Remember guys, we will have an Overlord movie coming next. To be exact, this is the third movie but it is CANON material. The first 2 movies are just compilation of ss1 and ss2. The movie adapts volumes 12 and 13 of the light novel, which take place between episode 7 and episode 8 of this season 4.
In the novel, Climb is quite confused when he sees Renner running while carrying a big sword without looking exhausted. It turned out that at that time she had already turned into a demon. This is further confirmed when Climb is called "the last human in this palace" before entering into the throne room. Inside is Renner who is still alive, but she is not considered a human anymore.
That's right we thought they didn't count her because she's already helping albedo and sorcerer kingdom.
I was thinking it didn't count anyone inside of the room, but I already suspected she used the box to be able to use the sword in the prior episode. She swung that thing harder than Gasef did.

It was her class, Genius, that makes Renner running without looking exhausted. Genius can be converted into any general job class. She usually converte a genius class into a princess class and acquired the behavior of royalty.
Then, using the laser edge as a trigger, she converted a genius class into a fighter class and immediately acquired swordsmanship and stamina on par with Climb. In the world of Overlord, cooking requires a Cook class, but Renner was able to convert her Genius class to create poisoned stew for the orphanage.

Climb will not be tortured. "Testing his allegiance" refers to making him do evil stuff to unlock the box with the Seed of The Fallen to turn into a demon. The princess was not tortured either, all she had to do to open her box was poison an orphanage.
And the movie will cover volumes 12 and 13, The Holy Kingdom arc. This season covered volumes 10, 11, and 14.

The author also thinks Princess Renner is best girl so he probably talked to the animators to animate that magnificent scene because that singing scene wasn't in the light novel. She is honestly an amazing character, to think that a creature like demi and albedo who treats humans as worms would acknowledge, help and support renner just goes to show how important she is.

Ulbert's ways are usually more evil and sadistic, keeping to his evil demon theme play style loyally, so he always clash with Touch Me, who is actually like a champion of justice. Touch Me is a police officer in real life, and thus his fixation on being a hero or champion of justice, and that is why the NPC he created being Sebas, is actually the least evil among the lot.

In the very 1st episode, Ainz said that one of the main requirement to join the guild is to be inhuman race. So yeah, Renner is the first new worlder to be fully accepted as part of Nazarick. To be valuable enough that Nazarick is willing to provide the race change item just to have you around.
I considered Nfriea and Enri as the first new worlder asset and member of Nazarick. Then there is Tsuare who fell as the denizen and a maid. There is also Nemu from being cute.

Minor spoilers:
While Renner is the only New Worlder that has been fully accepted as a part of Nazarick, the "you must be inhuman" only went for guild members, they only stuck to making the NPCs inhuman because it fit with the "evil" theme they were going for. There is actually a human NPC of Nazarick that was spoken about in the light novels and manga that was cut from the anime, that being "Aureole Omega." There's only about a handful of images of her you can find, but she's legit, she is the youngest of the Battle Maids and the leader of the "Pleiades 7 Sisters", she guards the real Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown while Ainz carries a mimic, she is also the one in charge of the Teleportation Gates used to traverse Nazarick without the use of a ring, during Nphirea, Nemu, and Enri's visit, Enri catches a glimpse of Aureole Omega while teleporting. Idk why she was cut tho, seems like a pretty interesting character.

In the light novel Phillip and Albedo's scene is waaaay more disturbing because after she gives him that gift she takes him by the ear drags him outside and shows that she had every single one of his friends, family, neighbors, everyone in his domain and impaled their bodies and heads on pikes showing true horror before dragging him to Nazarick and having him tortured to death.
Listening to Renner sing and laugh while hearing the kingdom crumbling around her outside was something else, it's kinda nice to finally see a yandere get her win.
One big thing to note about Ainz is that the entire world he comes from is ruled by global mega corporations and he was absolutely miserable in his life. He only found happiness through playing Yggdrasil, so that speech to Climb about being nothing and having no value hits different. He had absolutely no power in his world and now he has absolute power. Shit is terrifying
The scene with Albedo in the novel as well is A LOT more graphic. She drags him outside by his ear and his entire village is impaled from head to toe on spikes. Straight up Vlad the Impaler style.
The trolling they were doing with giving protagonist music and having one of those famous pre-powerup flashbacks for freaking Climb, was perfectly done.
I really like how Overlord gives spotlight to its side characters
it's kind of the key to "OP done right". When you have characters they are at the peak of their development and have no real struggle you focus on side characters to introduce emotions and drama, then when things are dire, you bring the op characters back in to make a big scene and reset.
One Punch man does this well and even in dragon ball or Bleach they'd often have goku or Ichigo out of the picture until the last minute to save the day.
Even the same thing in the 2nd and 3rd Matrix with Neo.
It's the best way to keep a story with op characters from making everything boring. . plus in Overlord, the op characters are not good people which makes it pretty unique.. technically we follow and cheer for the antagonists

