The 2012 animated series that was actually good and was like one of the only good Nickelodeon shows at the time before it ended.
Last Ronin storyline will always be #1, but for me overall the whole 2012 series is amazing!
This is exactly what I needed today. This and the 2003 show are the kings
There’s o lot one really two TMNT movies left to watch. TMNT Turtles Forever and the Rise of the TMNT movie.
This is my favorite TMNT movie and i understand why people think it sucks, the second half was changed and not traditional turtles otherwise it would've been perfect i agree. BUT, the animation, designs, voices, that one donatello sex hotline joke is still up there with my favorite quotes of all time 😂 and the leo and raph fight... legendary 👌🏾🔥❗️
"no sir i'm not playing hard to get, this is not that kind of phone line 🤨"
This movie is so underrated. And there are so many callbacks to previous turtle media. The fight between Leo and Raph is one of the greatest TMNT scenes of all time.
For real I always watched this movie after watching the live action trilogy
@@jakeivy7231it’s basically part 4. Imo though. They should’ve just kept going with this animation style. I saw this one video of some cgi of one of the turtles from the first movie fighting foot ninjas. And it was damn near perfect for now
@@donnyouttheway4091
But this movie always felt more like 2003 turtles then the old trilogy
Gonna say the same thing! Criminally underrated. Leo vs Raph was sublime, rooftop in the rain and the choreography 😮
How do you become a fan of TMNT? :
Honestly out of all the TMNT remakes this was my favourite, the deffinitly looked less terrifying than the Michael Bay version. When I was a kid and first saw this, it looked so realistic! I was so disappointed this didn't get a sequel.
Saw the movie in theaters!
The Michael Bay turtles aren’t terrifying y’all just hate change
This is a sequel
@@hydepark1382
I just think it’s stupid to always expect the turtles to look cute they’re called mutants for a reason I dig the Michael Bay looks specially that they actually have noses in these movies when I noticed the lack of nose I appreciated the few versions where they have noses like real turtles
i loved this movie as a kid
Fun Fact: Kevin Eastman and the director consider this to be in the same timeline as the 90's live action TMNT trilogy
Broad strokes have rarely been this broad.
Recently discovered this movie, can’t believe how underrated this is. The rooftop Raph vs Leo fight is iconic, the main theme is... 🔥 Also that Mikey sewer skating scene might have given me claustrophobia, lol.
The Leo vs Raph fight is SO iconic but I feel like a lot of people tend to miss WHY it's iconic. It isn't just because of events in THIS movie.
It really does feel like YEEEEEEEEARS of pent up anger and rage boiling over for Raph. Because this movie feels closest to the 03 iteration, it can be seen as like a final curtain call for those turtles.
And the fight felt intense because of that. They were really GUNNING for each other-it wasn't just a typical "oh they'll work it out during the fight" type of fight like we've seen before such as in 2003 where they fought several times. THIS was a "oh it's really real" fight. The camera getting really up close and personal during the fight was a great call on the director/cinematographer because it makes you the viewer feel pretty uncomfortable in watching this fight...it makes you feel like you SHOULDN'T be watching this pretty personal fight go down.
Well Leo was actually holding back. You could tell after he saw it was Raph he didn't wanna fight. The fact Leo basically destroyed Raph while he had the helmet on with only his bare hands while Raph had his chain flails shows Leo is more then Raph's match if he really was serious
After all of the live action attempts, which weren't all bad, this was a breath of fresh air. Being able to see the turtles move so freely was incredible.
This film was my childhood. That fight between Raph and Leo was iconic to me.
It's crazy how Raph immediately realized that he actually lost that fight. It was a big character moment
I really enjoyed this film and it' sad they didn't make a sequel. This was the final theatrical performance of Mako who voiced Splinter. Also you had pre Steve Rogers/Captain America voicing Casey Jones with Buffy The Vampire Slayer herself voicing April O' Neil. Patrick Stewart voicing the immortal being who seeks to end his immortality.
I watched this recently and I was so surprised at the cast. They got great actors.
It really sucks the sequels didnt get made, loved this movie as a kid and still do I even bought the handheld games for it. We need more of the great aspects of this movie in more adaptations nowadays.
Leo vs Raph in this movie, is my favourite moment in the entire TMNT franchise. I feel the build and the tension through years of the shows being released in this scene. The anger in Raph's face, the voice acting before the fight, the setting of the fight, I love everything about that scene. I've always wanted another moment to come out of this franchise as good as that again
Loved this movie, this and the 2003 series got me into Ninja Turtles growing up
Yep!! Best version of the turtles since it was mostly like the comics
@@littlesparrow303Fun Fact: Mirage Studios (who had the TMNT license at the time) originally pitched a animatic of the 2003 series to WB or Cartoon Network which WB rejected. Plus, it was originally gonna be made in the same art-style as the comics, you can find the actual video on CZcams.
this was going to be a trilogy and the next one was going to be around mikey but the rights got sold or something, we got ROBBED big time
@@deadn00b1 they did end up making mirage tmnt for 2003 finales great way to end it on someone the only tmnt that respected and faithful to the source material
This movie is enjoyable and underrated! The fight between Leo and Raph is so great! 👍
I was obsessed with this movie as a kid. This reaction unlocked some core memories and I'm surprised how much I remembered haha.
