"I won't kill you... but I don't have to save you... from these bullets that I'm firing."
SomeFriendlessBastard CLASSIC
no a sequel where it's batman and nightwing and cap and falcon vs a team up between winter soldier and red hood
That was the most amazing thing I've ever heard.
"It was a crowbar..... eh ... ehhhh " Ben looking for anything from Sal.
I'd kill for a dc/marvel comic with ACTUAL Comic POP dialogue. Who wouldn't want Joker actually saying "I'm sorry, are you a fucking skull-man??" lol
Dennis S Smith I laughed like Harleys hyena at this myself. Too good!
I loved when, on Civil War, Captain America attacked Punisher after he had killed some villans, and rather than fighting back, Cap was yelling "fight back!!" and Frank said "not against you"
"we have a project named project gotham we can't tell you what it is but you should totally fund it" jajajajajajajajajajaja LMAO
2:30 "And if everyone's edgy; no one is" lol
Exactly.
"It's a crowbar" - LOL! Too soon!
Man, can you imagine a Marvel/DC crossover now? Mephisto meets Nekron, Luthor meets Dr. Doom, and the Red Skull meets Ra's al Ghul while Captain Marvel and Hal Jordan bond over being in the air force, Doctors Fate and Strange argue who's better at magic, and Batman's just in the corner of his cave plotting to defeat all the Marvel heroes. Too bad it'll never happen.
It's funny how Sal inadvertently predicted Captain America in Vietnam which happened in Spider-man Life Story, but there they made it happen in a way that WASN'T a betrayal of his character.
A modern Batman ww2 elseworld story sounds like an amazing concept tbh, Jonathan Crane being a nazi or some shit developing his fear toxin for the nazis or something along those lines.
SOniCs tHe NAme! I can see Lex Luthor making a deal with Roosevelt and then the deal going horribly wrong. Batman has to fix it with superman's help.
Yeah!
That would be awesome!
The Penguin could be his usual scheming self, acting like the philanthropic owner of the Iceberg Lounge while secretly selling weapons to the Axis; Clayface could be the original knife-wielding murderer incarnation and pissed about his talents being wasted in propaganda films; Firefly could be a pyromaniac fighter pilot; Deadshot could be his usual skilled sniper self... et cetera.
In John Byrne's Generations, which is implied to be in the same continuity, they survive, it's implied that Skull takes Joker as a prisoner (although Skull isn't mentioned by name), and after the war Joker is taken by the Russians and spends four years on a Soviet labor camp until Luthor saves him to help him steal some gold kryptonite. Also, you should do Generations one day, it's great.
Generations 1 is amazing.
2 is good.
3 is awful.
sergeant rock sounds like DC's version of Nick Fury
He basically is.
Sargent Rock was one of the soldiers being helped by John Stewart (Green Lantern) in the Justice League cartoon.
This is a fun story. You don't really get to tell adventure oriented capers with Captain America these days, he's almost more of an espionage/Black ops kind of character now.
I don't get why people say this comic is stupid. I thought it was a fun story that was also a nice nod to the golden age of comics.
Ben’s reaction to what he thought Joker would say being true was hilarious!
So I don't know these characters very well but I always thought of Sgt. Rock as being the DC counterpart to Marvel's Nick Fury, not as we know him today as an gent of S.H.I.E.L.D, but in his original incarnation as _Sgt Fury & his Howling Commandos_ Is that an accurate comparison?
I love this crossover it's really interesting to see batman and captain America team up
Captain America overhearing Bruce tell Dick about his appointment with the Joker and misconstrue it as them being in cahoots is like an episode of Three's Company! lmao
I bought this day one back in the 90s, and have yet to read a better Marvel/DC crossover. Loved Byrne's art in it especially.
ellrick agreed
I think I agree, there was one crossover with Daredevil, it wasn't very good
49:08 Sal looking up to the corner for the link is the most meta yet subtle joke I've seen on this channel lol
This was the first comic I ever owned as a kid and I read this ... I don't know how many times ... and I freaking LOVED it. I think about 3 months ago I found it again in my basement. Still love it. So nostalgic!
love the Indiana Jones references
I'm sorry son they got us 😂
Sal looks over Bens head and then the card for Spiderman Reign pops out. Simply amazing 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I'd love to have a batman cross over omnibus.
TIWAI vautier Well, we're one step closer. This month, DC and Dark Horse are collecting all three Batman vs. Predator series.
oh I KNOW!!! got that shit on pre-order dude!
Bought it just after watching that recent back issues
One of my favorite scenes in this book was the simple size up they do for each other.
A fifty minute episode of Back Issues with Batman and Captain America? Time to fix some microwave pizza and sit back. :)

and an ever expanding list of others. I know it's selfish to demand and to place expectations, but this is just the dream list. You guys rock and are one of my favorite channels on CZcams. You'll be at a million in no time with the high quality stuff that you already put out.
None taken.
And I probably missed hundreds if not thousands of other stories.
I love how Ben's attempts at sarcasm keep backfiring
One of my favourite Marvel/DC crossover ever. I want a animated movie from this.
don't forget Big Gizz from that Star Wars story!
Brian Petraglia I wish I could
There is a further elaboration in this same continuity called batman/superamn generations, where it follows bruce and clark as though they continued through the years assuming they both started in 1939.
I was looking for this xD. The first generations is really cool
Also, if playing the ComicPop drinking game, 30:40 take a shot when "circuitous" is mentioned.
of all the potential crossovers, this one would be last in my mind to even consider being real.
This is one of the most enjoyable Back Issues episodes I've ever seen lmbo
I've waited a loooooong time for this one.
I like these videos so much I find myself watching them for events I don't even like
I would LOVE for you guys to do Xmen/Teen Titans corssover, since you've done a few DC/Marvel stuff like this... :)
Psss
Hasn't even started and I already hit the like button.
