- Save a ton and do it yourself!
Finished up building my vinyl fence. We finally have an enclosed back yard to keep the kids, I mean kids in!
We bought the material from a local supplier and though vinyl prices have gone up we saved a ton by doing it ourselves.
I'll share the tips and tricks of how I did it.

Great job but... this just convinced me to go ahead and hire someone to do it for us because there is no way in hell I will be able to do all that 😅
Right on!
Literally same
Me too💀
Fact
😂😂😂
It’s the lil helper for me🤗
Can't call him little, he is my BIG helper!
Did the concrete the same way but with 80 lb bags. Worked great.
Right on!
Love how your buddy helped you
He is "big" help!
Awesome. I’m about to put one up end of the month too.
Right on!
You did a great job. Clear and precise. Thank you. This was very helpful.
Nice job. Just ordered my fence stuff today to be delivered.
Right on!
Thank you so much for the video finally my parents well know about the installment of processing and then decide the next step appreciated.Great video.
Best of luck!
I smiled watching your baby helping 😊
He loves to help out, I love it.
Looks awesome.
Thanks!
Looks really nice with the house color.
Thanks!
Looks nice!
Much appreciated, thanks!
thanks. I am going to pretty much follow your guide.
Good luck!
Concrete for cedar posts are to keep water from rotting it. You dont need concrete for strength but I think its still a good idea.
For the vinyl you'd have to pack the dirt pretty good to not get a lot of movement.
Awesome work...very helpful video for our upcoming project! Thank you!
Great to hear!
Great work! Looks awesome!
Appreciate it, thanks!
Good project 😍
Thanks!
@@-DIYPRO- my points is still in processing when will be it credit
Wow cool thank you
Thank you!
THIS IS AWESOMEEEEEEEE
Thanks!
Impressive
look nice
Wow you make this look so easy can I still keep my Old Gates tho & just put like a Vinyl Gate with the Siding but keep my Wooden Fences all over the House(since I don't have those Tools & No friends to Help)
I guess you could try it out! not sure how that would look either.
That's my worry to start. I need that confidence I can do that.
You can do it!
you think a handymen can help with the post holes and concrete part that's the part that scar me. I confidence in doing the rest. Can a be a one man job?@@-DIYPRO-
I'm a nudist and I want to go outside naked skinny dipping and other things, but I have no privacy fence in my backyard. This video is very helpful tutorial to build one. Thanks for the upload :)
You may want to spend the extra for the taller fence!
@@-DIYPRO- How tall and how much will it cost?
Nice video! Where did you buy the vinyl fence? Thanks!
Nice
Thanks!
It look so easy. But I bet when I'm doing it myself it's so frustrating 😫 😒
Planning on installing a fence in the next couple of weeks.
Let us know how it goes!
Same her we just brought a home
Do you need to wait 24 or 48 hrs to put the panels in. After you concrete the poles in
Been nice to show how to locate holes. Next
Thank you for this video. I'm having a fence put up this month and it helps seeing you do it. Looks awesome!
Thanks!
Dude this is NOT how you properly install Poly.
@@kassidycorrea8173 Oh, how do you install it?
2nd video ive watched where there are no wooden posts. Hiw is that strong?
Ty soo much now all I have to do is convince My Wife to let me do it 🤦🏽♂️🤞🏽 wish me luck
Right on, and good luck!!
great video thank you! i guess the benefit of this type of fence vs a panel fence is that you can contour uneven ground nicely. i dont need that so i think a cheaper panel fence would be ok. why did the company have to trim the horizontal pieces for you? isnt it just pvc? cant you just cut it with a chop saw?
Yep, price plays a big part in it. I'm pretty sure they get the rails in long length so they cut them to size for you.
Is there away to fill screw holes in vinyl?
I have a wrap around fence and a bad back.. yup.. next house I buy will come with a privacy fence.
Right on!
What brand fence did you install?
How much was the whole cost? Vs having them to come do it?
You a 🐐😎👌
How deep are your holes? How much dirt did you put in the bottom? Two feet of post in the ground or 3? Great video btw
Thanks, they were 2 feet in the ground.
So, did you only use one bag of concrete per post?
You did a great job thinking of changing my old chain link fence. Can I know where did u order your fence please thank you
It was a local supplier, Utah Fence Warehouse.
@@-DIYPRO-
Thank you very much
That's really funny after I made the last comment it allowed me to like the video lol
It just wanted to make sure you really liked it!
Okay, so i read every comment before posting this question. Im about to tackle this exact project. About the same length of 150ft with a slight slope. I have heavy clay soil.
