- Watch and listen to a charm of Rufous Hummingbirds being hand fed and be amazed by their agility, impressed by their extraordinary flight skills, and made aware of just how small these fascinating creatures actually are. These adorable little birds will steal your heart!
Wearing headphones enhances the POV experience, allowing you to hear them flying all around you and whizzing past your head.
Hummingbirds: I can drink AND sit? Genius!
They cant sit long their hearts will stop ;)

It’s fascinating how they can just “hang” in the air perfectly balanced in one place. Only the wings work. The rest of the body stands still.
It's really pretty, They look like standing in the air.

Yes! It's so otherworldly. I've never seen this before or thought it's possible. 😮🤩🙂
@Rohan Vidhate Oh, I see. Thank you for this information. 🙂

This makes me realize how small hummingbirds actually are
There r some that r actually smaller. Theyre beautiful little birds
Imagine if there was a bug the size of a hummingbird flying around like that
Hummingbirds are so small that praying mantises sometimes hunt them!
True dat. They look the same size as the palm of your hand
Yes
The level of control these little dudes have over their position and momentum is insane. Perfectly levitating, but able to quickly jump to another spot instantly.
They move the same as hover flys which is odd to see a bird moving like an insect.
@@legobrickabrac it's amazing how nature is
their wings beat 1000 times per min bruh. Thats way more than enough for their weight class. Its pretty obvious that they can maneuver through air however they like.
They can fly upside down too
And that wingspeed is exactly why

@LIDL Tubson because it takes up a lot of energy to do that
@LIDL Tubson Hummingbirds have to eat three times their weight in nectar everyday just to fly this way. Any other bird that tried this with what they eat would get to heavy to fly.

I don't think I've ever seen a hummingbird stop and sit until just now.
I have a few times.
Hummingbird fact, they need to feed on nectar aprox every 10 minutes due to their body metabolism being as fast as it is due to their heartbeat
If you have feeder with perches, they’ll sit all day. I had never seen it prior as well. Now they just sit and fight over the feeders. Lol
They do all the time. There’s a tree in my backyard that has 20+ on it at all times. But if you look at trees closely you will see some chillin out. Just hard to see so smol

@@neilneil4021 sometimes they do. I’ve seen one at night near my house on the 4th

I guess you must do this fairly often, or they have no real fear of people. Such a great moment to capture!
The only thing a hummingbird fears is another hummingbird and these young ones especially, are not shy at all.

Word!
No matter its size, hummingbirds are some of the most awe-inspiring creatures to see in the backyard.
they're beautiful but honestly remembering their feeding habits kinda terrify me, because to facilitate their physiology they apparently starve to death if they go 3 to 5 hours without food, not to mention they generally have to eat every 20 minutes to keep themselves filled up, they're wonderful but that's ridiculous
@@unculturedswine5583 Indeed. My neighborhood has lots of flowering plants, so they’re doing very well around here.
@@unculturedswine5583 ,
I am not sure about that. Just last summer I filmed a hummingbird right outside my living room. Uploaded the video to FB and said I was surprised to see them so far in the north (Michigan here). Someone told me it’s normal, cos they can even fly cross Gulf of Mexico. I did some research after I saw it. It’s true. They can build up a fat reserve to fly for hundreds miles. That means the constantly feeding or die can’t be true. I uploaded the video to my CZcams as well.
And cute!