The videogame of this movie is so nostalgic for me. I loved the hell outta this movie and the game.
I had it for the Wii and I had so much fun back in the day
This is my 2nd favorite Tmnt thing of all time, only behind the 2003 animated series for me. Really wish we got a sequel😔
I am assuming that you have seen Turtles Forever?
@@rubensalvador9422 yes lol
This movie introduced me to TMNT as a kid. The tone of this movie is just great
An interesting fact about the Leo vs raph fight, is the Sai were very often used to break or lock swords, so raph literally uses the counter weapon to Leo which played a big part in him winning the fight, as we see before that point he was getting put on the back foot
What's funny is that the use of "Heeeere's Johnny" in The Shining was already a reference to something else (The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson).
This movie is canon. Its a standalone sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993).
No it isn't. The movies are canon to this movie, but this movie is not canon to the 90s turtle movie
I love how this movie is within the same universe as the original movies, however it feels like its own stand-alone film with a unique story and style.
I absolutely loved this movie as a kid and i still love it today. This movie came out when i was 2 and now i'm 19 and it's still one of my favorite movies!
YOU LISTENED! ACTUALLY I DON’T KNOW IF YOU SAW BUT I COMMENTED ON THE LIVE-ACTION VIDS TO WATCH THIS! MY FAVOURITE TMNT WORK EVER THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
I remember being so hyped for this movie and wanting it to make more of an impact than it did. For what it was and as a Turtle fan I still enjoyed it and the turtle designs still look great. I remember loving every time the turtles were shown in shadow with their eyes glowing white.
To me this is still the last Turtle related piece of media to really make an impact and have a soul to it. 2012 show was good. But I never felt fully invested. Mutant Mayhem was cute. But just not very TMNT feeling. Just feels like a coming of age movie with a tmnt skin. Not a lot of turtles aspects that i apreciate.
John: "This seems like a video game i would love to play".
Me: "Wait till he learns about the Wii game"
I freaking love this movie, I saw this in the cinema… the fight between Ralph and Leo in the rain beautiful animation and a great scene!!! This movie needs more love, great reaction cowabunga my dude x
Having grew up with the 1987 tmnt series and the early 90s movies. I still love that movie as well as the family conflict in it. Thanks for existing guys
Same here! I was born in 1984 so I grew up with those too.
@@gibbs615 nice. Also guess what? The Ninja Turtles were first created in 1984 as well
@@SeyaDiakite7 I think they were first made for mirage comics in 1983.
From an animator's insider view, 2007 was such a golden year for animation at large. TMNT 2007 was a fantastic addition to the saga (it's supposed to be a continuation of the original live action saga, so not exactly a remake). In Japan, 2007 gave us the cult classic Seirei no Moribito series, and the absolutely insane movie Sword of Stranger (if you enjoy anime, this one is one for the ages).
As for studio Imagi's TMNT, it was planned that they'd do a sequel, sadly their next movie, a reboot of Atom boy, completely tanked, and it bankrupted them, so that sequel was never made. It could have been one of the greatest TMNT movies ever.
Still, I'm glad Mutant Mayhem is finally picking it up after nearly 15 years.
*You mean Astro Boy lol
@@galaxy_kitten95 yeah, it's always a bit confusing between his Japanese name (Atom) and his Western name (Astro)
I really enjoy these versions of the turtles a lot. I wish we got the sequel to see more of Karai. The Raph & Leo fight is always the best
This movie was a cannon sequel to the live action movies.... shockingly😂
I bought this movie in a 4 pack with the Jim Henson ones (I was born the same year and month the first one came out) and I watched this movie with no expectations. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Cowabunga indeed!
Let's face it: Leo vs. Raph in this movie were visually appealing.
Timestamp: 31:09
It also shows how equal they are as fighters
Patrick Stewart (Evil - Big Bad) : Check out the movie 'Green Room'. Its one of those incredible films that just passed under most people's radar. Also R.I.P Mako who voiced Splinter and is known for Uncle Iroh (Avatar: TLAB); This was one of his final performances.
Just checked to see if someone mentioned Green Room. Great film
I was just going to mention Green Room. He was terrifying in that one.
