@Freesmart We don't. I probably will never buy a new far cry ever again. We just want our franchise back. Instead of having this wannabe of just cause, and other games. We want it to have the old far cry identity, instead of this new one. Far cry was more then just some villian on an island somewhere. Now the only reason you know a far cry game is a far cry game is because you have the exact same stuff as previous entries. So what is the problem then? The way they bring it all together changes the game drastically. It is like they don't understand what made far cry far cry to begin with. What's worse it seems they don't care. I hope you could at least understand why we want something we love back. Especially when it can still go places. I played 5, and it isn't far cry. Why even have it. It feels like it was meant as a multi-player game to begin with, and not single player. It doesn't even do that well, and ends up being mediocre all around. Why bother making it like that? Instead they should have just made it an offshoot of the franchise, so that they could just more heavily focus on the crazy shit.

Far Cry 2 perfectly portrayed the cynical use of ideologies for your own gain, the illusion of choice (US two-party system, one of the characters even quoted US politician directly). The only good characters are the journalist (symbol of following the truth at all costs and staying in touch with reality), the underground (humanitarianism) and Jackal who frequently quoted Friedrich Nietzsche (symbol of how moral nihilism is more intellectually honest - truthful - than ideological hypocrisy). You feel alienated throughout the whole game, and The Truth is your only friend in the end. You'd like to think that staying loyal to an ideology is a good thing, but that's a far cry from reality. You know that the writing is good when you can use the title itself when interpreting the story.

I like the aesthetic, but I really hate how every game needs enemy healthbars and levels now. If it's not an MMORPG or MMOFPS, the game should just let you shoot guns at enemies without having to worry about HP.
This is what made Far Cry 2 feel so gritty and heavy. Gunplay felt realistic, enemies reacted to you shooting them, bullets felt like bullets and less like polite suggestions for the enemies to lower their health a bit, enemies would drag comrades into cover if they got shot and got incapacitated.

One thing that stressed me out a lot with this game is the coop friendship circle of doom. Having to stay within a certain radius of each other. Its legit smaller than most of the bases, feels like you're joined at the hip. Takes away so many sandboxy options, you can't approach from different angles, cant have one person being overwatch with a sniper or providing air support with a plane. Not without being within 200 meters of each other, which feels tiny. Can't have one person go find a vehicle and the other work crowd control in bad situations, or persue an objective if the other is pinned down.
The game just doesn't feel like its been designed very well for coop, feels more like a lazy addition they implemented at the end.
That mixed with the weird rpg elements like enemies having health bars, levels and being bullet sponges really killed our excitement for it within a few hours. :(

I really wish they'd catch the hints and blend the elements back in that made Farcry 2 and 3 so good. FC2 was a lot more hardcore with its navigation, and vehicles were often a valuable resource in certain areas that could cause problems if you lost it- plus the exploration and open-world factor of FC2 was pretty good, they didn't hold your hand and you could progress the story at your own pace and your choices mattered somewhat- that being said, it was still flawed in some respects, but I will hold a special place for FC2. Speaking of FC3, although some might not agree, it was a lot of fun hunting particularly dangerous animals and having to get creative so you could upgrade your stuff. If they could blend some of the (well done) hardcore aspects of FC2 with some of the progression system of FC3, that'd probably make for an above-decent Farcry game.
Regardless, it just seems like they're grasping at straws with how to spice up their game and are just throwing new stuff in without much thought to try and draw new people in. If they make an FC7, it's gonna have to be radically different in a lot of areas to hold my attention... the outposts system is so outdated and boring, it would be really cool if they would update this most of all as it's one of the more sorely boring parts of the FC series since FC3.

Oluso is the panther you didn't get. It's stealth companion like Boom Boom that one shot kills in stealth mode and disintigrates the body so it cannot be found. Oluso also comes with a stealth supremo, stealth gear, and a gun that shoots through walls. So yeah, that's the stealthiest set of everything you can get. Though the gun doesn't have a silencer, it's one shot kill so it's great for rushing missions.

And I completed 3/4 of the game (Jacob>Faith>And then alittle of John) without the Detection Meter.
The game essentially became Arma 3's base game single player. And if I wasnt maintaining 100% stealth. Or met them with OVEREHELMING AND ALL ENCOMPASSING Violence. I would get shredded in 3 shots (all guns are Automatic MGs.)
Then I realized that the "Reward" was an Outfit the Shitty Launcher gave me at the start. ("Rook" outfit) that now is Devalued because EVERYONE else has it.

Man jackal has so much scope for expansion and depth as a character. I really get pissed off at ubisoft just taking a look at farcry 2 and just going "nope miss me with that shit" just because it made less money.

I am liking the Far Cry series. I've been playing them in a backwards order. I finished 5, and 4, now I'm playing 3 (classic edition) I'm really liking 3, (besides some of the vehicles getting crazy on me when I'm driving.) and I just got Far Cry 6. Excited to play this one. Since I'm on a binge with these games. These games are a nice pick up and play type of game. I really enjoy the fact That with my busy life, when I am amble to play, I feel a sense of accomplishment with the progress I made and a sense of enjoyment from the time I had playing.

Insanity...is...releasing the exact same fucking game, over and over again, expecting shit to change.

I want to know exactly how many franchises change their signature gameplay with each new entry. With every new entry in any franchise, u either get a new protagonist or a new setting (sometimes not even that. For eg:- Horizon Zero Dawn). Every GTA game is just a bigger map with beautiful graphics and yet almost everyone .... to GTA 5. How was GTA V different from GTA 4. Infact with each new entry, the gameplay in rockstar games becomes more and more frustatingly linear and yet I dont see people crying about that. This is hypocrisy. It is like we have set higher expectations for Ubisoft than other gaming companies. Why is Ubisoft put through a tougher test compared to other developers?

@@sparshbansal6624 GTA 5 compared to 4 was a massive technological jump. It was arguably a masterpiece when it came out in 2013 because it was one of the only open world games to offer such a fleshed out and well told story while providing the player with so many side tasks that were actually enjoyable, paired with it's excellent writing. The story, gameplay and overall design was objectively better. There was also a 5 year time gap between the 2. Far Cry however remains the same every single iteration, the graphics improve slightly, the design philosophies remain almost exactly the same year after year after year. It's oversaturated, and all that changes is the location and the gimmicky villain. The stories are always half assed, and the writing is never as fleshed out as it should be. If you've played Far Cry 3, you've played them all. The games are a lazy cash grab for a developer that has run out of ideas. Horizon Zero dawn is carried by it's story and builds up intrigue, you want to know everything that has happened in the world it sets up.

@@owlish_hotel The difference is the other games aren't released in a yearly basis like Far Cry has been in the past. The devs actually take time to improve the aspects of their games that they feel players are interested in. Far Cry remains the same, with every single release. Bland repetitive gameplay paired with a bland uninteresting story. All that changes is the setting.
