Exploring the back roads and trails of the NE Black Hills of South Dakota.

We visited the spectacular Black Hills in our State of South Dakota for over a week at the end of September into October and do some exploring of the vast Forest Service road and trail systems in our 2012 Jeep Wrangler. This is our first time doing this and we learned a lot. The Avenza app was great to locate where we could go with the Jeep. We did discover though that the Forest Service’s definition of a road versus a trail is sometimes backwards and found a lot of roads that we would have sworn was a trail. We were by ourselves and had to drive the Jeep home so we were reluctant to try the more difficult trails. We had a blast though and will definitely be venturing out to the western half of our state more often to enjoy the Black Hills National Forest. Check out the video to see what we did.
