Road Trip through Alabama + Mississippi Gulf Coast!

- Today we're hitting the road for the first leg of my 3,000 mile road trip through the southern United States. We'll be checking out Montgomery Alabama, where Rosa Parks made history and Hank Williams left his mark on the town, grabbing lunch at the Shed BBQ and Blues Joint in Ocean Springs, MS, and taking a cruise along the Gulf Coat Scenic Byway.

Love how you promote a local area’s culture and food even when you don’t have the time to stop and explore every place. I also picked up a pair of gaiters that go over boots and up to mid-calf. The work great in the rain and during cold weather!

were gonna be down that way on our yearly bike trip, was wanting to go to Mongomery because of the Hank Sr. sights, might have to add that bbq joint in because we are going to the Skynryd monument, and hell, thats on the way! lol. thanks for the recommendation!!

Excellent tunes! The "sweet BBQ sauce" would be on purpose to complement the "peppery" crust. Separate from each other-expect disappointment. Together: MMMMMM! Since I know you’ll be in Wisconsin in July, may I recommend Sloppy Joe’s Saloon & Spoon in Hubertus, Wisconsin. (Just east of Holy Hill) I ate there today. The burnt ends were the best I’ve had in a long time. The Carolina slaw had a bit of a kick, but was delicious. The pulled pork was excellent and the chips are homemade.

I was lucky enough to spend two different times on the gulf coast in Pascagoula getting 2 ships built. It totaled about 8 months in total between the two. I love the people, the history and the food. I would weigh a lot more than I do currently if I lived there full time. My favorite time is spring for all of the catfish and mud bug festivals.
Crawfish season is the best!! I agree. The gulf is such a unique area of the country. Gotta love it!

Alright! Another place to add to my bucket list of places to visit. Man! If ate all that for lunch, I would be falling a sleep while riding. And YES! dessert can make or break a great meal.

Haha, I did that too in Texas when I stopped in at Cattleack BBQ for the Texas Trinity Platter. It was raining with no where to sit, so I packed everything on to the bike and headed to Amarillo where I enjoyed the meal in a motel. Gotta love banana pudding.

I keep missing you! lol I've only ran into Traveling Tall 2 times and HerTwoWheels on my travels! We just got back from our run which took us through Leeds Alabama! Little wet but ended our trip at Jack Daniels with a tour and then a sunshiney ride home on last day! We had 1 out of 8 days where we didn't were jackets or rain gear but, we had a great week riding from WV south and west to the Rattlesnake Saloon and home on all back roads!

Next time you go through the MS gulf coast area try the chicken and potato salad at the shed. I am no fan of potato salad but I will drive out of my way for there’s.
Oh hell yeah! You were in my home town(Ocean Springs) I miss the food and ambience of home. Ugh. Fort Worth just doesn’t do fried okra right. Rats that you didn’t get a chance to pop by Tatonut for a coffee.

Did you stop at the Barber motorcycle museum? You were only about a mile from it at the buc ees. It's a must see for motorcycle lovers. Mt Cheaha State Park was about an hour away also. There are great bike riding roads all in that area.
Yes I am aware of barber lol and no I did not stop on this trip. As the video showed, I was pretty busy trying to get to where I was goin’ and unfortunately that means skipping things sometimes. Thanks for understanding!

You should ride to The Burger Bar in Bristol Virginia. It is the last place Hank Williams was seen alive. Some really cool history in the area too.

Hi Staci, did you have issues with the beauty ring after you upgraded to the custom dynamics led light? not the shark demon, the other one. Cant get the beauty ring to stay on it. Probably gonna put som silicone on it but curious to see if u had this as well.
nope, no issues. check the teeth. they're known to break off. mine has been hanging on by 2 of its 3 teeth since a few days after I bought my ST lol!

The Shed just won Grand Champion at The Memphis in May World BBQ contest. I know you're not much of a pork eater but, they won top honor with the whole hog category. This is their 3rd time winning Grand Champion.
Yeah they’re definitely known for their pork bbq and not their beef based stuff. I’d go back just to try their pork bbq but I definitely wouldn’t go back just to eat brisket lol! I wanna go back when they’re doing a crawfish boil actually!
