Cybertruck damaged from a rough road and improper cleaning? There is rust! Don’t clean it like this!

  • I noticed that my Cybertruck incurred some damage from our 11.5-mile dirt road. The plastic fenders have been hit by rocks and show signs of wear and tear. After thinking about it, this damage is very minimal and inexpensive to fix if I ever choose to do so compared to my GMC truck.
I've shared the details of my cleaning mishap so that others can learn from my experience. While it is concerning to find these issues, I am glad to know that they are better than I initially thought and, in fact, are not a problem at all.
This story has a happy ending for all Cybertruck owners and potential buyers.
Please read the Tesla manual before cleaning your Cybertruck

Always have a gallon of gasoline on hand, small amount on a rag will give you a very nice finish on the stainless

You are a brave man taking a power washer to a cybertruck.

From the Tesla Cybertruck manual: If using a pressure washer, maintain a distance of at least 12" (30 cm) between the nozzle and the surface of Cybertruck. Keep the nozzle moving and do not concentrate the water jet on any one area.

I've heard of Tesla refusing to warranty battery packs thatv were damaged or destroyed by driving through deep water. I wouldn't go near the battery pack with a pressure washer.

I used IronX on mine when it was new and it removed all those weird streaks and rust looking spots, etc. Everyday Chris made it look like you can spray the whole vehicle and then rinse it. But I found if it sits more than a few minutes before you rub it streaks will form. The solution is to do a single panel at a time. Let it sit for 3 minutes or so and then rub the ironX in a bit and rinse. The results are amazing. It will strip your stainless to a perfect finish. I plan to try the protectaclear product in a few weeks. But I like the bare stainless look and don't care if it's perfect. ONR and elbow grease remove my day to day fingerprints and stuff.

Don’t know if it’s possible but in someway you may try a set of four mud flaps!!!

Right! Who would have thought driving a vehicle in the harsh environment…like earth, would make things get damaged. 🤔

I would also prefer the stainless steel look for the Cyber Truck! After all it suppose to be a tough truck? But it's good to hear your views on this.

Sure. 3 battery packs, 2 drive motors + 1001 broken electronic gizmos later, it most definitely will!

Remember it's not paint. See what DMC owners do. I think they used steel wool on their stainless steel bodies.

Get a rail dust remover for the rust spots. It's not in the skin.

Almost all of these owner reviews list a ton of things that are a bit of a problem to rubbing it wrong and leaving marks all over it then comes 'but I love it". Hopefully for your hail proof windows mother nature can't throw as hard as the softy that smashed both windows on it first showing. The look on Elon's face was pure gold. This guy is great with how it leaves marks while cleaning but says he likes the look.😂

Elon claims it’s the world’s toughest truck! But its parts are all made in china. Truck falls apart and fanboys are in denial. I dont blame them. It’s human nature to convince yourself it’s still a good truck when you know that you spent over 100k on literally garbage truck. 😂😂😂

American YT is just people with lots of property, over consuming but without any friends. Their desperation to show people what theh have drives them to YT.

America is so bad, life here is so bad, America over consumes, America is friendless in the world, Americans are desperate for love but only have property for comfort. Thank you, citizen of the planet, for putting it all into proper perspective. What paradise do you live in, please tell us so we can ship all the immigrants to your land , where life is better.
