Played way too many hands; why are you calling raises with JTo out of position in the first level? You’re also fighting for pots that aren’t that big, which means bluffs get called all the time. You can’t win the tournament early but you can definitely lose it early, as others have said, gotta let the cards come to you sometimes and be patient when the blinds are low. Can’t just hope to sun-run and get Aces ten times like the other tourney.

I like Ethan, I do. I'm rooting for him, but if you watch his vlogs, I think it's clear that his play is unbalanced - he barrels through with big bets when he's bluffing, and when he has something he checks or bets smaller. Gee, I wonder why on those big-money live streams he lost so much ? Maybe good players have realized the obvious ?? I know he has a lot of money from his 2 impressive tourney wins, but at the rate he is going I think he is doomed. I really wish he would get some high-level coaching, that he could easily afford right now, so that when he is entering a prestigious event like this, that he takes it seriously and is prepared. 33 ? Three-betting an early raiser with K8s ? Seems reckless to me.

More tournament study. This is painful to watch. The problem is that the main event is notorious for having to navigate the land mines that are recreational players. You're trying to use logic to navigate people who have no logic or a real game plan. You can't bluff a call station. They are always going to call. The best thing you can do is show them the nuts over and over again. There are some people who are going to always call because they don't know any better. Attempting to bluff in early portions of the main event is suicide.

@@charleswallace9003 I’m contradicting your claim that “you don’t win by luck”. I’m saying you do win by luck. Sure, skill is involved - without skill you won’t get very far, but you also can’t win without luck. If it were purely a game of skill then we would’ve seen a single person win multiple championships. Like Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt in their respective competitions. Long hard trip into the Boulevard of Broken Poker Dreams. Ticket was ten grand. But sometimes you need to see what your weaknesses were, and save your pennies for next year. This time, everyone else was Lucky AND Good, instead of choosing Lucky instead of Good. But you got to the Main Event. Some of us has real jobs and budgets to stick to, and can't punt 10 grand off without "Accountability to Others."

Tournaments can be quite a bit more emotional than cash. I do understand the disappointment felt on busting early in a long winded tournament though not the Main Event. It stings but you took down a large tournament this year, and next year's event, you will be much better prepared. I know you will.

  • @MrEbmanii

I would not have folded QQ on that hand/board. Played very loose with other hands and tight with some good ones. Folding more will help you vs a lot of these plays. Love the tourny play, hope you win another. I feel like there were a lot of errors made this tourny, but tough flops too so, I feel ya.
