  • Tzniut (some people think this just means modesty but I very much disagree.) can be kind of a touchy and sensitive subject for some. In this video, I try to unpack this mitzvah and give my own perspective.

You hit all the points though. I hate how people have made modesty to be seen as something that is gross and that we need to cover up so men can control themselves better. Ugh makes me so annoyed, I am not doing this for men, I am doing it for myself.

@@hannahsimone7373 I feel the pressure though. I am struggling with covering my collarbones, as I really don't see the point. (I am curvy, so it's very hard to tell I got them lol) Everything else I have no problem with, tho and found it quite easy to adapt to it.

I loved your approach. I am researching this subject right now and adore it from a perspective of love, self care and appreciation. Certainly nothing to do with men unable to control themselves! This belief is so disrespectful to men too.

I'm so glad! so much of what I have watched about modesty on youtube is so not empowering and frankly just gross

I'm Catholic and am extremely passionate about dressing in a way that is elevating & dignified. I basically follow Jewish guidelines (collarbone, elbows, knees) with thick material and skirts only. It's been a few years and I have grown spiritually so much. I have two daughters and encourage them to do the same.

I love the conceptualization of tznuit as "holiness, dignity, privacy." This really resonates with me as a non-orthodox Jew who follows the principle of tzniut to the best of my ability (definitely not to halachic standards).

Great video thank you. I have started somewhat of a transition in this way and I’m 22. I found that right after graduating college I just had the desire to dress more modestly and like an educated and classy woman. I go to an orthodox shul now with my boyfriend so I’m still learning so many things and trying to expand my wardrobe lol!

If the details matter (I agree), why is it about our comfort (it's not)?
