    Hello Allison, I just purchased your full lesson plan for the violin and I couldn't be happier. I actually took the violin in the 4th grade in school, but I didn't stick with it. I have been a musician for over 50 years (guitar, keyboards, drums and various other things) and I read read music. I leafed through your material and I found it very well done, concise and written in a way that's easy to understand. I bought another violin about a year ago and have started on learning it now, with your help. You've put a lot of heart into these lessons and I know I'll find them extremely useful. Thank you for putting these videos and music books out. I look forward to finishing the entire course, and at my own pace. So now, I can add the violin to my list of instruments that I play.

    Hi Alison - You mentioned in prior videos about the rosin; but it's a good reminder to let your students know that the rosin, when purchased new, will be smooth and glassy. The surface of the rosin needs to be scratched and ruffed up before applying the rosin to the bow. Otherwise, the student will be rosining the bow all day long, and not get any sound with the violin. What a
    bummer. 😕

    Allison, as always, you are informative, instructional, insightful, and inspirational. Sorry, I'm working on my I's today. Between you and Pierre I've been enjoying my journey with my fiddle and getting better as my retirement years go by. Hope your doing well.
    If you haven't tried one yet , you should check his Fiddlerman hybrid bow. It's a carbon bow with a pernambuco veneer. The balance is perfect, reaction time on the strings is instant, and between the three that I have, the weight is an average of 60 grams and no more and since it's carbon, I have no problems during temperature or humidity changes.

    Hello Alison, I've been introduced to David Garrett through his videos (and through you) and I'm very impressed. This may be off topic, and I don't know if jazz and rock fusion is to your liking, but I was wondering if you are also familiar with a violinist named Jean Luc Ponty ? I have been listening to him since 1976 and I just wondered if you also were familiar with him. Thank you.

    Extremely helpful, thanks a lot for this.
    Which pianos do you recommend for beginners by the way?
    If one wishes to play piano for a long time and eventually play classical pieces then which number of keys are preferred? 36 or 60 keys?

    • @ViolinAround
      @ViolinAround Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Houria, if you want to play classical pieces you will definitely need at least 60 keys so perhaps aim for that for now. If you can get the full 88 keys even better but 60 is a decent start. Hope that helps 🎻

      We have moved away from Patreon as of 1st Nov as we have been having ongoing issues with them for months now. Im very close to finishing my new website which will be bigger and better than Patreon.
      No-one was charged this month so if you were a patreon you wont have access anyway.
      An email went out to all Patreons last week explaining what the situation is.
      You'll get another email when the new one is up and running. :)

      My '1-30 Violin Course' is $59.99 which is a one time buy and has everything you need.
      You can watch all 30 videos on my youtube channel for free so you can see what you will learn, but you will need the books to actually learn as the videos accompany the books - not the other way around. You would need a selection books regardless of which method you used to learn (online, private teacher etc) but my course is professional, affordable, done in your own time in the comfort of your own home and guarantees to take you from a beginner to an intermediate player :)
