oxygen is toxic to Olimar. it baffles me how people read the dialogue and still forget this simple detail.... even after reading it again
I think it was retconned in pikmin 3 to where it's the oxygen CONCENTRATION that's deadly, not the oxygen itself

Koppaites can handle a little of it, but they don't necessarily _need_ it to breathe.

I wonder if Shyntos realizes how lucky he was to run out of time on Day 15; he was so close to experiencing the nightmarish wrath of the Smoky Progg, which only hangs around the first 15 days. If this would’ve happened day 14, I believe the Progg would’ve still been lurking on Day 15.
You can kill it with bombs or by attacking it with a small group of pikmin with a large group somewhere else. But this guy would most definitely be ripped apart by the progg, as he wouldn't know to employ those techniques.
@@dinosaurusfeta That’s exactly my point; a majority of people who play this game blind either lose a ton of Pikmin to the Smoky Progg or never even encounter it because they don’t come across its location until after day 15 when it’s no longer a factor.

You don't ACTUALLY have to be at your camp at sundown. You just have to have all your pikmin at camp or with you, and you're automatically taken to your camp at sundown. Any Pikmin not at camp or with you is left behind.
I’m on game 4 and I still go to camp I just get scared even though I know I don’t need to be

@@crazycanyon3028 At sundown, yeah, don't want a newly flowered Pikmin to get left behind. But any other time, you go for that nectar.
the hardest part about learning pikmin is learning micromanaging. When you're new you end up keeping your pikmin close to you because you don't want to lose them. but the key to pikmin is to multitask, set pikmin to carry a few objects, maybe some to work on a wall or bridge, and then move on to focus on something else. so long as you kill all the enemies nearby you should be fine

100% agree, I just play through the whole series, and i could not get a hang of the multitasking, I just barely beat the 1st game in like the last 2 mins of the 30th day

I love watching new people play Pikmin, because 1) new people discovering the monstrosities the franchise has to offer is always a joy (as well as people struggling with the early title's Pikmin AI) and 2) I love Pikmin so more people giving it a try is always nice! :)

Never heard of pikmin until mid last year (2023) because of my friend who told me a lot about it and they gave me their switch to play the first two. I was hooked!!! I really love this series!!
Do you live in a cave? How could not know about Pikmin?
Maybe you figured this out, but you don't actually have to get back to the base by sunset. You just need to make sure that all Pikmin are either in your party or near the base (basically within the circle formed by the onions and the Dolphin). Olimar can be on the opposite side of the map when the countdown ends and you'll be fine.
I'm upset that he didn't know to whistle at the pikmin that were on fire.
how was he supposed to know? It only tells you after in the first game
@@ninjabutnotninjaAn end-of-day log can tell you about it, if you've done nothing else majorly important that day, and if at least 1 Pikmin died to fire. It can be overwritten by boss logs, Pikmin tutorial logs, Olimar mourning a huge loss for the first time, or (hilariously) the eight logs on the Emperor Bulblax.
That's right, if you somehow did not lose a single Pikmin to fire until the Final Trial, one burns in the fire geysers, but you got to the Emperor Bulblax before the day was over, Olimar will start explaining the final boss instead of doing the fire tutorial.
Technically, even minibosses like the Goolix have logs that can pre-empt the fire, water, or bomb safety tutorials, but there's no fire in the Impact Site or Forest of Hope to even receive that tutorial in those locations.

Fun fact, for the original game cube release, if you throw a pikmin with a bomb, then whistle them, they'll drop the bomb, making them perfect to kill if you throw two bombs next to an enemy, whistle, and flee in terror
Can the enemies _swallow_ dropped bombs, though? That would be really helpful against the Emperor Bulblax, but I don't think the bombs function that way in Pikmin 1. I don't know if enemies can swallow dropped bombs in _any_ Pikmin game. Either a Pikmin has to be swallowed while holding the bomb, or the Pikmin throws the bomb, or the Pikmin sets the bomb down and it explodes on its own; but I don't think a Pikmin can set the bomb down, and _then_ the enemy ends up swallowing it. The tongue just passes right through, and it's as if the Pikmin just threw the bomb rock.
@@prayagsuthar9856 yes actually, normal enemies like bulborbs can eat bombs, however they usually have to be attached to the pikmin. However, the Emperor Bulblax has a special animation of his tongue hitting hit face, doing more damage and stunning him for longer if he eats a dropped bomb vs a bomb held by a yellow. It's a safe strategy to limit pikmin loss and have a quick cycle against it
@@prayagsuthar9856 Idk if any other enemies do, but the Emperor Bulblax *can* swallow dropped bombs, in fact it gets stunned for longer than if it ate the pikmin as well according to the wiki

I’ve heard of it, but neither have I until a few months ago.
You know, ur right. I don't think I have ever heard someone say pikmin is bad. Sure I've heard people say a specific pikmin game might be bad (mostly pikmin 3) but never just the entire series being bad.
maybe this is my nostalgia as p3 was my first pikmin game (that i actually played myself, id watched 1 and 2 before), but I don't even think any pikmin fans think 3 is BAD, just rushed and untapped potential. its actually one of my favorites mechanics and bosses wise, the fruit collecting is very satisfying and it just has a lot of quality of life improvements. the bosses are some of the most memorable for me. plus i still think its the best looking game in the series, over 4 honestly. there's lots of things to love about it besides it being sort of a baby game, but thats fixed in deluxe with ultra-spicy mode.

I don't get how the Emperor Bulblax was so difficult for me. I could never defeat it, I would go in with 100 pikmin, spend the whole night beating its face, using up all the bombs, and still not kill it before the time limit.
