Beauty of an old grain truck. I learned to drive at the age of 9 in one of those. Standing behind the wheel and shuttling corn from my grandpa's field as he cut back to the grainbins where my uncle was waiting to start the auger. Lol. Great find there.
@@donaldsink8115 These 2 speed rear axles really were a lifesaver for a medium duty truck with a gas engine and only a 4 or 5 speed transmission, especially since the 1st gear was a granny gear.
@@charleshubert6751The only problem is half those 2 speeds don't work anymore. The electric ones are better than the vaccuum powered ones though. The vacuum ones barely worked when new.
@@HockeyGoon939 Agreed there, when I've had a problem with the electric ones out was usually nothing more than terminal corrosion or a broken wire. @@gotetnies Probably not on an old 66' carbureted Chevy One Ton. Fuel pump's ran off a cam lobe and were mounted on the front-right section of the "Small Block."
I worked for a guy one time that his dad had a 66 Chevy truck like that same engine and transmission. He kept it in the barned all the time. He hauled grain and hay with it. It was about 10 years old at that time and looked like a new truck the last time I saw it. Great old truck. You done good, and that will make someone a great truck. Stay safe, and God bless you. Dan 🇺🇸
Buddy that motor is priceless, do not let people fuck with that motor. Keep good oil in it and good air filters, good gas etc. 9.5 to 1 compression needs Premium Gas NO ETHANOL.
👍👌👏 Hooray 🙌, what a purchase! Congrats, congrats, congrats! Of course I'm eagerly looking forward to see this great truck in the next long video. Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you.
Drove one as a kid (14) on the wheat harvest back in 1978. Yes kids were allowed to drive. We got issued a farmer's license. Only could be used to do farming.
I have a 65 with a 292 and 4 speed. It's a 12 foot dump bed. It has made me hundreds of thousands of dollars, when scrap steel was so high. It's hauled off boilers that were huge. The people who loaded them said it would never pull them with the inline 6. They were amazed when it hauled several of them. One time I was hauling an air handler from a factory. It clipped a power line and dumped off in the city street. That was a fiasco. That thing barley sipped any gas , for it's size. We had to trucks with v8s , and the 292 would get double the fuel mileage, plus haul twice the load.
63 GMC B4000, 351, they swapped the 4 for a 5 speed, 2 speed rear. Knew zero about it but the tires looked good and held air. Wanted those for a different truck. Had 30k on it with an hour meter in the tach, all mechanical gauges. $200. Used it for 4 years then sold it for $600. Fair enough.
I worked with a guy for years and our every day dump truck was a 67 chevy with a 327 and 4 speed. It was a great truck. I think he sold it and now has a 77 chevy dump. I also have a 77 GMC Jimmy that I'm in the process of working on and rebuilding. Can't go wrong with a truck that you can fix pretty much anything with just a few wrenches.
You found the diamond. Someone who valued their piece. This os not a truck but, a contributing member of the family. Ready to live a life of working well beyond its time.
327 is one of the best engines out there.... Loved ours we were blessed my Husbands Uncle Had worked for Chevy for many years and every year he got a brand new car. He would always gift his cars to family... We married in 76 and the baby floated and beautiful shape.... It was an Impala....
Drove one just like it, hauling watermelons and hay.. Packed with melons in the field and hauled straight to buyers... towards the end of the season pulled it by the road and sold melons out of the back to tourist passing through.
That's a great looking grain truck, probably only used during harvest season and was well loved by the looks of it,, that brings back a lot of memories
Auctioned police impounds for years, when asked by a bidder if these cars run I'd reply "It's a roll of the dice, like a blind date you never know what you're getting".
However "327" in the case of that truck is NOT a V8 like you'd find in a passenger car or light truck in the 60's. it's a huge, slow reving, industrial v6 with enough torque to drag a mountain range.
I LOVE TO HAVE A TRUCK AS SWEET AS THAT.. IM OLD NOW BUT THAT IS A GREAT TRUCK..GOD SHINES ON YOU FOR GETTING A GEM LIKE THAT..THEY R SOME OF THE KOOLIST N BEST TRUCKS ON EARTH
Awesome old truck, please dont cut that up, i know ya cant save em all, if that has a title and no brakes, it needs a good home!

he will crush it, thats what he loves to do.
@@matzrat5006 wth? Thats horrible 😢
@@privateprivate1865 it is. im sure he will sell this one. too cherry to crush. be usable again with a cummins swap.

You hit the jackpot with this. That’s a nice looking old truck it looks like it’s been well maintained.👍👍
Dude. The truck is totally worth the video you made. My heart's breaking but I'm glad it happened well for you.
And it looks like its got a Mid-West grain box on it too! Great buy.
U got lucky. The seller was honest.
That’s the day you’re the windshield & not the bug. Happy trails to ya! 👍
Nice.... hadn't heard that one.😂
My dad had one of these on his farm. We worked the shit out it. Loved that truck

Nice piece of history. I wish I could afford to buy it. I'd come straight to Kansas and get it. Really nice truck
Good for you man! That's a cool truck, I see the two speed rear axle, big plus. Plus she's good looking too.
One of the first things I noticed. He didn't mention it. Most people wouldn't have any idea what it was.

Absolutely gorgeous. Take good care of the old lady.
Man you got the deal of the year. Congratulate.
Sweet truck! Great candidate for a vintage ramp truck. Hope someone steps up to buy it before the ol’ torch gets fired up.
Based on the video he just bought it not selling it
There are many Farms that need this style of truck . every thing mentioned about it makes it a Keeper !
I would love to see this as a "vintage" delivery truck staged at a winery.
You got to get that factory tack working. That's in good shape.
The motor in that truck sounds great you got a good deal bro.
Wow, that's a good find. I think you seriously lucked out, sight unseen.
It's a nice truck. But it depends on what he paid and he decided to leave that detail out.

Will you look at that? I am so happy for you, brothaman. You scored a hole in one!
Yeah, that's a gem. It paid off didn't it? Bravo broskie!
At first I thought it didn't start. I had to turn up the audio to hear how smooth and quiet it was running. Congratulations! Great find .
Think he waited for the fuel pump to prime. But I could be wrong.

We have some of the best looking clean old grain trucks hidden in barns and sheds and a lot still on the road in Kansas.

yes sir. So many trucks just like this that come out for a month a year then get stored inside for 11 months. This is a good example.
