The Ayew brothers, son's of Abedi Pele Ayew, Andre and Jordan were born and raised in France but chose to play for Ghana, Didier Drogba and Serge Aurier got to France at the age of 5 so they were raised in France, could've played for France as they were eligible but played for Ivory Coast

Geoffrey Edwin Kondogbia played for Les Bleus Under 20 and won the FIFA u20 world Cup in 2013 with Paul Pogba as the team captain. But then he chose to represent Central African Republic team.
Then also Wahbi Khazri in the team.
He was born in France but represent Tunisia. As of now, he has played an important role for Tunisia and is the heart of Tunisia national team. He scored against his own country of birth when Tunisia played against France in the last group match of World Cup 2022.
Khazri is not good enough to play with France.
Didier Drogba is a very good example

Most of them were not first choices, i think the biggest reggret for France were Drogba and Mahrez.
Didier Drogba also has french citizenship, was trained as a youth in France and would have been eligible to play for France.
Most African players have either French or English citizenship
