  • Bambam/Cassava bread is part of the culture of the indigenous people. The Caribs of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and other natives around the country make farine (the dried cooked grain) and cassava bread from the cassava. It is enjoyed by many and can be eaten with fish, avocado, cocoa tea, milk, and can be make as a cereal etc.

Thank you so much. It's one of my favorite as well and my grandfather is Carib. I was so happy to do it to represent the humble and sweet indigenous people of Sandy Bay.

I'm a Garifuna (Black Carib ) from Belize . I grew up enjoying Cassava bread while spending time at my grand mother. It is becoming a lost art among our young people here. Thanks for posting this recipe.

The new generation doesn't bother with these good healthy traditional foods. It is so sad because these are really some healthy food. There are so much ways you can eat this cassava bread. Thank you so much for appreciating it. God bless!

The water from the cassava is good for ironing. The starch is best for having your clothes well pressed

The cassava juices put in the fridge, when it becomes solid take it,and through away the balance. The solid part is starch.

Tapioca starch is sold by the pound, also you have tapioca products like noodles and pearls and so on. Clearly it's worth something! I've eaten dumplings made out of it that were transparent, strange bouncy pastries, and also a kind of pudding. It's great if you like rubbery food!