*THIS....*
*THIS* was not only my introduction to Ninja Turtles, but it's the one Ninja Turtles film I had the most memories with💙💜❤️🧡💚💚💚💚
I love both the rooftop fight and the fact that the main "big bad" of this movie's goal was just to kill himself.
Dude, I thought Leonardo sounded so familiar, and I just realized he was the english voice actor for FFX's Tidus.
This is one of the best watches on this channel. Love the Purge's and Dread and about 100 others but this one hit me good. Been a TMNT fan since I was a kid, one of my favorites...plus all the commentary and references to so many things all over the place, just so good. 👏 👏 👏
this movie was one of the movies of my childhood, its so underrated.
Loved the reaction/review guys, wish the sequels were made for this haha, cos apparently we would have gotten shredder in the 2nd and apparently triceratons and dimension x in the 3rd and I did read that they were going to kill splinter off in the second one
You guys are killing it! One of my favourite TMNT projects to date.
The conversation Mako's Splinter had w/ Raphael is reminiscent/ homage to the 1990 movie when Kevin Clash's Splinter had his heart to heart w/ Raphael bout his anger 🐢💚❤
Am I the only one or John and Andrew look like brothers 😂
God! I love this movie and I literally dreamed that someone would make a reaction to it! the fact that someone could not see him is just terrible and I'm glad that now someone else has looked at him
Is there a single reason why these turtle designs couldn't have been used in live action? They wouldn't even have needed much additional texturing.
Weird that I was certain I didn’t recognize this movie until I started recognizing scenes in this reaction. Memory is a strange thing. 😆
Wait, Uncle Iroh is Splinter?!
The Shredder helmet is from the second movie, this is kind of a fourth movie in that universe.
This was my first ever exposure to the TMNT franchise (we still have the DVD somewhere) and my 4th favorite childhood movie. It doesn’t get a lot of attention but it always holds a special place in my heart.❤️
HOLY SHIT! I haven’t watched this film since I was a child and now I’m just realising Raphael is Nolan North and what is so funny is michelangelo is Mikey Kelley who voiced Ratchet in the first Ratchet and Clank game and Leonardo is James Arnold Taylor who plays Ratchet in the second game and till this day 😂😂 that’s absolutely amazing! Absolute W Cast!
So glad you guys reacted to this and that you had a fresh perspective. It's like you guys feel the same way about the movie I do. Literally some people only think the rooftop scene is worth watching and to be honest you guys didn't touch on it too much in your final discussion which debunks that narrative. I like that you guys understood this movie is about reconnecting with family and that the main plot juxtaposes what's happening on both sides most people don't care for these nuances and just write the film off as generic and boring.
This film is so underrated, one of my favourite films growing up!
I believe the main reason the Shredder wasn't in this was because Peter Laird (TMNT co-creator who was the sole owner of the IP at the time) felt that it had been done to death. The Shredder was a short-lived villain in the original comic, and it was the 1987 cartoon (which Laird had mixed feelings about) that made him more of a long term nemesis (and introduced Krang, inspired by the far less evil Utroms from the comic). The 2003 cartoon had also ran the Shredder into the ground at that point. So Laird basically requested that Kevin Munroe come up with something else. Max Winters, the stone warriors and and the 13 monsters did not come from the comics. That was all Munroe, I believe (although a couple of the monsters are supposed to be Bigfoot and the Jersey Devil, which he technically didn't come up with).
I'm not sure whose idea it was to make this a sort of loose sequel to the live-action trilogy rather than a hard reboot. I suppose the term "reboot" in this context had only been around for a couple of years at that point, being coined around the time of Batman Begins to distinguish it from a prequel or remake.
This quite possible is my favorite piece of TMNT content, so glad you're finally giving it a watch!! ❤🔥🔥
38:43 But the 13 monsters' homeworld was conceived as a take on the dimension X.
Definetly like top 3 TMNT movirs
Growing up I loved this film it just felt so fun and to see the brothers bond in this is really enjoyable and relatable.
This film didn’t deserve the hate it got man .. I think it was a gem I remember my Dad Gave me this film as a Christmas present on a Christmas Day 2007 God I Got so excited and this film is still my favorite
I was obsessed with this when I was a kid kept watching every day
I was never really much of a TMNT guy growing up but I’m actually trying to get into more as an adult. When this movie came out back in 07 All I remembered as a kid seeing it in theaters for one of my best friend’s birthday parties is just how awesome all the action sequences were, how cool the designs for the 13 ancient monsters looked, and crushing hard on the leader of the foot clan Karai! 😂
My childhood fr😂
This Splinter with sunglasses is literally the Cheetos Cheetah
1:50
You know what, every reactor should do this from now on! Everytime the Weinstein Company pops on screen, everyone should applause for their downfall! Thank you Reel Rejects! 👏
Extremely underrated, it's my second favorite TMNT movie behind the 1990 movie
Loved watching this as a kid. Still getting those good vibes.
