- Exploring an abandoned house that was left with almost everything behind. It appears to have been abandoned since 2008, the date on the calendar, and the latest date I could find in the house. From what I was able to find out, the lady of the house had passed away in 1999, and her husband passed away in 1982. They had a son and a daughter who had families of their own. The phone number to the house was in the daughter's name, and the bills I found inside the house were in the son's name. I wasn't able to find out any information on the daughter, but the son has since moved with his family to a nearby city. He appeared to be a single dad until he vacated this house and met his wife later on. There are no photos of his wife in this house. His wife passed away in May of 2013 at only 56 years of age. It appeared to be a blended family where his deceased wife had a daughter before they met and he had a son. I was not able to find out who was last to vacate this house, why so many items were left, and why they no longer care about the house they obviously grew up in. Thanks for watching! :)

As someone who is cleaning out their father's estate, I think I kind of understand why people sometimes abandon houses like this. It's a lot of work and very overwhelming to sort then sell and donate everything. Then clean, repair, and sell the house too. All while living your own life.
It's also sad and sentimental because many of the objects have memories attached. Folding then donating my father's clothing was one of the saddest things I've ever had to do, because I remember him wearing most of them. A house is a home because of the memories within its walls. When a person dies, those memories still remain in those who were left behind. When we remember the person or tell stories about them to others, that helps them linger on just a little bit longer.
Urban Explorers like TikiTrex help us keep these memories alive too, so that an abandoned house can still be a home to someone.
It's even sadder if the remaining person passed and had no family or their family didn't even care about mementos.
How well you worded your post. I had a jacket of my dad's that I kept wrapped in dry cleaning plastic wrap. Sometimes, I'd take it out, try it on, and go through the pockets-- he kept business cards with random numbers on them and various notes to himself. I'd sniff the collar and catch the faded scent of him mixed with his aftershave. I'd visit that jacket like it was him from time to time until one day, when I went into the closet and it was gone. My mother had gotten rid of it. I should have moved it to my closet, but I just thought it would be safe where it was... not so.

That was a great one!Too bad they don't rehabilitate able bodied and skilled homeless and allow them to live in the house rent free for a year in exchange for services in addition to a small salary.
It would be a win,win for all involved. They could turn that into a shelter to rehabilitate and help them update their license and focus on helping them.After the year is up,the owner or the bank could sell the refurbished house.So many vacant buildings and so many homeless.It's

I often wonder what happened that everything had to be left behind with clothes still hanging in the closets seems to be maybe a death but who knows. There's evidence that there were kids there just makes you wonder where are these people are now. I love your explorations you take your time and talk your way through not like others that go through so fast it makes you dizzy swinging cameras back and forth you have no idea where your at or what your looking at. Can hardly wait for your next explore : )
***** I wonder the same thing. Makes me think either the whole family died at once or last surviving member of the family did, leaving no survivors to claim the contents and sell the property. Sad.

+RJL738 I wonder this too. I lived in the first house I owned for a very long time. When I eventually sold it and bought my next house I spent about two years grieving for the first; I was really homesick. I've only recently got over this. So I'm sure the people who leave these abandoned houses must think of them but are perhaps not in a position to return.
muskndusk No offense but the very fact that completely owning your own house, successfully selling it to completely own another house and potentially even selling that to completely own a third house is even an option for you means that you really don't have that many problems to worry about. Many people can't ever even own 1 house. I would love the problem of being homesick yet still completely own a home.

I am always very excited when I realize there are new uploads from you. Always so informative. It's just so hard to fathom that a life or lives can end up in a heap and in decay. Raises such curiosities of the life stories of the occupants. It also kicks up the urge to do my own exploring. So often I drive past old, empty houses and wish I could head in with my camera. Don't know how you do it, but it's truly inspirational!

Thanks for your adventures, Pam. Being an incorrigible packrat, it's amazing to me what people walk away from, which begs another question, "Why." One can only guess about the lives of the last occupants or speculate from observance, but you shine in finding some gems. Wandering and exploring the backroads is one of my favorite things and I do appreciate your explorations.

Well hello again Pam! Another great video, as they all are! I have to say I was absolutely amazed at not only the amount of items left behind, but also the fact that there were so many high dollar items still there after 7 years. While so many of us here on your channel agree that pilfering these items is wrong, there are many more who don't have that same level of moral conscience, and one would expect that the house would've been emptied of it's more expensive contents by now. I frankly find that remarkable! Be that as it may, I am glad that you were able to find your way safely out! I know I've said it before, but I thoroughly enjoy each and every one of your videos. You have such a sweet and friendly demeanor, and you do make it feel like we're right along with you! Thank you for sharing your adventures and please take care of yourself!