Renner was never tortured by Nazarick. Albedo once described her as "A Human with the soul of a heteromorph" and she's as smart as Albedo and Demiurge. Ainz sees the value in her and one of the things that would keep her happy was to make Climb completely dependent on her. Also even with the ability boost score Climb only hit like level 20. He's pathetically weak.
When he's a human. Maybe being a demon will raise his level a bit. He'll probably still be weak, but he might surpass the limits of humanity at least.

besides, do you believe that Ainz would allow a servant of Nazarick to be weaker than a (regular) human? if needed, he will use whatever means required to ensure Climb becomes powerful enough to be worthy of serving the great tomb of Nazarick.

If I'm not mistaken when someone is revived they lose 5 levels. Climb according to the author was "capped by gold", if we assumed that gold rank adventurers are from about lvl 13-16 (and the author himself said that Climb wasn't level 15 on an answer on Twitter) we can assume that he was lvl 16 or maybe 17 on the later volumes (almost or enought to be Platinum rank adventurer and the LN also said that Climb using the ring would reach Mithril level (about lvl 20-22).
Someone of Mithril level is strong enought to best almost every undeads on Katse Plains, most of the avarage Demi Humans also.
Of course most of the characters shown are wayyy above mithr level,so with the ring I would put him above the Lizardmen and Neia Baraja (she will be show on the movie), stronguer than Nfirea, his grandmother and Enri. (But still weaker than Iguva, Khajit and other Mithril rank adventurers like the ones we saw invading Nazarick).
Losing 5 levels but gaining 1 level of Imp race level would make him need to improve 4 lvls to return to his normal strenght, but the main point is that is NOW don't have a max life span and is no longuer capped by humans limitations beign able to in decades able to surpass Gazef and Brain and if he passes the centuries he might be able to reach heroes levels like the Black scripture, Rigrit and Fluder
This episode was concentration of everything great in Overlord series, not even talking about whole Renner part, just opening sequence with Maru was creepy af. Totally loved this season

some additions:
1. Demiurge asked Ainz for permission to go somewhere in season 2 episode 10, and he went to meet Renner to discuss the plan to sacrifice the kingdom.
2. in season 2 episode 9, when claimb returned to renner's room, renner seemed to close the window. it was because he had just finished discussing with demiurge and demiurge came out of the window.
3. The poison that Albedo gave to Renner was put into the food she cooked for the orphanage children. So he sacrificed the orphanage children to speed up his process of turning into a demon, and Renner is an imp now.
4. Renner's transformation into a demon is shown when she suddenly can wield a razor edge sword, even though she was a weak princess before.
5. in season 2 episode 9 renner, zanac and raven discuss the attack on the 8 finger base. zanac at that time wondered why renner knew so many things when she was just sitting around in the castle. Of course the information that Renner had was obtained from the demiurge.
6. The timeline of season 2 episodes 9 and 10 more or less happened at the same time.
Renner deserves to be in Classroom of The Elite I think Renner & Ayanokoji will get along🤣

lmao if you felt good for the first few seasons, this season's ending just showed that Ainz IS the villain.
She became a demon by poisoning the children of that orphanage, and killing her father. So climb is going to have to do some very evil acts to become a demon as well. The cube will allow a human to become a demon, again, after preforming heinous acts.
Maybe in vol17 he will kill innocent people in Slane :))

Volume 17 is going to be lit and I bet a lot of characters that was shown in other volumes will make a cameo (Neia Baraja, Zaryusu Sasha, Climb, Pe Riyuro, Fluder, Enri's goblins and Nfirea and all the demi-humans/ dragons that were conquered on previous volumes...
I think he will test the forces of the Theocrracy with his citzens first or at least the ones he trust and have a level high enough... All this while still using his undeads and a bit of Nazarick own strenght (we know he don't like to use it). And then after realizing their capabilitys and overall strenght he will destroy Slane Teocracy completly
It's not in his character but Renner will get him to do it.

I wouldn't necessarily say Renner is in "love" with Climb. It's more of a possessive obsession she wants him as her loyal puppy that she can do whatever she wants with. What she feels for him is a lot like how Quinella in SAO Alicization explained her view of what love is.
Yo this Nazarick demons are such a scary villains man if you look at them from the side. Seeing this Albedo sitting with Renner on her knees is completely like sneak peak into villain's dialogue scenes from typical show.

