It's especially funny because you wouldn't necessarily think he was arguably the greatest strongman of all time just by looking at him in this video. If it weren't for the fact that the text on the screen mentioned he was a former champ, he woulda seemed like some random big guy who happened to wander over to the competition and watch what was going on.
That bit was phenomenal cos Paw had been relentlessly slagging himself the whole way along in a scenery chewing alpha move but he either didn't get or chose not to get that slagging and breezed right on past.
This was surprisingly wholesome. I mean sportsmen are usually down to earth and positive people, but we know how Americana can influence some people. Very nice episode!
Fucking delighted you met the Stoltman Brothers. Two of the greatest men that have graced this planet, from round the corner from me. Proudest Highlander out there 😍
3:24 Andrew being filmed next to a sign that says "NO FILMING" and saying "We'll fucking see about that..." is the absolute most succinct display of the essence of the Channel 5 spirit I've ever seen. That image, black and white, high-contrast (like how Obey's Andre the Giant image was made) should be on a tee-shirt.
The sign was about not filming the events. TV contracts are how World’s Strongest Man make a majority of their money, so when people film the events it hurts their profits. Sucks for the fans because we have to wait months after the fact until it airs on TV to watch it, but that’s how the athletes and the organization earn their money from the event.
Personally, I don't like how some of the more thoughtful interviews were cut for the sake of comedy, and this video felt a lot more shallow and ham-fisted than previous content. I definitely liked the people that were being interviewed, but as far as Andrew and the production side of things went I think this is one of their worse videos myself.
he doesn't really say anything that creates a conversation, he asks a very open ended and vague question, that can give lots of different types of people a lot of different responses he just does what a journalist is supposed to do, be unbiased, and not give his opinion, he doesn't want to argue with these people, or talk to them necessarily (at least not on video) he just wants their raw take on a subject.
I like how the news clip didn't tell me much. I learned more and was inspired more by this 10 minute video rather than a years worth of regular news. Keep it up. 💯
Man y'all tell me why my manager keeps getting on to me about taking a break. I work at Wal-Mart after being retired for 10 years. I don't know what y'all kids be talking about these days and the CSM keeps telling me to take break but Idk what that means. One day they take me back to HR and say I need to be shown how to take break so they start clapping tf outta my checks. The CSM then said my turn I'm finna break one off in you. And my guts been spilling out ever since. I can't even play pickup at the Y because when I jump my booty hole catches the wind like a umbrella and it takes me forever to get back on the ground. I've noticed it's actually a lot more common in extreme sports where the athletes know they're in a specific niche and massively respect the strength, agility, or other skills required to do certain things. Like, my ear's not glued to the ground or anything, but I don't remember the last time I heard about beef between skateboarders, BMXers, or motocross riders.

@@cheshirecynic3061 This is true. I’ve noticed that most “individual” sports are always the most humble. It’s the team based sports that show poor sportsmanship, which I think speaks numbers about how people are
@@pyxidus_ I think a lot of it has to do with clan mentality, like, many people that play in team sports tend to develop a universal "us vs them" attitude, whereas most people in individual sports and hobbies just have respect for anybody as crazy as they are, anybody who's willing to put in the same level of effort and dedication to their craft.
@@cheshirecynic3061 I think there’s still an us vs them mentality in individual sports it’s just the us is the entire sport not just singular teams. I’ve noticed skiers and snowboarders don’t really get along but will both be super cool to the people within those respective sports (mostly snowboarders) same kind of deal with skateboarding and bmx
It's really encouraging seeing how the scene has developed in the past few years, was shocked when I saw this collab on Instagram. It's probably not the best advertisement, but it's still nice that an extreme sport like this is getting to a wider audience

America is an idiocracy. We're progressively losing IQ points with each generation, studies have confirmed that
All the dumb ones are still in Europe
“Zydrunas Savicas, Worlds Strongest Man 2009” That’s the understatement of the century.
It is funny how one of his goals was to meet the world's strongest man he befriended one of the most tenured and there was zero fanfare about it.
@@gummyboots His chillness is part of what makes him the GOAT
yeah, zero hype about hanging out with the Greatest was (intentionally?) hilarious.
Greatest strongman of all time
It's especially funny because you wouldn't necessarily think he was arguably the greatest strongman of all time just by looking at him in this video. If it weren't for the fact that the text on the screen mentioned he was a former champ, he woulda seemed like some random big guy who happened to wander over to the competition and watch what was going on.
"I like your beard... and tribal tattoos." You're amazing Andrew. Don't ever change and seriously, thanks for everything you (all) do.
That bit was phenomenal cos Paw had been relentlessly slagging himself the whole way along in a scenery chewing alpha move but he either didn't get or chose not to get that slagging and breezed right on past.

