This is awesome.... This is my first time making red cabbage and I did it this way for half head cabbage and I also boiled the other half for 10 minutes with a dash of white vinegar and dash sea salt and drained (boiled red cabbage loses less nutrients).... I then combined both cooked ways and its amazing!! Thank you
Lady, you are the freaking bomb! Cooked a nice dinner for me and my mom. Cube steak, quinoa rice and purple cabbage when sweet rays BBQ sauce. I used butter to cook the cabbage instead of olive oil and it still came out great! Thanks luv!
My husband brought home a purple cabbage last night and said, I thought you could make something out of this. I was clueless and said, yea... Sure. So anyway... This is perfect! Thanks! I'll be making it with baked chicken later!
This is so good! I love adding just a splash of raw apple cider vinegar to mine at the very end. May sound a bit strange, but it's so delicious; really brings out the taste!
Thank you thank you thank you .. it was so easy to prepare .. and so delicious to eat. fine presentation on your part. i left my computer on while i went to cook .. then after supper returned to find your smiling face still finishing off the recipe. wow. this is great.
OMG! I went in search of a simple recipe... This one is the best! You're right about the a little "bite" to it is better. I added some sliced mild peppers and white onion with a sprinkle of garlic salt. Delicious...
Try it with a hint of lime and a little salt. Not to much, I add hotsauce to mine a mexican thing I came up with and it's real good, not everyone has the right tasting tools for it, but it tastes excellent, cabbage is my absolute favorite snack to munch on. (:
YOOOOOOOOO! Thanks for this recipe! I got a head of red cabbage thats been in the fridge for 1 week. I looked in there and was like, "crap i gotta use this!". So i saw your video, and followed the steps (with some garlic and onion too). These were sooooo damn good with my pork chops and sweet & sour bell peppers. Thanks a bill!
wow a video from 2009 and it was first on my recommendation list as this is the first time i will be cooking a cabbage esp purple one , we cook only green / white cabbage, i will be making this in Dec 2020 in Indian style so will add mustard seeds, green chillies and some garam masala (spices) to make it a spicy dish, the oil quantity remains same in both our recipes. Cheers
Thanks! I've been skin and bones my whole life, but suddenly at 43, I've found myself with a nasty spare tire...it's gotta go so I'm changing my eating (and drinking) habits! I love a "bite" to all my veggies!! Just seems to have more flavor and texture ;) I just made this the "German" way, but added olive oil and cashews...wish I had seen this vid first. Next time, though (and will use sunflower seeds instead of cashews, too). Now I need a good recipe for Kale...I've never had it, heard it's bitter, so do you have a recipe for that?
Charlotte Prescott-Ruland 2 years late but I have the best kale recipe! czcams.com/video/hqyQDYk4xI0/video.html I use Newman’s Own Sesame Ginger dressing to season it.
Well now, That did look great and I'll trying that with my Purple cabbage. Maybe I should just be her friend and stop by for dinner all the time ;) I NEED A WIFE!!! LOL
I love cabbage but it looked like about a quarter cup of oil in there! It is easy to do this with mostly water instead but it won't taste as "rich" obviously.
I love the minimal simplicity of your recipe (I didn't know it would be good with such little salt). Just to return the favor, purely for healthy eating reasons, you should be careful of cooking olive oil on medium to high heat, because it changes its molecular structure and the way it is metabolized in the body (not in a good way). Instead, cook it in raw coconut oil, and then after cooking is complete (or almost complete) splash it with your olive oil (you won't lose any taste). Also, splash it with fresh squeezed lemon juice, will help protect you from getting kidney stones. ;)
Ditto on the avocado oil for high heat. New studies show Coconut Oil is a HUGE NO for ingesting! All the hype about the benefits are just marketing, evidently.
Im sorry, but thats too much oil to be "healthy". Additionally olive oil cooked like that can be poisonous, should be substituted for avacado or grapeseed when heating oil.
I just sauteed my purple cabbage with onions and garlic. I finished it off with two over easy eggs on top. Incredible
i bought cabbage trying to be healthy and didn't know what i would do with all of it. this works soooo good and taste really good too!!!
Ashley Magana I’m trying it today

I NEED A WIFE!!! LOL
That's the way to cook cabbage! I would add onions and garlic.
My Mother NEVER cooked cabbage with "ham hocks!".
L D. I like to also add potatoe slices
Oh, my mama did. She didn't do it all of the time, but it was a yummy treat. We mostly do it this way though, sometimes with red onion added.
My mother added a couple of slices of bacon, and so do I. Lol
How many cabbages did you cook?
Thank You!Your smile is very beautiful
Monica: getting ready to cook some right now to go with my skinless chicken breast a hot water cornbread patties, girl u crazy.😂😎💯
Thankyou
I love cabbage but it looked like about a quarter cup of oil in there! It is easy to do this with mostly water instead but it won't taste as "rich" obviously.
Super
How many calories are in there
can you freeze it after you have cooked it?
A Woman Of The Most High properly, yes!
Cheap too. Thanks a lot
Is that really it? You just fry purple cabbage in olive oil and add some sea salt? I can't wait to try this.
She said “not like cabbage that your mom cooked down” why’d she have to roast someone’s mom like that.
😂😂😂😂😂
I love all types of vegetables but doesn't cabbage give you gas?
Haha!
Soham
John Legend who?
NICE VIDEO...AND YOU'RE CUTE... =)
Ok cutie

+bonanzatime - thanks for posting this, so many people have no idea.
You can also use avocado oil, as it also has a high heat threshold.
Ditto on the avocado oil for high heat. New studies show Coconut Oil is a HUGE NO for ingesting! All the hype about the benefits are just marketing, evidently.
coconut does the same thing as olive...Grapeseed oil doesnt.
Red cabbage 😕my bad, I have OCD🤷🏾♀️
Dsng dstz alot of oil
X
The cabbage is almost as hot as she is.
This is so confusing please make your videos on how to cook a dish simpler this one is very complex.
The only thing I didn't like was the snippy comment about ham hocks. It was an unnecessary micro aggressions.
Im sorry, but thats too much oil to be "healthy". Additionally olive oil cooked like that can be poisonous, should be substituted for avacado or grapeseed when heating oil.
I ate by my grandaunt, two plates red cabbage. One houer later I sat for 15 minutes on her toilet. 😨😨😨 Was that from the cabbage ???
DO NOT FRY ANYTHING IN OLIVE OIL .....DO some research .....
What the fuck? It’s just fried cabbage? Stick to the chicken love.