So here's where im confused. You left the posts hollow? Everything I've researched, says to use 4x4 wood posts, then slide the vinyl post over the wood and cement in the hole. I live high up on a mountain top, we get a lot of wind from the valley. Wouldn't it be more secure and last longer with wood 4x4 posts? BTW... Great video.
For high wind areas I'd definitely consult the supplier on what to do for the posts.
What store did you go to to have them custom cut the rails? Trying to use existing metal fence posts and just slip a vinyl fence over the post but some of my poles are 9’ apart and some are 8’
I got them from Utah Fence Warehouse. They are in northern UT
It looks nice but id just put brick wall with railings on too even though it going to be more expensive
Brick wall would be nice but way out of my budget.
Great video. How much did you spend on materials?
I can't remember the measurements exactly but I think we were about $3,000 for 150 ft.
Good 👍 job
Thanks!
awesome work . How many days did took?
A lot! haha, I'd say 3-6 days spaced over a couple weeks.
What screws did you use inside the posts for the rails?
Same as the top and side, decking screws.
GREAT JOB WHEN CAN YOU COME OVER AND DO MINE???
Just kidding I’m gonna start clearing my yard and start the install within a few weeks
Thanks for the video
I'll be right over!
Thanks for the video. I only need 4 posts for a small fence. Could you have cut the rails yourself just as easily?
Yes you can.
Some do come with metal stiffeners so if they do then you'd want them to do the cuts.
I know we don't have same amount of land but just curious what your total fencing cost was for this project? Trying to avoid shock when we do ours next year.
Mine was about $3,800... I think it was around $20 a linear ft. I'll have to look up the recite. Most places will tell you over the phone what their linear ft cost is for do it yourself and if you want labor included.
You know how to work plane , can you share with me , thank you
Great YT, what's the best way to search for the vinyl fench distributor?
I just googled "Vinyl fence near me"
@@-DIYPRO- Sweet, & thank you.
What is the color of your house by the way? Really like it
Thanks! It's James Hardie siding and the color is Night Gray.
I wonder how much would be cost of if I hire somebody 😅
How many bags of concrete did you use per hole? I see such varying recommendations.
I did one bag per hole.
@@-DIYPRO- thank you! I've seen everything from a half bag, all the way up to 5 bags!
Good work. Question, how did you decide on how many posts you needed and the distance between them. Say, the distance you needed to cover was 100 ft.
Most suppliers tell you to space the post around 6' on center. Depending on weather condition you can go longer.
No wood posts?????
Nope, just vinyl. For gate posts they do have metal inserts you can use for added strength.
Hopefully , this project is a success and then it becomes one of the best cryptos..............
It's still up and straight even after a couple wind storms so I'll call it a success.
I had a company install my fence and some rails keep popping out so I am going to use your screw idea. So just put it at a slight angle so it goes thru the tail and goes into the post?
Yep, easy as that.
@@-DIYPRO- I’m in Florida and we got hit with the hurricane and my entire fence blew apart. I watched this video during before it got bad. I was able to put the entire fence back together and now I just need a new gate but I’m confident I can handle it myself. Going to use your screw idea too. Thanks for the video. It helped me out!
You think wood or vinyl is better in cost what about easiness? I'm looking into doing this. Then you for your video
Wood is cheaper, vinyl will last longer. We are staying a while so decided to invest in vinyl.
How do I get the rails that go in the post ?
I'm sure they'll sell you just the rails.
Looks great. Thickness of wall ?
The panels are pretty thin only about 1.5"
Im confused. 6ft high panels right? Are the post 8ft? You dug deep so how to you get the depth you need yet still get the lower rail to the right height?
I can answer this for him, yes they come 8ft standard at all the big box stores. Also, I personally use a laminate, non ferrous metal blade for cutting. A wood blade is OK for a cut or two but if your needing it for more, 84 tooth blade made for pretty, no chip cuts for my 20 or so I had to.
Not taking anything away from guys video as it helped me a ton. Just adding my own tweet cents as to what helped me along.
What kind of cement are you using? I see yellow bag, but the label is not visible.
Thanks.
It was the sakrete high strength 60lb bags from HD
@@-DIYPRO- Thanks!
If u reverse the blade you will have no chips
Right on!
no metal post inside? :O
Just the gate posts get a metal insert.
Next time make a video on DIY vinyl on a steep slope..
Yep I lucked out and had a flat layout.
how do you cope with a lawn with a slope especially a serious slope
I had a little slope on the other side of my house. If big enough they can add double rails or taller slats. The biggest pain is cutting the bottoms to the correct angle. Can't give you enough info over a comment so I'd suggest finding a supplier and ask them. Most of them even have instructions on installation, which would include a slope, from the manufacturer.