The comedic delivery of "no he does not stop this nonsense" 9:24 is something to be admired

Sucks for the fans because we have to wait months after the fact until it airs on TV to watch it, but that’s how the athletes and the organization earn their money from the event.
id buy that merch
Totally would buy that shirt.
The most gangster shit lmao
Excited to see you here in Cleveland on the 21st!
Love the weird cuts and questions. Keep it up man
This is one of the best Andrew interviews ever. Everyone is so genuine and nice.
yeah, i loved all these guys.
Except the guys having a shit fit about men not being men bc they can’t cut a tree down and kill a bear. The… mathematical physicist.
People say this on every video he makes. AND THEYRE RIGHT! Every video i see feels like the best. That’s high quality shit
Probably because 90% of the people he interviewed are from the UK
your ability to create deep conversation with so many social groups is highly underrated. you and your team are phenomenal
Its called adapting. Some people can do it because of one simple action, respect.
Well Said. I totally agree.
"deep conversation"
Cringe. Actually hilarious that you think this.
@@carclain123 you probably dont experience it because nobody wants to talk to you.
he doesn't really say anything that creates a conversation, he asks a very open ended and vague question, that can give lots of different types of people a lot of different responses
he just does what a journalist is supposed to do, be unbiased, and not give his opinion, he doesn't want to argue with these people, or talk to them necessarily (at least not on video) he just wants their raw take on a subject.
I like how the news clip didn't tell me much. I learned more and was inspired more by this 10 minute video rather than a years worth of regular news.
Keep it up. 💯
The journalism is very great that you produce you are truly special Andrew
THIS MADE ME SO HAPPY AS A STRONGMAN ATHLETE THIS MADE MY YEAR THANK YOU ANDREW

The Andrews cast of weird but strangely endearing people expands.
As a fan of strongman this was unexpected but great...pretty mindblowing seeing seeing Andrew interacting with guys like Luke stoltman and big Z...most of those dudes are chill af

Now that Andrew has made it to the world's strongest man I'm crossing my fingers that he'll attend a bodybuilding contest like Mr.Olympia one day
I second this motion. I wanna see Andrew interview Kai Greene.
Fuckkkk yes Mr Olympia coverage from Channel 5... that'd be a dream come true. The journalism around it is so fake. The one coverage I always loved was luimarco. But he doens't do much anymore. Thatd be amazing
Yeah thats a super strange/weird subculture and event thats kinda up his alley
Strongmen seen pretty chill, I have a feeling a lot of the stranger, more intense people are going to be at places like Mr. Olympia
He doesn't cover normal things just people to laugh at. If you don't get it chances are hahaha
Those two guys getting in the ice bath made me laugh harder than most comedy movies over the last few years. It was perfect.
Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder
honestly I couldn't breathe, thats how hard of a laugh it caused me
They were the chillest ones, no pun intended. You could see the straight dudes radiating insecurity and a need to see themselves as "real men", whereas the tub guys were just happy to be among the big, hard, strong guys they want to be and be with.
@@toxihex876 how do you know who's straight? Are you talking about the shorter guys in orange? They do seem like the generic American toxic masculinity crew. 😆

What I always really liked about strongman is they all genuinely root for each other to do well. How often in competitive sports do you see that?
I've noticed it's actually a lot more common in extreme sports where the athletes know they're in a specific niche and massively respect the strength, agility, or other skills required to do certain things. Like, my ear's not glued to the ground or anything, but I don't remember the last time I heard about beef between skateboarders, BMXers, or motocross riders.
@@cheshirecynic3061 instantly though of skateboarding. homies will sometimes help you and give you tips, so that you can win.. making themselves lose in the process. it's beautiful i love sk8
@@cheshirecynic3061 This is true. I’ve noticed that most “individual” sports are always the most humble. As an ex cross country/track athlete and boxer I can attest that everyone around me was so respectful of opponents, and made those around them feel special even if they were struggling.
I’m glad strength sports are becoming more maninstream lol, it’s crazy watching Andrew interview dudes like Big Z, it’s like worlds colliding
And only labeled him as WSM 2009 😭
Just because Channel 5 is covering this event doesn't mean it's more mainstream. I would almost argue the opposite
It's really encouraging seeing how the scene has developed in the past few years, was shocked when I saw this collab on Instagram. It's probably not the best advertisement, but it's still nice that an extreme sport like this is getting to a wider audience
@@jamesflood7985 nah Strength sports at are an all time high currently. Especially obscure ones like strongman and power lifting.

Why did that man get in the bath and then put his erect penis onto another means lap and then start urinating and then say "wow that feels good" while continuing the interview like the weirdest thing that's ever been recorded didn't just happen?
