and great People
Thank you!
i subscribed because you made me feel bad for freeloading on the views :) lol
Just subscribed brotha! Keep on keeping on,tight tines!
Thank you
Nice fishing!!
Thank you!
Nice 👍🏽 😊 thanks for sharing. New friend here and stay connected. Watching all the way from Saipan, CNMI 🇲🇵. Stay blessed and stay safe.
Thank you !
@@honeyhole you’re welcome
I know that boat! Whaler Outrage! Had a 96 Outrage 17. Amazing ride for it's size. Could handle anything!
yes outrage 18 jet drive
Great work for doing it solo mate. When ever I have the gopro mounted on the boat I’ve always got it connected to power bank so I never have to worry about battery. You got my sub mate 👍 maybe one day we’ll T up a calab. Tight lines
Thanks man, I definitely gotta figure out the battery thing. When you make it to the west coast hit me up!
@@honeyhole done deal mate 😀 if your ever in Vic u let me k is as well.
Cheers
Nice job on the old school International, Cal-Sheets can convert them to 2-speed if you were interested in upgrades...then again if it works for you as is, don't mess with it.
Thanks for the heads up.
Awesome mate💪⚓🎣🎣just subscribed
Thank you!
Love this. My boat similar so it resonates. Ill take the plunge thanks to you! Subscribe button smashed.
I love to hear that. Thank you!
What the length of your small boat. I have an carolina skiff JVX 18 we went out of sandiego last year with it to the kelp beds just outside of the navy point and out around the oil platform in and around the lobster traps
We have a 17’ Outrage
Good job
Thank you
Good video bos mantap.
New subscriber, Outstanding! I am just getting into tuna off Cape Cod / Martha’s Vineyard. Hope to have the same results you have bro
That’s where the big ones live.. good luck
Nice butterball! It would be great to see you filet the next beast at the end. subbed.
sounds good!
Awesome man!!!
Thanks!
Nice
You seem exhausted and somewhat sad. After a huge accomplishment we feel the same emptiness? Congratulations.
Hear u brotha,, just subscribed.
Thank you.
That’s a long fight… Nice fish 🎣
Nice Mike
Thank you
Bro this was so fun to watch! Nice job all by yourself too!
Thank you!
I didn't know John Rahm can fish too!
Good Shit Brotha.!! I live in Rancho Cucamonga but launch outta the same place on Shelter Island, I'm a small boat guy also 19" Fisher with a 60 HP. Always tell people doesn't matter the size of the boat cause you can't catch fish on the couch.!! #Cali-Fishing, #tugisthedrug
🤙🤙
bayliner has 19 fooot cabibn cruset
Awesome man !!
Happy for you . Great video 👍
We’re you trolling that Mack on the 2 0 hook ? Any weight ?
Thank you. I was drifting, had it on a sinker rig at 60’
what happens if you fall off the boat while cruising?
If I watch I subscribe. The reels looked like Penn international 30 and 50. I have the 50,2 in fact.Same age and they are still going strong. The clickers are so loud. Turning them off while fighting a fish makes the reel handle smoother. Nice tuna!!
Thanks for the advice and you are close, they are 20 and 50 internationals. Good eye.
@@honeyhole Hard to tell in these videos,it looked smaller than a 30. That makes the catch of that size reel a testament to their durability. Not many people can say they have caught a tuna of that size on a 20. Good work.
@@riverakers thank you! Yeah these reels seem very well made.
Congratulations
Thank you !
I wish the seas were that nice when we fished
This boat would have never made it out there.
Wow, amazing. I tried to get somebody to go out with me on Friday, but couldn't find anyone. We ended up going Saturday. Spent half a day between the islands and the 302. We even went up past north island and back across the Nine mile bank. Not a single bite.
But, we stopped by the Whistler on the way in and I got a 16.4 lb Halibut on the first drop.
Congrats on your tuna.
Dude, congrats on the beast halibut…
Im off on Fridays!! If you ever need a partner again I'd love to join and throw down on fuel!! Never been tuna fishing. Live down in IB
Nice video
Thank you!
Just started getting into off shore fishing. Im outta Pedro just up from you. Great video and I like your style. Fuck all the negative comments, you are doing it just fine brother! You like the 17’ whaler huh? All my buddies tell me not to run that boat but you make it work! Great video good luck and thanks!!!
Thanks man. For me this hull works, I have the outrage which is a V hull. A lot of people run the Montauk, which is more flat and will definitely slap the hell out of you offshore.
Hey mike did you work the canyon west of SD. Thinking about going out the next few weeks but I wanted to avoid Mexican waters pass port not valid at this time
There have been tons of tuna just west of SD. Not sure how long they will stick around though.
You can do some overnighters out of Fisherman's Landing, SD that do NOT need a passport in Mexican waters. They post the requirements on the website.🤟
I just subscribed .. what size of boat you cruising on ? Cant tell what you got ? ... i just bought a project .. my boat was made from a small independent manufacter called mr b's boats in Louisiana .. its a 17ft deep v .. 2005 .. got a 90hp evinrude etec on it .. thing is solid .. i got some work to do to get it set up and rwady to fish .. but im getting there... ill take it out a little ways on calm days.. thanks for the awesome content ... dont give up keep it up man !
Thank you. It is a 17’ outrage with a Yamaha 115.
What is the brand of rod that you have there hooked up to that tuna? Looks very similar to the one I have.
It’s an old custom rod. Not sure of the blank.
Not sure if you've already answered this but could you share you rigging and troll speed?
For the live bait I used a sinker rig, which is a sinker rubber banded to the line at the knot between the Fluro and main line. I had a 2-0 circle on the mackerel and 1-0 circles on the sardines. I had them at 60ft, 30ft and one fly lined.
For the trolling I was going around 5-7knts with a spreader bar.
Go buy yourself an external battery on amazon! They are like 20$ and you dont need to worry about batteries ever again on the gopro.... unless you forget it like i do lol. But when i do bring it i can run the gopro all day if i wanted and not run out of battery.
Damn, I’ll have to check that out. Could be a game changer.
@@honeyhole it works well as long as you remember to bring it ha.
Nice job from hawaii.
Thank you!
