Evaluation of fractures of the wrist can be initially based on the radiographs taken in different views, while considering radial inclination, height, ulnar variance, volar tilt, and ligament attachments. These fractures can be managed nonoperatively and operatively; management should consider failure predictors, dorsal plating, volar plating, and combined volar dorsal plating as well as acute carpal tunnel and rehabilitation protocols. Nightstick fractures, isolated ulnar fractures, are fractures of the forearm. A classic example of radius and ulnar fracture is shown through a patient’s radiograph and the management of the fracture. Isolated radial or ulnar fractures often occur with associated injuries such as Galeazzi fractures, Monteggia fractures, and Essex-Lopresti fractures. Compartment syndrome can occur with forearm fractures. Other discussion includes tips for examining radiographs, managing stiffness in elbow injury, prevention of nonunion, waiting period to determine the carpal tunnel, and postoperative care of forearm fracture.
