also do you own the spaghetti incident vinyl? would be cool if you made a video about it cuz everywhere i go it seems to be bootlegged and not the original album
I used to own an original pressing but I honestly didn't listen to it enough so I sold it off years ago.
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast yea i get it. i only like a couple of songs on the album but i just want the record to collect even if i wont listen.
I think Lauren should keep saying Toto as many times as possible and talking about Toto, I thought Toto XIV was such an impressive album that was released in 2015, not a single song that is a filler in my opinion!
Maybe we can get Lauren to go back and do a Hidden Gems video for Toto or a 5 Songs To Start With video for them

Everyone says the modern term, "Hype Sticker." I know they weren't called that back in the 1960's. Does anyone remember what they called? Promotional sticker?
Your guess is probably right. Probably just "promotional sticker" or maybe even "shelf talker"
My top 5 would be as follows:- Asia - Asia Roxy Music - Avalon ABC - Lexicon of Love Kate Bush - The Dreaming Dire Straits - Love over Gold
Great picks. I need to go back and revisit thy Dire Straits album, it's been too long.
Telegraph Road is a great song and saw Dire Straits during the Love Over Gold tour and that song live sticks on my head particularly! I think ABC’s album Lexicon of Love has been recognised as such a great album over the years and Martin Fry eventually did Lexicon of Love II, which I have also bought, but still not as strong as the first album, Have been a big Kate Bush fan since her first album and The Dreaming is probably her most adventurous album, although Hounds of Love is probably her best, because of the hits! Avalon by Roxy Music has such a cool calming atmosphere throughout and if you do not own this album, then I would suggest buying it, as it has that relaxing sound throughout that would be great for dinner making listening. I believe Roxy Music were never as popular in the USA as in the U.K. and and believe they rejected the opportunity to sing the song ‘Don’t you forget about me’, which then became a big hit for Simple Minds. As for Asia, well been a fan of all the members from their previous bands and remember them forming this super group, as they are labelled, for Asia. I think the second album by then, is almost as good as the first one, but maybe lost some of the diversity, as it the songs were written just by Wetton and Downes, who had the written the hits on the first album! I think this is why Steve Howe left after the second album and then eventually Wetton left etc. but I certainly bought the first three albums and then some of the more recent ones, when the original line up reformed; before Wetton’s death.
Have to say, that Human League - Dare should have maybe be included in my list, but the five I have picked are more personal and I basically just enjoyed the Human League album a lot and still do.
Toto is also awesome. My favorite is Africa.
Asia one of my favorites. Awesome super group. Saw them live.
I can tell this song gob smacked both of you
Yes, absolutely
thankk you so much man. im also looking for the gnr lies and spaghetti incident vinyls which seem to be rarer than chinese democracy. let me know if you can help me find it
your best bet is going to be buying copies off of the Discogs site.
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast alright man thanks. im new to record collecting and ive only bought them from local stores. do discogs sellers scam a lot or is it mostly a safe bet to buy from there
@killerdude2055 I've bought many records off of Discogs and I only buy from sellers with great feedback. So just make sure to look at the sellers profile before committing to buy anything.

Following up (thanks Wikipedia) Regarding the album's themes, Joel has stated "It was during the Reagan years, and the diminishing horizons in America at the time [meant that] all of a sudden you weren't going to be able to inherit [the kind of life] your old man had." This pessimism about the American dream, in Joel's view, permeates most of the songs on the album. Joel also said that the theme of the album was "an American dilemma, specifically of people born after World War II." He said that although he doesn't provide solutions to the dilemma, he "hope[d] the record speaks like someone in that age group, if only just to tie us all together as people, as an entity." While America is not the "iron" curtain, there is still a barrier here, there are obstacles to our dreams and desires, both as individuals and as a broader society.
Putting in the work long after a video was shot. Well done!
Love Queen/Freddie Mercury! Play the Game is a great song! This version and Live from Montreal version are great examples of Freddie’s talent and genius.

