- Can you beat Pikmin without the use of the whistle? In this video I answer this question by doing a full playthrough of pikmin without the whistle. The whistle allows you to save pikmin from hazards like fire or water, call them when they are sitting idle, or help them avoid enemy attacks. Without the whistle pikmin becomes an extremely difficult game, watch as I suffer through it all for your enjoyment.

I would say, now try and beat the game without pressing the A button, then I forgot you'd need the pluckaphone modifier in order to do anything

I actually did my own no whistle run for the first 3 games a while ago, and I am planning on doing the fourth.
You can actually push the box in the final trial btw. You just have to throw a ton of blues from the left side (the pikmins’ hitboxes push each other).

@@InsatiableMonkey it could, but getting lucky enough to have a bomb spawn on the lower ledge to clip would be way more tedious than just using blue pikmin.

Day 9 libra blowhog avoiding explanation (and maybe also fire avoiding): Pikmin 1 and 2 have a case of "if you can't see it, it doesn't exist". In order to save on hardware resources Pikmin 1 and 2 will not process most objects if they are far off-screen. It's something that is abused in many speedruns of the game and would make many of your challenges easier (but also feel somewhat disingenuous).

Though I'd say maybe it'd be best to have less 'teaser' shots since they spoil some things, like the previews of the final trials spoiling that you failed the 15-day challenge with the day counter visible in the corner, or the armored cannon beetle fight being much climactic when we already know exactly the trouble you had
Regardless, those were just my opinions, it was still an entertaining watch!
One trick for collecting idle pikmin in the no whistle run.
See those idle pikmin at minute 12:00? Instead of trying to individually collect them all, use your pikmin on the pellets to the right, and make them carry them back to base.
They carriers'll get in the way of the idle pikmin, and they will stop being idle to try and help with the pellet carrying. Even if they can't help because of the maximum capacity, they WILL go back to your side if you're close enough to them when they give up trying to help. This can be replicated whenever a similar scenario occurs. I find it way faster, although it might not work with all of the bunch.

Lol I actually don’t know how that happened, I don’t remember doing it and I watched the video so many times during editing and didnt even see it. Must have been some deep seeded muscle memory lol my mistake entirely, thankfully it didnt really effect the run like you said.

idk if anyone else has mentioned this or not, but day 9 can be explained by deloading, a general rule of pikmin 1 and i think 2 as well? is that anything not on screen is almost always unloaded to save resources, it's used a lot in speedruns to minimize combat on part retrieval
tldr if you can't see it it can't hurt you :>
Even without the bomb trick, Emperor *should* be easy enough without whistling. The more bombs he swallows at once, the longer he's stunned, so sacrificing like ten yellows or whatever will keep him stunned longer. You can also wiggle the c stick around to throw pikmin at a faster rate. Even if you don't manage to do it in one go, he wouldn't have much HP left, so simple attrition should do it. The same c stick wiggling would also help a lot against Armored Cannon Beetles
With the benefit of hindsight and using a couple of tricks/quirks in the programming, I honestly think you could do this within 15 days. I'm trying to brainstorm a way to get around that box puzzle in Final Trial, but the only thing I can think of is maybe trying to get an out of bounds glitch with some pikmin and carrying them around. But I'm not sure if there's anything around there that could let you easily get out of bounds
It's very unlikely but you can get out of bounds if one of the bomb rocks falls down from the ledge. (This has only happened to a handful of people before.)

Have you ever dabbled in making a TAS? There's obviously something special about doing these crazy challenges legit, but experimenting with a TAS might allow you to push the absolute limits of what's possible in the game, even if it's just for curiosity. With rewind and infinite attempts, what's the shortest amount of time you could do one of these challenges? Could you get some of the parts that are normally out of reach? I wonder, with enough perseverance and perfect gameplay, would a run like no throws + no whistle + only reds be possible? It's insane to ever suggest a human try that, but perhaps it just might be possible...
Whew that was surprising, wouldn't have guessed the yellows would be the most useful with all the fire hazards.
I'd expect it's possible to beat pikmin2 like this, but I doubt it'd be possible to 100% the treasures.

also in pickmin 1 there some rule among (us lmao) them there is the rule 34 :
rule 34 : if u don't see it it doesn't exist
4 exemple : if u carry the Radiation Canopy and don't watch the canon beteal, it won't attack (this is due to the limit of the gamecube btw)

I don't know why CZcams didn't recommend this. Algorithm showed me Pikmin 2's no-whistle video first, and I had to manually come find this one when the Pikmin 2 video was referencing this one.

In Pikmin 1, idle blue pikmin can save other pikmin from drowning, but I feel like that would be a hard thing to try and do without a whistle.
Just have seen that he did it in this video, but at least it is a way to save pikmin

Swarming in pikmin 1 is the optimal way to fight most enemies
Ok, so it's possible to finish the game without whistle and 100% the game with just one whistle. I'm absolutely impressed you could even defeat emperor bulblax without whistle!
in pikmin 1, at least the og, idk about switch, if you cant see it. its basically not real if you zoom in and look away your pikmin are immortal, if you do it correctly

Did you know that you can use blue pikmin to rescue other drowning pikmin? The Pikmin AI will have inactive blue pikmin near the water rescue drowning red and yellow pikmin near them. They throw the pikmin pretty far and it's very wild.

29:15 yeah it's true u can even test it by trowing red on a stone wall then a yellow with a bomb on magicly the red will run back to u (it also work on enemy as u see)
Quite a few bad decisions here. Both with the armored cannon beetle, the second to last ship part, and never resetting the day to improve parts per day rate.
You can swap by holding a pikmin ans pressing the z button i think (i played on switch)
the switch version is based on the wii version of the game, which i think added that over the original gamecube version, you can change types in the gamecube version of 2 though
I forgot the ai for the pikmin is actually awful in the first game

after watching your pacifist run, I definitely think it would have been easier to just let your pikmin try and carry the radiation canopy past the armored cannon beetle rather than try to fight him, but I'm not sure how consistent that strategy actually is.