Just needed the title.
Sal looking at the link instead of pointing it out is subtle and funny. 👌
Happy birthday, Sal!
John Byrne? I'm sold already. I love John Byrne.
Know what I needed after a long day at work? Food & a new ep. Thank you
I recently read the John Bryne Superman/Batman Generations book and was happy to see that this story takes place in that universe. You cam read it between issues 2 and 3 of volume 1 if i remember correctly and we also get to see what happened to Joker.
You guys have absolutely GOT to do Invincible! It's legitimately the best superhero book I have ever read. If I'm being honest, I feel like Invincible is one of the better superheroes we've gotten in recent years. Anyone agree? Please? Someone?
Redbarell never heard of invincible. Who publishes it?
Image
Sam Moore image
ComicPOP right on I'm gonna have to check it out!
Redbarell it's a bit of a slow start but once the big thing happens (not gonna spoil it) it truly becomes the best superhero book I've ever read.
41:50 that sequel would be amazing. Maybe someday, if the big two ever work together again.
It would have been a great time to do Wonder Woman by George Perez
Rodrigo Guerrero Sal dont like tie-ins. . . so he refuse to do one for the movie lol
Wonder Woman by Frank Miller is a much better option 😉
...He did Aliens Day, They did a Guardians book just before Guardians, Suicide got a Back Issues shortly before the movie came out. That just makes the most sense, but they'll probably do Wonder Woman next week after the movie has officially come out
he said he didn't want to in the recent elseworlds exchange
I have the german reprint of this issue in my collection. Gonna read it again.
This was a brillant episode.
Love this episode! We ever gonna get a Valiant episode?
You guys should do Multiversity. That book confused the shit out of me lol
A Captain America/ SGT Rock cross over, by itself, would be much more epic.
Happy birthday Sal.
It's funny that Sal said that they would never cover the first Batman/Punisher crossover, only to end up doing it in 2023. At this point, we could make a supercut of all the times that he said "I'll never do X book" that he just ended up doing
8:45 "YES. THAT'S WHAT I MEANT."
The proper response to anything ever.
Wait, Comic Fortress?? I GET MY PULLS THERE!! :D
Do Superman: Up, Up and Away! One of the best Superman stories ever!
I know of atleast one comic, drawn by Neal Adams, where Batman threw a Hand grenade into a Nazi plane.... Ughh. I can't remember the comics name and I don't find it on google at the moment. But I know that Batman was there undercover as Bruce Wayne and not as Batman(although he did eventually dressed up as Batman)
My fuckin hero! The guy that got me to enlist! Sergeant fuckin Rock!
Sal I'm going to submit the idea of "Superman: at earths end" for back issues. I think you'll hate it enough to enjoy it.
18:01 love the Robin jokes !😂😂😂
I'm sure someones mentioned it here but there was a series of Frank Castle as Cap. It was amazing.
This was a great episode.
The actual origin of yelling Geronimo en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geronimo_(exclamation)?wprov=sfsi1
James G thanks dude. I was about to look this up lol.
Could you please revue the Batman crossover with the Spirit? :)
Oooh, can this be a sign of a coming Superman/Batman Generations Back Issues? Since this story is in that continuity
G-d, I love this comic. I just read it earlier today and I love the comradery between Cap and Batman. Sure, the artwork's okay (I feel John Byrne was best in the '80s) and it's weird how they try to tie it in with Superman/Batman: Generations at the end, but it's so cheerful and fun and respects both characters. Plus, I will always love Joker's revolt against the Red Skull. Even American clown criminals hate Nazis.
These are my favorite episodes! Crossovers!
Captain America not killing people in WW2 was so weird he fought in one of the worst points in world history
That Captain American of Vietnam War story happened, its the origin of Nuke
More crossovers are always good
What made you wanna do this book? I've never heard if it before I'm intrigued
Thank you for properly calling it the oh shit hande
This was great!
Hey Sal, sorry if my memory fails me, but wasn't there a plan for that Zoidberg in the background to back a cameo in all the comicbook channels?
That was the plan. Still waiting for the next location.
I mean hydra would have enough scientists and bomb makers, they would just need Oppenheimer for the know how.
The Joker=Dio Brando confirmed.
Rope is stronger than chain for tying not lifting
Is it possible that you could do an episode on the secret wars (2015) event because I personally really liked it. It would also be fun to see you rip Civil War 2 to shreds....... god that event was terrible.
Looking forward to both!
ComicPOP don't forget to mention that tweet where u pointed out the possibility of Molecule Man farting reality back into existence after eating that burger Miles Morales gave him!!

Radioactive Joker semen made Harley Quinn crazy.
Do a Back Issues on Daredevil Born Again??
34:25 They stole that from The Rocketeer lol
12:08 I still see that
If john carpenter wrote this crossover instead: We're here to chew bubblegum and kill nazis, and we're all out of bubblegum!
Wasn't this crossover set in the Superman/Batman Generations universe?
Technically because it's an Imaginary Tale, they are both set in DC's Earth-3839.
me second Sal a big fan
They should make a modern version of this written by ed brubaker
THE JISSLER RETURNS!!!
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Nuke the Captain America of Vietnam War?
Does Ben think Joker was bitten by a radioactive clown?
comicpop is my tv
Marvel had Sgt Fury and His Howlin' Commandos. 😎
The Punisher in Vietnam as Captain America fighting the joker.2 COMEDIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Batman and Captain America should be in the same universe
I thought everyone says Geronimo lol guess I'm just unaware
yup
I think Batman superman Generations is a sort of sequel to this story
what does "Geronimo" means?
I gotta support Ben, If Spidey's spunk gave MJ cancer then the Joker's could be toxic...
