Honestly, when ainz hugged that former member of the black scripture to death, it kinda made their introduction as threatening as a piece of cotton.
If Zanac hadn't died in the rebellion, it's likely that a small percentage of his people would have survived. but since zanac died of rebellion, ainz did not spare a single life and ordered not to spare any. those people don't deserve to have zanac as their king.
Well, he will not be their king anymore, i guess.

Ainz and Zanac's interaction with each other is like a surprisingly respectful meeting with the Grim Reaper.
Either the kingdom accept and die with dignity, or use treachery and any other foul deed to live with themselves.
The Nobles, got what they deserve with Neuronist, maybe not the rest like the civilians at the very least.
Yup, n Ainz got very pissed because of the nobles betrayed Zanac after their personal meeting, which Ainz is surprised to his resolve as a king to accept the fate n fought to death after one last try on sparring their kingdom.
Those nobles does not deserve him as their king, hence a suffering n agonizing death were given.

Not out of control but internally, what was left of his humanity which Zanac/Zanec brought out, that was his human self getting mad
In the dialogue between Zanac and Ainz(which I read somewhere, but that was before vol 14 was officially translated so technically this may not be official) Zanac asked if Ainz’s actions were not already sufficient in making his point.
Ainz retorts “I thought my demonstration on the Katze Plains was already sufficient in dissuading opposition, and yet a noble from your kingdom still challenged me.
“Perhaps if I accept your surrender it would grant some years of peace, but how many? A decade, maybe two, or possibly a century? However those that come later, those that did not experience firsthand my kingdom’s wrath, would grow bold and repeat history. I want to make a message that is plain for any fool to see. A reminder that will not fade into history and ensure that my children will be able to enjoy their peaceful bliss for many centuries to come.”
Zanac hearing that explanation found it hard to argue any further.
Even though this may not be in the official text(or at the least the English copy) when I read this scene it really added a lot to Ainz and Zanac’s discussion.

Honestly, for anime watchers, Ainz looks too darn lucky. But in the LN, he still is lucky but his intelligence and charisma is highlighted a lot more.

@@MiyashiruX I agree with you. I don’t even think he’s particularly arrogant or delusional in any way, he seemed pretty realistic and even down to Earth throughout the entire series. What I meant by “design” is solely how he was drawn and his demeanor.
Tbh he was my favorite human character in the entire series. I’ve always liked him… it’s a shame that very few will remember or acknowledge how incredible of a ruler/human being he was.

Actually knowing who his sister is does make this more understandable (though imo targeting Climb was still pretty unfair), but it's still not like he did nothing to make people think he was the typical arrogant fat royal.

Now Ainz sees that Zanac's people are undeserving of any mercy. They deserve a slow, painful, and agonizing Death. Ainz will retrieve the young King's body and give it a most respectful burial. He'll keep the armor.

And that includes their families, so also their wives and kids.
No Ainz said if they begged for death to kill them in the novel as well. So long as they were kept alive for a while before they were finally granted death.

The nobles in the kingdom have managed to enrage Ainz with their actions, even more than already with the idiot noble and his actions. At this point, Ainz sees no more value in the kingdom and nothing worth saving once Zanac was murdered by his own nobles. He'd even considered accepting Zanac's surrender after meeting him because he was so impressed by him but any chance for mercy went out the window when they got rid of the last thing worth saving. He already had his sister switch to his side so there is nothing left in the way of him turning everything to dust.
To give you an idea of how *hopelessly* boned the Kingdom is... the *horse* that Ainz rode on is called a "Soul Eater" and it is *by itself* strong enough to wipe out that entire army and has about an 80% chance (Even with Evileye's group *and* Brain) of killing *everyone* in the Capital of the Kingdom. It's literally that powerful.
Betrayers in Dante's Inferno got sent to the lowest level of Hell, seeing what Ainz is preparing for those nobles I imagine Dante raising his wine glass with a murnured "well played, sir". Ainz honored Zanac with that glass of water, remember he also gave water to Aura and Mare.
Pour one out for Zanac tonight bois, the last king of Re Estize deserves it.

