  • "I have a son who's desire is to be an adom gadol. He is inspired to spend his free time learning and even wishes we would allow him to stay up all night learning. To his understanding, if he does this long enough, he will see Eliyahu h'navi. When he hears how big people hardly sleep, he wants to imitate them. I'm struggling to teach him the value of sleep when his 'heroes' don't seem to need (much) sleep. I am also curious how it is possible for someone to manage on 3 hours (or less) of sleep regularly and continue to function well. Please can you advise me on how to approach this contradiction?" Rabbi Kelemen answers.