I have read the light novel, and tho they did cut some things out, they really stuck with the novel so I am very happy about that. I remember when I started getting into the world of anime, and this was one of my firsts, since then it's been one of my all-time favorites. I read the light novel 2-3 times and watched the series 4-5 times, I even played the ero parody of it lmao. I can't praise it enough. We really need more villain protagonists.

about the seeds of the fallen: it is an item that can let you change races, but for one to change race, the person is required to do or fulfill several conditions.. but once you change, it is permanent and irreversible...the item's abilities allows players to switch their racial features to a demon. The only way for this item to activate requires the condition of a sacrifice in preparation.

I'm amaze on their grand web of a plan. But I'm more impressed on their intel gathering. And of course the restraint that every guardians are showing. They know they are powerful but they will proceeds the plan to the dot. They will kill unnecessary hurldes quickly and not play with it. It's amazing control and organize strategy that every moved has meaning and benefits.

So I watched this ep earlier but watching your reaction Stephanie said something that like opened my mind!? “Cocyutus’s frost maidens that let climb in the door called him the LAST HUMAN inside the castle. WHICH MEANS the princess was already a demon!! Like we all knew she was like demonic personality, but this whole time(or at least from the first time albedo gifted her that box thing) she was a demon. This explained why she could swing the sword so well too. At least I think so.🤯 my mind blown now😱gotta rewatch again see what else I missed.
Maybe you already figured this out since this comment is 2 months old, but what triggered Renner to be able to open the Seed of the fallen she got from Albedo was her doing the evil act of poisoning and killing all the children and staff of the orphanage when she cooked them food.
So she wasn't a demon all the time but she did manage to open it prior to the full invasion of the capital as had been requested, remember Albedo said to get it done before the invasion as she gave the box to Renner.

The item seed of thr fallen lets you change your race to an imp demon. But you need to complete a few tasks for it to work and activate. For example with Renner she poisoned all the children food she made and killed her father to activate it.

But basically around E-Rantel (the city Ainz first entered in season 1 and took over in season 3) there are the big ass Restize Kindom (the one that fell 8n this episode) to the West, a big forest and the Dwarf Mountains to the North, Nazarick and Carne village to the Northeast, and Katze Plains to the Southeast.
East of the Katze Plains lies a desert, and beyond that, the Bahamuth Empire (ruled by the Fate Gilgamesh look-alike Emperor). This Empire became a vassal of Ainz in the starting episodes of this season.
To the South of E-Rantel and Nazarick, there is a big stretch of land until you arrive to the Slaine Theocracy, the oldest human nation, created by the "Six Great Gods" and ruled over by Six Cardinals. Their secret black ops unit is the one that tried to brainwash Shalltear and half-succeded.
To the North of Restize Kindom, there is the Council State, a nation ruled by a council of dragons, and composed mostly of non-human people.
To the Southwest of Restize Kingdom there are lands inhabited by many non-human tribes and beyond it there is an enormous peninsula (think Turkey's shape) that goes into the Conytinental sea. This peninsula has become the land of a human kingdom - the Roble Holy Kingdom, and it is where the movie will take place. Its religion is similar to Theocracy, but they only follow 4 of the 6 gods. There are other countries elsewhere: the Minotaur nation (reformed by an ancient minotaur player in the past), the Draconic kingdom (ironically mostly humans with a royal family that has some dragon blood running in their veins and arteries), the Troll Empire, the Elf kingdom, etc. And even more in past: the fallen nation of Evileye, the massive empire of the Eight Greed Kings (past players), etc.

yeah probably, sad that they rushed through everything so much. I spent the last 3 months reading everything after season 3 of the anime and they just blast through 450 pages in 3 episodes. Feels like a waste to me
in a japanese videogame dev stream that is currently working with some overlord stuff they accidently said that was plans to make a movie trilogy (given the events of Vol 17/18 might be too short to summarize in a season), however there is no official confirmation from STUDIO MAD HOUSE. So for now it remains in speculation. Good move to either extend the hype for this anime much longer than a new season and possibly up the animation quality of the finale. Which I really hope even if it means waiting longer... given MAD HOUSE really shines in movies way harder than in TV shows.

Do you want to know how renner became a demon? It involves the seed albedo mentioned at the end, but that is not the only requirement. The seed makes your body demonized, but you first must demonize your heart and soul. If you remember, she thanked albedo for preparing poison, but we never see anyone poisoned in the episode. Are you curious why someone with her personality spent so much time at an orphanage?
Renner is a level 1 demon (imp), she's not even in her final form. She may end up being a succubus like albedo.

12:36 Technically Yes, but not through magic or a skill, in YGGDRASIL there are several race Change items that let’s a Player Change their races, like let’s them turn into a Demon, Angel, Undead, etc, during Renner’s partnership with Nazarick, they gave her a Fallen Seed, that let’s her Change her race from a Human into a Demon, it was inside the box that Albedo gave her, the box itself was implied to only open once the user fulfill the needed requirements, although it hasnt been confirmed, i think that one of those requirements either requires the user to betray people who trusts them or kill innocent life, since Renner implied that she poisoned the food she gave to the orphans and caretakers in her orphanage😣😭☠️
Mechanically the requirement for the seed of the fallen to activate is having a very negative karma value. Poisoning an entire orphanage was sure to put her deep in the negatives.