Leo and Raph having a rooftop battle in the rain- AWESOME!!!!
You're 1 day too early with reacting on one of the ultimate movies of my childhood at my 20th birthday. Impressive timing, thank you.
Damn this is my number one favourite TMNT movie, I use to watch this a lot when I was a kid. I wish they continued with this storyline.
This is the tmnt I grew up on remember seeing it in theaters when I was 8 I’ve always loved it a hidden gem 💎
Dude I’m jealous that you got to see this movie but this was my favorite tmnt movie that got me into becoming a ninja turtle fan along with the 90s movie and the 2012 series
Love that Laurence Fishburne is the narrator in the beginning.
Played the game Ubisoft made on Nintendo DS
All...ALL the references made from other unrelated movies onto this one were not lost on me. Appreciated
Yessss this movie was my childhood and also my introduction to tmnt. So so underrated really wish it was given a sequel
5:31
Turtles Vs Predator?! Holy fuck.
The movie we never asked for but all need.
I had this on DVD as a kid. I can’t even count how many times I recreated that Leo and Raph fight scene with my action figures.
the conflict and relationship between Ralph and Leo is still unbeaten to this day
Old School Phones.
There's still old people and street pharmacist who use those phones.
So here's something interesting, there was a squeal planned while not much is really known, what the basic plot is that Shredder would've returned, and everyone except Mikey would've gotten demutated back to normal Turtles (and Rat for Splinter's case).
Despite barely beginning to live in the 2000s, I still know they were a great time, shame I wasn't the age I am now to enjoy them to the fullest.
Despite being one of the odd ones out in the franchise, this one was the one I grew up with and I'm glad it was.
most underrated TMNT movie.. so good!
To quote apocalypse xmen 90s cartoon, "i am not malevolent. I simply am." Patrick stewart pharoh technically wasnt an evil person. A product of his up bringing yes. Anx the ideas of that up bringing was not cool. But technically his character wasnt evil in prince of Egypt. Ps. I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Such an underated movie. This movie and batman vs turtles are my favorite turtles movies. The cinematography, the fight choreography, music, and the individual characteristics and performances of all the characters. Fantastic!!!!! The rain fight scene is so well done. Why it doesn't get more love is beyond me. "To each his own" i suppose. Great reaction guys.
Ahh yess, the most underrated TMNT movie. so glad you guys decided to react to this under appreciated masterpiece 🔥
A wolverine vs predator comic is releasing next month In September :)
20:26 as long as one of the foot clan or some as guy sees them and says “THEY FLY NOW?!”
My favorite video game cutscene!
Love this movie, especially Leo vs Raph
This one is criminally underrated, this a 💎
I remembered this movie for so long but only recently watched it again. It’s honestly underrated
this was like my fav movie back than the stone guys felt so advanced to me the fight between ralph and leo filled me with so much emotions 🥲
IMO I always thought this TMNT, The 2003 TMNT show, TMNT: Secret Ooze, and TMNT 2012-2017 show were the best ones
TMNT sure is a great watch. Seems like all of you guys had a great time.
This is one of my childhood movies still have it on DVD. I’d pop this movie in at least 2 times a week
One thing I liked about this movie was how they just said "screw it" to most of the lore, like we aren't dealing with Shredder and we had a time skip where the team is divided.. it just.. was a nice change of pace
As a lifelong Raph fan, the fight he and Leo have in this movie is so fucking satisfying.
Yes, but remember, Leo was pulling his attacks, he didn't really want to hurt Raph and he actually could have killed him had he wanted to.
@Falcun21 Haha. Movie came out in 2007 and Leo fans still salty.
@@TheLanceUppercut Not salty at all. Leo clearly could have simply twisted his wrist and sliced Raph's throat and he chose not to.
Who else remembers the TMNT game that was based of this movie? I use the rip through that game dozens of times after watchin this movie when I was a kid
I absolutely love this movie, I remember watching it as a kid, like around 7 or 8 years old when I seen it and my dad bought me action figures from this movie specifically, a classic for me honestly
All I hear when Mikey is talking is Silver Surfer from Super Hero Squad. Also, is it just me or does Nolan North’s Raph kinda sound like Alan Ritchson’s Raph?
Oh the game was sick, I remember playing on the XBOX 360, so much fun
I remember when I downloaded TMNT 2007 on my computer when ARES was a thing back then and this movie was so good and I cannot believe how underrated this film was
so many memories GOD I REMEMBER THIS
This movie is the pinnacle of my childhood, it’s amazing
That is Jim Cummings!!!. You have to checkout Gargoyles: The Animated Series and the multiple roles he plays in that series is just impressive.
