"Thank you for the music" (1977)
    has many interesting details
There is an interview to Björn & Benny at 1976 Christmas time,
there the reporter asks Them if have a preview of a song,
and there both play the melody (without lyrics)
of the future "Thank you for the music"
    "Thank you for the music"
is the first song of the mini musical
"The Girl with the Golden Hair"
that ABBA performed on their 1977 Europe & Australia Tour
    the mini musical includes:
    Thank you for the music
    I wonder (departure)
    I'm a marionette
    Get on the carrusel
(the last song is the only that wasn't released in ABBA The Album)
    "Thank you for the music"
is at the end of "ABBA The Movie" (1977)
and shows ABBA in their homeland Sweden again
    "Thank you for the music"
it's a very special song for the blonde singer Agnetha
She just came back with ABBA from Australia,
shortly after She got pregnant with her second child
When it was time to record it,
She was in advanced stage of pregnancy,
and to sing it She had to do it in a more forced position
When you see her in each presentation,
Agnetha's face seems to transform with joy when interpreting "Thank you for the music":
her gestures, her looks and her pouting are unmissable
    "Thank you for the music"
was used as the last number of ABBA to a lot of TV presentation
It's like an ABBA hymn and classic
wasn't a single until 1983, after ABBA breakup
After the success of "Chiquitita" (1979) in Spanish-speaking countries,
ABBA also recorded it in Spanish and it was a great success in my country Argentina.
And the ABBA album in Spanish language was called just like that
"Gracias por la música" (Thank you for the music)
    In my personal opinion
    "Thank you for the music"
is in my top 10 of all ABBA songs, for good lyrics, beautiful melody
and greatest interpretation by a carismatic Agnetha
and in my Top5 of all Agnetha as lead voice in ABBA
and it is the last live performance of ABBA,
in that section sung almost 'a cappella' at the end of the last interview of ABBA in 1982
I wish you a great weekend
    My best regards from
    Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷
    South America

a separate comment, to help you understand the context
here we are exactly in the middle of ABBA's career (1972/1982)
They were returning from their successful tour of Australia and in addition to recording their fifth album, they were filming scenes for a movie that would reflect their tour
      as I said before
ABBA prepared a mini musical of four songs,
"The girl with the Golden hair"
that Agnetha and Frida performed dressed alike, with blonde wigs, because they both reflected the same character
A young woman who has the gift of singing, and to succeed, she distances herself from her town and her affections, and will finally be trapped by the routine and pressure of the commercial industry.
ABBA develops that little story in four songs
"Thank you for the music" is the first and is led by Agnetha
"I wonder (departure)" is the second and is performed by Frida
"I'm a marionette" is the third and is shared by Frida and Agnetha
"Get on (the carusel) is the last one and is sung by the choir, with Agnetha and Frida in the isolated verses
ABBA is more famous for its breakup songs with upbeat melodies, it is their trademark in singles like
      S.O.S.
      Knowing me knowing you
      The winner takes it all
      One of us
      and other songs like
      My love my life
When all is said and done
but ABBA also has its other wonderful classic songs and worldwide hits like
      Waterloo
      Mamma Mia
      Fernando
      Dancing Queen
      Money money money
      The name of the game
      Take a chance on me
      Chiquitita
      Does your mother know
      Voulez Vous
      Gimme gimme gimme
      I have a dream
      Super trouper
Lay all your love on me
and their comeback songs in 2021 are fantastic
I still have faith in you
      Don't shut me down
I hope that You do more ABBA reactions, the catalog is of the highest quality and very versatile in styles, although its essence is pop music

You are not chronologically correct about Thank you for the music. The song has already been written before their Australian tour of 77. It was also performed there in the concerts, with a slightly different melody and below abba standard lyrics but the concert version was cut out of ABBA the Movie and replaced with the studio version which has been improved upon before the release of the film and that is version which Aggie heavily pregnant at the time had to record sitting in a supine position.
Thank you for the music is one of the hardest songs to sing or cover by any other female singers. From Dionne Warwick to Karen Carpenter versions, Agnetha's version earned my respect as a vocal genius on this song.

They make perfect sense, not sure why anyone would think they didn't.
On a more philosophical note where does the concept of music come from and why does it elicit the same emotions in us even when hear a piece of music for the first time?
It is like a shared human language spoken only our deepest subconscious.
And don't even get me started on the nature of consciousness and concept of free will in a causal Universe!

I think the idea was to ask who invented music, which of course is a question without an answer. But you can be thankful for it nonetheless, no? Don't Over Analyse the Lyrics - Please! In the Second verse Agnetha just asks a Rethorical Question, asked in Awe over How Life can find it's Own sometimes Umexpected and even Strange Ways. It's just a Happy Outburst over the Gift of Life and it's "Presents".
Also - ABBA had to compete with The Punk music from 1976-80, Punk was VERY Big in Sweden - I myself started the first Punk Group in my hometowm 1977 and the Mantra among Punk and Rock Musicians was: Hate ABBA! They play Terrible Music, They Just want To Rip Money from You with Their Stupid and "Commercial" tricks!
I woke upp 1991, Really LISTENING to my first ABBA CD ever, on my new CD player with good Earphones and I was slowly but Surely Gobsmacked by their Songs Beautiful Soundscape and Heart Touching Lyrics. The song that really Gripped My Heart was "One of Us". I cried deep and long while the CD Player was put on Repeat 9 or 10 times ... ( I was trying to mend a Broken Heart ... )