Believe it or not, so did Russ LOL. He was really glad Lauren included it on the list!
hi amazing video please review Justin timberlake new album please
We haven't listened to it yet but if we do, we will be sure to post a review :)
MJ’s impact on the world is bigger than any person who has ever lived outside of Jesus. I don’t think that it’s even close. I was looking at his stats and it shows that he has amassed over 8.5 billion views on TV alone. That is insane. When the world can recite your words via his music, that is saying something.
Totally agree with you.
I got a copy of Balance on vinyl for $75 on eBay around 2013. That was an absolute steal, considering how much it usually goes for. It’s opened but still in the original shrink wrap.
That's a fantastic, congrats on getting that deal!
When he visited Bucharest the whole place shut down for the 3 days he was there. They counted down to his arrival. Let's not forget. There were *thousands* outside this venue too. The music you could hear from miles away (according to people that went- as MJ loved his music loud). You couldnt get anywhere for miles around this venue. People forget that MJ was greeted like an emperor in every country he went. This hysteria happened outside his hotel too or when he was out shopping. You really had to be there. His fame and appeal impact was 10x the current acts it was *INSANE*
He was truly one of a kind. The world will never know anything close to his talent ever again.
Those Vocals are insane
I know, right?!
I really Like this quite a bit. I'm going to check check out their other stuff right now... Thanks for the video. You guys Rock.

Yay! Vangelis getting some love. It’s been two years since he left us (May 17, 2022). HUGE fan. I may have more of his work in my collection than any other artist. First heard him with the theme from Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos”, but I didn’t immediately know who it was. Yes’ Jon Anderson collaborated with Vangelis on four albums, their big hit was “I’ll Find My Way Home” (1983). “State of Independence” was a J&V track made into a hit by Donna Summer. Speaking of 1982, that was the year of “Blade Runner,” for which Vangelis did the score. He created something like four hours of music for the film, a lot of it unreleased (the official soundtrack didn’t come out for another ten years). Probably the biggest bootleg ever, multiple variations available online. Still the benchmark for sci-fi themes. Being from Australia, the biggest song for me in 1982 would be “Down Under” by Men At Work, sat in the US charts for a while in ‘82 before making it to #1 in January 1983.
We figured you'd like Vangelis being included in this list :)
Enjoyed your list of five songs! Have seen Steve Howe live numerous times, with Yes and ABWH (Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe) and would have stuck with Heat of the Moment, especially as it mentions the year 82 in the lyrics 🙂 Also the Joe Jackson song is great and for the Vangelis instrumental is certainly an iconic tune and I have seen the film several times too. I like Vangelis music with Jon Anderson as well and you might want to check out his work in a Greek Progressive Rock band called Aphrodites Child and especially the album 666 which is based on the book of revelations! I think I would definitely have Asia in my top 5, but as you mentioned Asia already and it basically included Heat of the Moment and Only Time Will Tell, then I will mention these give:- The Jam - Beat Surrender Tears for Fears - Mad World The Stranglers - Golden Brown Japan - Ghosts Ktaftwerk - The Model Honourable mentions to songs that dominated the charts, certainly in the U.K. Toni Basil - Mickey Dexy’s Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen Madness - Our House Duran Duran - Rio Roxy Music - Avalon
Thanks for those great lists. Those are songs we will listen to again today, so thank you. Also, great point about "....and now you find yourself in 82" being in Heat of the Moment. You're right, I should've just included that one.
SOTT album is cohesive because of the thematic sonic soundscape and recording studio. Thematic in it's mostly DX7 with the Fairlight, Linn LM-1, as a most obvious list of instrumentation that overall makes the album sound cohesive, from the same era. That changed in the next album, Lovesexy. Totally new recording studio, new sequencing, crisp fresh soundscape. SOTT song individually sound different because they're culled from different projects that lead up to the final SOTT album. From the cancelled Dream Factory album, to the Camille, 'it's June' long lost cousin planned but cancelled surprise album to the Camille Cystal Ball album which was 3 if not more record set. When he compromised to WB Records to cut down due to low sales and success of the previous Parade album (one of the reasons why he fired most of The Revolution) songs sound individual. And that's something Prince noted himself, his admiration for Led Zeppelin because of how each song, each album sounded different. Prince was inspired by all the music he grew up with. Since way back in the early 90s I concluded, llke an epiphany, that Prince is the 'baby that rock n roll' gave birth to. The last great true rock star.
Thanks for sharing all of that information about a Sign O The Times! There's so much about Prince for fans to keep learning.
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast yes you’re welcome! If you don’t mind, I’d like to tell you that sign of the times is really part of an opus that arcs from this album and those unreleased records in the black album and then into the other side with lovesexy. At the time, nobody really knew it was just another great prince record in a prince style, but there is a contrast and certainly you could listen to the album by itself, but it’s really more interesting when you see the other side. And the recording studios may have something to do with that and the contrast of where he was making the work environment and where he established a much nicer environment, more positive environment. And there’s more to this it’s really really interesting. Prince was intuitive. He may have just been following his artistic intuition. He probably didn’t know or maybe he did it in someway but it’s a story of dark and light. Anyways, I’m glad more fans are still discussing the album, covering it and maybe you’ll discover something on your own or something I’ve never even thought of it happens and it’s always fun!

