The Canadian IMP does have a heating element, they’re issued separately. It works Similar to the American MRE heater

I love these videos. I remember my freshman year in college 1996, I traded cup of Ramen soups for a National Guard members MREs. It was a lot better than the soup.

i mean, MREs are made to be eaten in the field (aka in the middle of bumblefuck nowhere) in a survival situation and have a really long shelf-life, so presentation certainly isn't one of their concerns here
Yeah the Canadian MRE looks pretty sad compared to some of the other countries I've seen. I've seen freeze dried meals that look better than this.