Climb had MANY of the characteristics of a hero, including: Courage, Honesty, Humility, Conviction, Determination, and Loyalty to his kingdom and it's people. And in practically ANY other Issekai, a character like Climb what be the main character of the story. And in ANY other story the fight with Ainz would have ended in Ainz defeat, since the way MANY of these stories tend to go, the character who plays the role of the villain USUALLY loses. Even if there is a difference in power, with the typical cliches of " the power of friendship", and "love conquers all" are used. However Overlord ISN'T like most stories where these things happen. And I think Ainz pointing that out to Climb during their fight was fantastic, since not only was it in character for him based on everything else he's done. But it also was a great way of the author of the series to poke fun at other authors for adding these overused cliches. And in the end, Climb lost everything, with his friends being brutally murdered, and his homeland reduced to rubble. His ONLY solace now is that he has Renner, which is more sad when you think about his love for her is based on a lie. His dark fate fits perfectly with Overlord though lol.
As much as I enjoyed this episode, I do have many problems with it. Like how this episode keeps up with the anime's tradition of cutting out content from the novels that are important, since it affects how the reader sees these characters. For instance, how Albedo indirectly threatens Renner that if she doesn't meet her expectations from now on the consequences would be dire not just for her, but for Climb as well. Reinforcing that their is a difference of status between the two, and that Albedo does NOT see her as an equal, just a useful pawn that she gets along with due to her intelligence, and evil nature. My next issue of cut content is some of the destruction of the kingdom that was caused by Mare, and I would have loved to see some of that slaughter that was in the book animated. Finally, I wish the scene between Albedo and Phillip was longer like it was in the book, since they were many more words exchanged between the two and it was quite funny, since Albedo LITERALLY drags him out of his safe place by his ear toward a different location to be tortured, with leaves the man so overwhelmed with fear he passes out, which suprises Albedo. The fact Phlllip got this reaction out of one of the most smartest and capable surbordinates in Nazarick was just soo funny to me, and I would have loved to have seen that animated. we also find out the fate of some of the supporters of Phillip, but alas all of this was cut out.
Overall, I'd rate this season a 7/10, since the anime cuts out too much content from the books for my liking, which is a problem for me, since it can change the audiences perception of the characters, and the anime still animates like crap most of the time. But I'll give it praise for showing more of the evil actions Ainz and crew commit more consistently throughout the season, unlike the previous seasons where a lot of evil things Nazarick does was cut out for the anime. Finally, I like the liberty they took with Renner, since the song and dance she performed was actually an anime original scene and that was a pretty excellent addition as well.

There is nothing wrong with having certain standards when it comes to anime, or any medium for that matter. Focusing on anime though, it typically runs at 24 frames per second. Meanwhile this show often times feeling like its running at HALF that speed. Additionally, there's the use of still shots, which isn't uncommon in anime per se, but it feels like it's used to a much higher degree here, then there's the horribly choreographed fights, and don't get me started on the god awful CGI, which is all ridiculous to me. Especially when I KNOW the studio can do better, since this is the same studio that had made shows like High School of the Dead , Black Lagoon and No Game No Life, which were shows of a MUCH higher production quality then what we see here.

The Overlord movie will be canon and is chronologically set up in S4 between episode 9 and 10. Basically the movie will play out before Ainz decided to destroy the Re-Estize Kingdom. The movie will show the events in the Holy Kingdom (which has been mistranslated by anime sub translators to theocracy).

So Renner as a villain is FASCINATING as a character study if you go into her backstory. Renner grew up as the 3rd child princess of the kingdom, a position with essentially No Power or Standing in the grand scheme. She was highly intelligent and talented but sadly being female royalty in medieval society meant AT BEST she could either betray her brothers to get to the throne to have it taken by marrying a noble one day OR she would be married off to continue the royal line in another nation. Renner TRIED to help her Kingdom by publicly appearing kind, doing charity work, helping reform the kingdom and abolishing slavery. Which in a male power society amounts to doing the dishes. Most of her plans were also stamped out by Greedy nobles who didn't care about making the kingdom a better place. So when Demiurge approached her and told her how much Nazarik would value her talents, she was immediately enticed and became the foundation for her Kingdom's fall. So which would you choose? A dying kingdom falling to corruption and short sight that doesn't value your talents because you have a vagina? Or would you serve a nation that gives you everything you ever wanted and values your talents giving you the praise you deserve? For Renner all it cost was her Kingdom and her reward was a place for her and Climb in the Tomb of Nazarik.
So now that renner is a disney princess. Will we ever see her in future kingdom heart game?
