This is awesome.... This is my first time making red cabbage and I did it this way for half head cabbage and I also boiled the other half for 10 minutes with a dash of white vinegar and dash sea salt and drained (boiled red cabbage loses less nutrients).... I then combined both cooked ways and its amazing!! Thank you

wow a video from 2009 and it was first on my recommendation list as this is the first time i will be cooking a cabbage esp purple one , we cook only green / white cabbage, i will be making this in Dec 2020 in Indian style so will add mustard seeds, green chillies and some garam masala (spices) to make it a spicy dish, the oil quantity remains same in both our recipes. Cheers

Thanks! I've been skin and bones my whole life, but suddenly at 43, I've found myself with a nasty spare tire...it's gotta go so I'm changing my eating (and drinking) habits!
I love a "bite" to all my veggies!! Just seems to have more flavor and texture ;) I just made this the "German" way, but added olive oil and cashews...wish I had seen this vid first. Next time, though (and will use sunflower seeds instead of cashews, too).
Now I need a good recipe for Kale...I've never had it, heard it's bitter, so do you have a recipe for that?

I love the minimal simplicity of your recipe (I didn't know it would be good with such little salt). Just to return the favor, purely for healthy eating reasons, you should be careful of cooking olive oil on medium to high heat, because it changes its molecular structure and the way it is metabolized in the body (not in a good way). Instead, cook it in raw coconut oil, and then after cooking is complete (or almost complete) splash it with your olive oil (you won't lose any taste). Also, splash it with fresh squeezed lemon juice, will help protect you from getting kidney stones. ;)

You can also use avocado oil, as it also has a high heat threshold.