I think the anime did it brilliantly .. in the novels we find out that Zanak cultivated a "fat loser" persona to fool his older brother and large parts of the noble faction who would have killed him, should they have found out he was actualy intelligent and capable and a better hair to the throne ... he only revieled his true self once his brother ... met Lupusregina ...
A minor takeaway from this episode, at the end when the nobles hand over Zanac's head to Ainz look at the way he was sitting when they arrived, and then look at how he sits back down. From presenting himself like a king to them, to suddenly not caring at all.
Ainz: I promise to give you a painless death
Nobles: *Kills Zanac painfully*
Ainz: You dare make me break my promise?
Fun fact : Ainz actually has a lot of respect for Zanac because according to Ainz Zanac is the true King, But if you see what Zanac said to himself, Zanac says that he is not suitable as a king.. Whereas in LightNovel Zanac is one of the people who gets respect from Ainz, To the point that Ainz wants to grant Zanac's last request, which is that Zanac wants a painless Death... But at the end of the episode we are shown Zanac being betrayed by his own subordinates, because of that Ainz immediately thinks that all the people in RE Estize Kingdom behave like that.. That's why Ainz suddenly sent Aura to kill them in the most despicable way, because according to Ainz there is no human in RE Estize kingdom who can be trusted except (Climb, princess of RE Estize kingdom, King of RE Estize Kingdom).. SPOILER : in Volume 15 / Volume 14 at the end of the chapter, we are shown that the princess from RE Estize Kingdom is a lover nat from the beginning, she used the children from the orphanage she created from the beginning to change her RAS from Human to Demon..

You are the first reactors I saw reacting to this who remembered who Neuronist was. Makes me so happy. Remembering gives this just way more of an impact. Also: Crunchyroll censored this in their subtitles. What he said in the novel was. "If they want to live that badly, make sure that they can never die" when sending them to Neuronist, also: This applies to them and all their family members.

It reminds me of The Secret History of the Mongols. Jamukha was a Mongol military and political leader and the chief rival to Temüjin (later Genghis Khan) in the unification of the Mongol tribes. They say in the LN, Ainz considered accepting the surrender of the kingdom because of his respect towards Zanac but the nobles really messed things up.
The nobles of kingdom are corrupt scums but if Zanac was appointed as the crown prince instead of his musclehead/spoiled/fool elder brother things would be different. Zanac can change his kingdom into a prosperous one with the help of Renner's extraordinary mind and Marquis Raeven's support but unfortunately King Rampossa didn't notice Zanac's potential much earlier.
It is too late because Renner, Zanac's sister, already joined as one of Albedo's subordinate. Marquis Raeven was forced to join the sorcerer kingdom.

really hope we get to see Mare in some action next episode since we have already skipped over him flattening cities during that first month of the war.

This mirrors Ains doing with the floor guardians. Making your people unsatisfied/unhappy might cause Ain's head to roll like the Prince (King) Zanac.
That guy from the is indeed Clementine's Brother, the murderer who got crushed by Ainz's hug.
Ainz was also rly pissed off with the Prince's death, as he actualy respected the boy who instead of running with his tail under his legs gathered the army to fight for his country and his people. Getting killed throught Treason by greed nobles and mercenerys made Ainz go back on his word of "giving them a peaceful death", Ainz will now destroy the entire army because there ain't no way the other soldiers dind't hear the comotion inside the prince's tent, in other words, everyone in that army betrayed the crown. And they shall suffer the wrath of Ainz Ooal Gown.

1. Ainz did not say he was going to kill THEM gently when he spoke with Zanac. He said "I will make sure to kill YOU as gently as possible". It was a kindness given to Zanac, in particular. The same kindness he showed Gazef, and a sign that he respects him.
2. Ainz did not say that he would spare them and their families. He said that he will not kill them.
3. He did not order them to not be killed to quickly after begging for death. He said "Even after they beg for death, make sure not to kill them for the time being". He did not give an ending to the torture, he basically said to torture them until he tells them to stop. Even if they bag for death, they will not die until Ainz gives the order.
Also those powered suits are actually trash to Ainz. They were added late in the game to help new/low level players catch up to higher level players, and these suits range from level 60-80.
However because of their function they cannot replace a character’s build, meaning a suit will always be inferior to a player of the same level. Which makes Ainz even more shock and confused to see one. If the user was a player than they’d have to be pretty weak to resort to such an item.
Which is why the user is not an Yggdrasil player, but he is a player(sorry that was a bad pun). Lakyus’s uncle is the pilot of that suit, which he received from someone that will be making an appearance soon, hopefully next episode.

