  • This camel was so neglected and hungry that his humps collapsed. But the right people found him, helped him grow, and watched in awe as he ran free for the very first time.

      Sugar Rush that’s when you put them at their place. You can be kind but also be strong and not tolerate being stepped on. It doesn’t equate to retaliating in violence or cursing, since that’s no longer being kind. Plenty of ppl are *able to put someone in check and still act w/ class and integrity. It’s not easy, but it’s shows a good character and social consciousness.

    Aww this lady seems like such a good person. It really was sad seeing her emotional when he was being sent to the sanctuary :( I’ll never understand how rescuers and fosters are able to handle the separation from animals that they nurture back to health and life. I don’t think I would have the gall to be able to separate from them and want to keep all of the animals I fostered which I know I can’t because I won’t have enough space and not be able to help other animals

    • @mehere8038
      @mehere8038 Před 2 lety +32

      I'm a wildlife rescuer. It can be hard, especially for ones that you worry for whatever reason may struggle to survive after release, but ultimately, the reason I & others like me do it is cause we know they belong in the wild & that's what we're going to get them back to & there's various ways that we hear how at least some of them are doing later & it's always rewarding to know they have such a full & happy life cause of what you've done for them :)
      One bird I had, I was doing exercise/wing strengthening work with him & was just about to finish off for the day, cause I could see he was ready to fly properly & so needed a couple of days to rest & let the soreness from that exercise subside before release, but he took off & I couldn't grab him in time. I worried about that one, cause he really wasn't quite ready & the plan was to "soft release" with supplemental food for a couple of weeks to make sure he survived, but when he escaped, it meant he didn't want to come back, cause he thought he'd be caged again & had decided he wanted to be free (as he was born), so I really did worry about him & thought he'd probably died. Anyway, about a week later, there was a mega storm & the next morning when I went outside, there he was, sitting inside the cage he'd been in with me lol. Since I didn't have any other animals in it, I'd left the door open, so he'd gone inside & was sitting there in the safety of the cage, with a roof over his head lol. Guess he didn't like the storm. I gave him a feed & he sat in there for a few hours before coming back out of the cage & exploring the yard. He kept hiding in the cage for the next few weeks, but eventually he settled down & moved into a local tree & after a few more weeks, he found another of my rescue birds he liked & so they paired up & went off together. They still kept coming back for daily feeds for a month or so but then stopped that & just came back when it had been raining & so there wasn't so much nectar around & just to say "hello" as well.
      So that one was great for me, cause even one I'd really worried about & thought hadn't made it had & he was clearly happy with his wild life. He enjoyed the chance to get a free feed after his rescue, but ultimately he didn't want to be a pet or caged or in my care forever, he wanted his freedom & had a great & happy life, cause of me giving him that chance of helping him to recover from a serious concussion & head injury from flying into a window

    For those who noticed this ranch is called the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch. Cleveland Amory was a well known writer and reporter who basically was the founder of the modern animal rights and protection movement. He named the ranch after the book 'Black Beauty'. It is over 1400 acres and houses all kinds of animals. Cleveland got his love of animals from his aunt in early childhood. He bought the first ship for the Sea Shepherd Organization to help stop Japanese whaling murders. He founded and funded multiple animal charities throughout the world. He died in 1998. His life was extremely interesting and he wrote three books about his cat called Polar Bear. If you love animals try to research him or get one of his books it will be a rewarding experience.

      depends how they're run. Nothing wrong with properly run petting zoos, they're a way for kids to experience animals & learn to love them, which in turn will lead to them funding animal rescues & caring for animals as they get older.
      The ones where I am at least always make sure the animals needs are respected, that they get enough time away from kids when they need it & they make sure kids understand the rules of no running, squealing, grabbing the animals etc & make sure there's ample food available in cups that the kids can hold, so as to encourage interactions in a way the animals like & they either have plenty of animals, so that the animals are fighting for the chance to get the food & interact with the kids, rather than the other way around, or they limit the number of kids allowed in at any given time, so as to achieve the same result & they also have appropriate species of animals, including a dog or 2 that can handle non-stop patting & cuddles

    I still wonder why someone thought putting Bubba in a pasture with animals with severe horns like those antelope is beyond me. I am happy and appreciate all they did for him but Bubba really did need a pasture with animals who could not injure him - like deers and pigs and geese and find other 🐫 rescued camels to be with. Herd creatures need to be with their own kind to become a herd. There is a lot of tribal mentality that can go on in the animal kingdom. R.I.P Bubba, love you and your story has inspired me to learn more about Camels and have goals and dreams of setting up a Camel rescue santuracy solely dedicated to camels 🐫 ❣️🙏🏼

Now He's in all that space will He be able to form a bond with anyone, human or animal? I hope with all my heart They bring another Camel there so he can have someone of his own kind to talk to & understand him but how likely is that in reality that They'll find another Camel in need of rescue? I'm hoping They'll realise how important it is for him to be with someone of his own kind & actively seek out a Camel from another rescue or negotiate with a Zoo. God knows that place is better than a Zoo so the latter would be a big win win for everyone. Poor Bubba. I really fell in love with him. He's such a sweet Boy. I've seen some terrible cruelty towards Camels. Things You wouldn't believe. Far too upsetting to share with other animal lovers. But I know They go through a lot with some of those Arabs. An every month dependable donation of $5 to $25 dollars that can be depended on will save thousands of animals lives.
