@@CGBuildit’s a hobby for me rn. I just started and built my first (fully) custom keeb yesterday but it was fun. I would 10/10 do it again. I also realized how much more efficient I became. My first one wasn’t fully done but it didn’t have an angled typing and didn’t feel good either. I’m glad and hope to experience more typing angles and more keyboards as time goes on!
The reason I got into customs were strange. All my life, I had dirty keyboards because I neglected but since I got custom keyboards, I clean them regularly. Also, typing became a hobby of mine and it's super satisfying to type on a nice board with a favorite switch.
@@friendsRfor773 no shit? I've seen and read about people spending the money they don't have in these kinda things, happens more often then you'd think. Just adding to what CG said, no need to be a wise boy ;)
In this modern times, we spend the same hours of typing to how much we sleep.. so for me.. it’s like investing for a bed.. especially if you are working in a office…you spend 8-9hrs typing as much as you spend 8hrs to sleeping…but i think, 1 or 2 boards are enough..
Well mostly i like to type on monkey type and play games so thats why i would want a custom keyboard but since its hard to get a custom keyboard in serbia its almost impossible so sadly i will not get one until i have a job or shomething and also i dont have a lot of money and my parents think its money wasting
As someone who just built their first custom one, no. My off the shelf $80 razer keyboard from 2016 was actually still just fine. $170 on something new and quite frankly so single component of it is quite what I like. And I'm supposed to just spend more until it feels right?
Hey awesome vids! I decided to get the qk75 in pc plate after watching your video and some others. Do you have recommendations on overall switches? I mostly use my keyboard to game, work from home, and general use. I know that certain switches are better than other for different activities but I am overwhelmed on that aspect. Bonus if its creamier haha.
@@MateiiziGMD yea it depends on the switch I think there are a few custom keyboard switches that are either speed switches or you get a long pole linear like durock Pom or jwk quartz if you can find them and for long pole ones they have a bit less travel over all so they are pretty good for gaming
i abuse the fuck out of my current keyboard by playing rhythm games practically everyday, if i did have the money for a custom board i would but i do be broke asf lols
Do I really need those shoes? I mean what are you doing with the shoes? Are you hiking? Going to an interview for a FAANG corp? Are you going to the red carpet??? I mean why you think you need shoes? $20 a year every year and you can have a new pair once a year. Or maybe you like the feel, sound, firmware, lighting, custom led coding, zmk & Bluetooth learning for your other endeavors, 😂 oh I meant shoes
I don't type that much but i still very much enjoy the hell out of building and modding custom keyboards.
Yeah that’s how I started and now I need a keyboard for everything 😂

Feel like custom keyboard needs to go mainstream so we dnt have dumb options like 150 usd keycaps like the monopoly is crazy
@@vmloose then that's their dumbass problem no? If you spend your money without checking your budget then that's your issue lmao