@@InfectiousGroovePodcast I’m going to write a letter to Sony Music to release History Continues and Invincible on black vinyl. I think Michael Jackson’s music deserves better.
@benjaminlazaro344 we totally agree.
Let's remember who MJ really was. Back then. Not easy to put into a box, to keep it short. And never apologizing for it, just being true to who they were, staying kind, caring, humble and welcoming at the same time as killing it in their field and being quite straight forward in their cultural expression. Like this tour? Remember the outrage created, really kicking off the US cultural war, with the Black Panther dance ending the not so subtle song Black or White. Getting that part of the film basically banned in the US and through that in most of the world. So, back to the tour - how does MJ attack the scene, in a militant styled jacket and glasses and a very "Do-not-mess-with-me-or-I'll-eat-you-up kind of decisive manner; stylized as a super hero? Yup, to the rawr of a black panther. For every show, in every city, of the tour. World wide.
I hope you watched to the end for the part where my son and I talked about how great Michael was and is. Leaving comments is great, but I hope you're enjoying the actual love for Michael Jackson we're showing in this video.
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast Oh, I always watch your stuff to the end. It was on that very note I commented. Sorry if it wasn't obvious! 🌻
@elsaanderson1176 OK awesome. There's a lot of MJ accounts that just copy & paste comments without actually watching. Our goal is that people really understand how much we really love and support Michael :)
@@InfectiousGroovePodcastReally? Ok, that's not me - every comment takes me like ages to write. No, I just commented with my thoughts on your reaction and my reaction to MJ, as you asked. On our shared love and respect for this amazing person and artist and what they created, both as art pieces and in us - the world.
@elsaanderson1176 thank you so much for that and I am so sorry I doubted you in my original reply! :)
Those Wembley concerts were the best concerts i have seen in my whole life. I think this is his absolute peak. The energy there was electric. During soundcheck i talked to members of his staff. They told me that he is pretty nervous because of Lady Diana. I think he put 20% more energy into his performance to impress her. There is something special about these eighties musicians like Michael or Freddie which i really miss in modern concerts so much. What a night. I will never forget this special evening.
I got to see Michael on the Bad Tour in the US but what I wouldn't give to have been at the Wembley shows!
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast At least you have seen him during BAD. :) I am so sad that they demolished the old Wembley. It had a special aura. Later i attended Dangerous and History tour as privat person but it wasn't the same. I need the live singing and both tours lack the energy of BAD. But at least he sung behind the playback track.

Love not only the reaction but the chat and messages at the end❤
Very glad you enjoyed all of that. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment :)
I'm so jealous of anyone who was able to see him during this era. This is Elvis at his best. Great song and great performance.
Oh, I am the same way. What I wouldn't give to go back in time and see Elvis in person during this era!
I always say The Winner Takes it All by ABBA is one of the saddest songs ever. I know they always say it isn't literally about their divorce but Benny wrote it for Agnetha to sing while they were getting divorced and they recorded it right after their divorce was finalized.
My favorite Regina Spektor songs are Eet and The calculation! The Calculation is Regina having a lot of fun, it's a good time. Eet is just Regina at her best!

He was a phenomenon. In some parts of the world he was received like a high dignitary, not like a ,, pop,, megastar. And an MJ show was a must for anyone, no matter your musical taste. The energy is alive even in the oldest footages with him, what a brilliant comet!