From all the items left and the way they were with all the boxes, bags etc., it kind of seems to me that since the person/persons who were maybe upset over loss or whatever and seeing so many things, just gave up and left. It is truly sad! Thank you again for a great video, as always. Haven't been on the computer much to view your awesome work and really enjoyed seeing it again.

Another excellent video! Just be aware that they used a LOT of asbestos in those old places. With the paint peeling and the wind blowing freely, the dust can be dangerous.

I just love your tours of these old houses----you do an excellent job of it too. I thought I was the only one that loved to explore old abandoned houses! Until I saw this site on U-tube---- I love it. These old houses could tell lots of stories of the past. Keep up the good work and do be careful.

The best part was experiencing a time-capsule of bygone entertainments. OH Man! That was a good one! I often wish there was just a little back story on some of these houses. I would love to know why a family would just walk out the front door one day and never return. Good find, and thank you for doing the foot work so that we can enjoy these places too.

It's very hard to understand the events that lead up to a home being so filled up with the stuff piled up and spread out all over the place, when it doesn't seem to be the work of vandals or something like that. Interesting.

Peter Jolliffe Could be in a fast move they didn't bother bagging and junking stuff, they just tossed about what they didn't want. Then you add vandals coming through picking through that.

Peter Jolliffe, The residents must have been hoarders who were forced to leave abruptly for some reason, Maybe they didn't pay their property taxes or mortgage and thus the state or the bank foreclosed on the property. There may have been a police raid on the house possibly because the owner partook in anti-government activities. We don't really know
Ever since I was a kid have been fascinated by going thru old abandoned houses.
The exerciser in question was called "Bull Worker". My husband had one in the 80s. Great explore! Love your research and information. Really enjoy your adventures Pam :)

Wow! My first thought was, "what if there had been a fire? who could get out?" The combination of Franklin Stove and SO much stuff is scary!
I am guessing the toaster, griddle could have been a 'frozen waffle warm up' - probably a collector's item.

Did you notice the walls in the bathroom and the adjoining room looks like wood flake board but finished with polyurethane or varnish? That's unusual. Great video Pam, thank you! John

It's crazy to think a family lived in that house not that long ago. I wonder what caused them to up and leave everything behind.

Always enjoy your videos. You narrate in a way that is informative without being intrusive. Odd that so much paint has peeled in there in the 7-8 years it's been empty- maybe a byproduct of moisture in the air? Lots of portable radiator heater boxes inside, so apparently the main source of heat wasn't very effective in the winter.
+mick m Thanks, Mick. The climate here around the Great Lakes in Southern Ontario can be quite extreme from cold winters to very hot humid summers. That can be quite harsh on these abandoned places causing rapid acceleration of the decaying process.
This was fun. I was thinking the mixed family thing as well. The strange thing to me was that they left items that were obviously valuable to them. A leather jacket, and the newspaper and teddybear sealed in plastic seemed to be collectables of some kind. Also, the was random stuff was in random rooms in the house was weird. I wish you would have looked to see what was under that sheet in the downstairs room near the door and read the writing on the door with the padlock upstairs. Thanks for taking us along on this, very enjoyable and well narrated.

Love your videos! I think places like this prove just how much we do not need all the "stuff" we collect and acquire. These people sure did like the color blue! 2008 makes sense....a lot of people lost their homes that year.

I would rather see my stuff become items in a garage sale than have it get thrown away. My grandparents had an attic full of neat old stuff and my uncle (without telling any of us) hired some guys to clear everything out and haul it to the dump. Antique furniture, old toys, handbuilt miniatures from the 1940's including a functioning swimming pool and a classroom with tiered levels and small desks, etc.
It's pretty amazing how a lot of of the stuff on the ground floor of that house was still entacked, because with all that junk just lying around abandoned you would think that a house like this would be a prime target for vandals and yet there are hardly any signs of vandals being their at all, so yeah it's amazing that this house wasn't completely ransacked despite being a mess.
I was even surprised that there was a Franklin stove in that house, because Franklin stoves were lousy mainly because thanks to the placement of the pipes the Franklin stove was unable to properly ventilate out the smoke and it's because of that those stoves more often than not produced more smoke than actual heat so yeah the Franklin stove was not very popular because Ben Franklin did not give them much thought when he first invented them.

Why are these places always so disheveled, if it was only abandoned in 2008? It looks like an apocalypse went through that place.

***** Kids and grand kids use them for storage of junk they don't want to clutter up their places with. Just gets tossed inside any old way. One of them comes back looking for something and ends up tearing it apart looking for whatever. Animals get inside, freak out and smash it up. Then vandals come along going through everything looking for loot.

It's interesting to know that even with minimal maintenance, if people still lived in it, it wouldn't have deteriorated so much.

12:00: Preservation, perhaps. Knowing me, if I did acquire that house, I'd listen through every cassette, CD and watch every video I could get my hands on lol. That would fully satiate my curiosity about such things.