This is why Ainz stated death is a mercy upon those who are foolish. Now those nobles who would have died probably a painless and quick death will suffer and beg. They will wish they were dead and welcome it with open doors.

Yes, this is after the Holy Kingdom Arc(which the movie will cover) and it kind of had to be this way. Since this war started because Phillip stole a Sorcerer Kingdom caravan carrying humanitarian supplies to the devastated Holy Kingdom.

Ainz is so angry, I think for the following reasons.
First, Ainz was disgusted and angry with the nobles' tactics.
The second point, I still remember that in the first season, when Ainz killed Clementine.
He said that he could be a very willful person, so when the nobles killed Zanac.
It meant that Ainz had no choice. Fulfilling the promise of a merciful death to Zanac makes Ainz very angry.
So much so that after sitting back on the throne, Ainz stopped acting at all, showing extreme impatience.

The anime doesn't explain it but the powersuit is not very strong, it was only useful for new players in Yggdrassil (starter pack) it's basically trash for Ainz.
In case you were wondering, that blonde guy was actually Clementine's brother, she was in fact a former member of the Black Scripture, but unlike her, he was loved by his parents. Also, in case you forgot, it was the Black Scripture that brainwashed Shalltear. At most they will be like lvl 50 on average.🤓

Ainz’s guild has three suits in storage, because while they were worthless to experienced players some of his guild members thought they were cool.
just keep this in mind Nazarick defeated 1500 "Players" attack with several guilds combined season 1 ep 1, without a single "player(supreme being)" from nazarick participating they where all waiting in the throne room as like a final boss, the 1500 didnt make it pass the 8th floor they never reached the room the npcs wiped them out.... literally the only thing ainz has to worry about is a hand full of world items that may not even be in this new world. 1 player or being isnt a fear, nor 1 guild its just world items really and knowledge about them
i think theres only 20 world items in yggdrassil and nazarick have 11 of them
they advance quickly from 1st floor to 8th floor without major sacrifice just to get completely annihilated in 8th floor, and after that most of the combined guild player complained to the game developer, they say that nazarick 8th floor was basically a cheat and there's no way for any player go beyond that floor

"almost doesnt count" ~Brandy lol, so what 1500 "players" is the point vs maybe finding 1 person that might not even be level 100..... 1500 maxed up ready to go players vs 1 is a far cry from help. also thats against a programed nazarick where the npcs had no free realm of combat or mind ergo like what ainz did in season 1 against shalltear, 1500 players spouting out buffs and debuffs before the fight didnt make it past floor 8, the author also said" if the 42 supreme beings invaded nazarick they would be victories and thats with rubedo", with the gear and the members power/intellect/builds alone, of course the gear they had was devine class gear/items and the world items the 42 could take out nazarick if they wanted to. which means ainz not momonga has anything he would need to use if he had to use against an army of players larger than 1500 players which goes without say 1 player here, and as we see with red drop gear can make a huge difference because that guy is no where near 2 death knights without it. case in point ainz needs only to worry about the threat of World Items really

Honestly don't blame the soldiers/nobles for killing Zanac giving the situation, since they were already aware of how ridiculously OP Ainz and his crew were by heresay and various other methods after the massacre at Re Estize plains. And knew that going against him and his army would be a death sentence. And those nobles hoped that by sacrificing at least one of their own, they and they're loved ones would be spared, with those loved ones being their wives and children. Basically, it was a last ditch move made out of fear and desperation of a hopeless situation brought upon them unfairly. Though I really blame Ainz, since committing genocide for something one man did ( with that man being Phillip) that was beyond the king's control is just silly. And the fact that he's now going to torture those men AND there families INCLUDING children is messed up. Especially, with the knowledge of knowing that if Ainz hadn't waged war on them, then Zanac would most likely still be alive at this point in the story. And now that he gave his subordinates the order to go all out, this will result now in more pain before death for the innocents involved with the kingdom during the this massacre. Overall, Ainz truly is a villain through and through and that's why I love him, since we don't get protagonist that are villain that often in issekai.

And not just that, they do not possess out of character knowledge, for all they know, as they speculated, Phillip could've just been manipulated to do that against his will, making him innocent. So a good hearted king WOULD not just give up an innocent guy.
And the worst thing is they wouldn't have accepted it anyways, the moment Phillip did what he did they were doomed, lol.