Where did you purchase the actual fence?
Utah Fence Warehouse. They are not a chain or big box store. If you can find a local one off store in your area, they are usually the best price.
About how much in materials was this one section?
It's been a couple years but I want to say each 6ft section ended up being around $100
Do these vinyl fences last?
We had some bad experiences with vinyl gutters, etc. Eventually getting damaged by the sun, fading, getting brittle and cracking.
I've had by back section for 10+ years and it's slightly different shade then the new stuff but not even noticeable as you are passing by.
I wonder if it’s as easy as you make it seem lol
Try it out and let me know!
Great job.. question how much $ do you spend on this project?
It's not been a couple years but I want to say in total it was around $2,000.
I see this is about a year old. But I'd add at least one zero to that cost.....
I just last week added FOUR panels and posts to our existing fence. Not counting concrete, my cost was about $1200.00 just for that!
Same style and am in Minnesota.
Question. Is it possible to only put fence on the left and right side of the house to block out your side neighbors, but not put fence on the back since it’s just woods back there(there’s already a fence there but it’s like the before wood fence you had here, it’s not great)
Totally, you don't need it to be enclosed.
Who manufactured your vinyl fence?
Not sure, probably came over from China.
What brand of fence is that?
I picked it up from a local supplier and they don't say who the manufacture is. Probably so you go back to them and don't cut out the middle man.
Hey excellent video really helps, question where can buy all the material? Are you in California? Website may be can you reply please thanks
I just vinyl fence suppliers near me. I asked 3-4 for quotes and went with best price that had what I wanted.
This is huge project
@@-DIYPRO- Feel like sharing what supplier you used? I'm shopping along Wasatch front.
@@jeremygreer8362 Utah fence warehouse on main Street in layton
how much do you think was saved by doing it yourself?
Typical labor is about the same as material, maybe a little more. Material was 2-3,000 you'll be paying about that in labor.
how long did it take?
About 4-5 days total time and that is spaced over 4-6 weeks.
how long did it take to complete the job?
A day to dig, a day to pour, and a day to put up the slats.
I’m looking to buy one very similar from Ali baba for 70$ each shipped to my house is that cheaper then what you got it for ?
Is that each piece? Mine if I remember correctly was about $25/ ft.
@@-DIYPRO- Woow that’s cheap what compny I’m sorry to ask
@@zorro8693 it was a local supplier. Utah vinyl fence. This was a couple years ago so I'm assuming prices have gone up as well.
Where at im in Utah looking to do a vinyl fence @@-DIYPRO-
Where do you buy this fence from
I got mine from Utah Fence warehouse. Isn't a national chain so if you are not from around here you'll want search local fence companies.
Lowes have them
Ohh are you based in Utah?
lmao at the hope that prices would come down
Or who was your supplier? I don’t want to buy them from Home Depot.
Utah Fence Warehouse. They are a small local supplier.
Why do these have a gap on the bottom? My chihuahuas would sneak out through that
What the hell is going on.
First I'm going to say thanks for the video, it's nice to see the process n looks like you did a visually good job.
However
Do not mix concrete like that anyone following along. Do some concrete research maybe.
Also you did not use silicone on the top cap. That was clearly acrylic paint able caulking. Not to be used outdoors and not a glue product. Silicone or something like quad would work just fine however as you stated. But I can't believe you glued those on with that.
I really don't see them falling off easy but c'mon lol.
Thanks! I'm surprised it took that long to get a comment on the concrete! This last spring we had one of the biggest wind storms ever and all the posts and caps are still holding strong so I'm good with the way I did it.
no shame in how you did that cement. thats the way my dad taught me 35 years ago and its never failed me since
Good to hear!
Do you tell the city?
I'm in northern Utah
I tried to like the video but it wouldn't let me like it I did subscribe but I also wanted to like it but it wouldn't let me I'm sorry
I hope that's not a problem others are having! Thanks for the sub!
How much do you charge
Can u do mine ? Plsss for $500 lol
You bet!

Super low quality materials, gate will fall apart in less than a year.
What is, the vinyl, hinges, rails? This front section has been up for a year and my back section for 6 years. Short of a tree branch falling and breaking a panel I haven't had any issues.
@@-DIYPRO- i have that fence, holding strong 8 years in still shines as new
@@-DIYPRO- he don’t know what’s he’s talking about man. Opinions are like asses everyone has one.
Are these hurricane proof???
Hurricane, I'd say no. I've had guests up to about 75mph and it's been fine (wouldn't want to see higher than that)
pre mix the concrete man wtf u doing?
Not necessary for vinyl in my area with little wind.
