How could anyone be born with such perfect gift of voice? Totally flawless and effortless ,she changed range and styles as if were simple to do. Her beautiful voice and all the so very beautiful songs she sang (film soundtracks and theater ) makes her my favorite singer in the world. Please listen to her song "On My Way to You"....just ...perfection!
Maureen McGovern is a vocal goddess. Much appreciated by critics and fans alike. I have seen her in concert twice., Used to have a copy of this. Soooo delighted to find it again. Her tone, range, interpretation and humour are all amazing. Maureen I adorest thou mine lady.
I don’t know if my simple COMMENT amounts to a hill’o’beans or what but ….. this vocal artist is AMAZING and TIMELESS. Fans will be discovering and then rediscovering her gifts. Vocal artistry, Showmanship and Oh so easy on-the-eye. Thank you GOD for this wonderful performer. ❤️🎶❤️🎶😀
What a voice! She is amusing and funny while performing at stage. Her voice sounds like a cross between Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion .Her song "We Could Have It All" impressed my mind when I was a kid.
Great job Jeff Harris on piano. Girl has pitch-perfect attack. 25:00 everything was beautiful at the ballet... 43:00 the A6 squeal, then blowing her bangs out of her eyes--- hysterical!
Goosebump-raising greatness, she is a genius of the theatrical song. Such expression, and executed with perfect mastery. What a mind, and what a heart. I was grateful the video and sound were so good, as well. I wish there was more info about it under publisher's notes, some people deserve credit for funding and production, it would be fun to know.
Love to listen to her songs and see expressions she does. Who says... a person who began with 'The morning after' reaching this level, it´s no for anyone. O LOUCO, MEU, QUEM SABE, FAZ AO VIVO!!
Most amazing voice and vocalist I’ve ever heard! She’s better than all the popular female singers of that era. Wish she did a couple more pop crossover albums in the 80’s, like Barbra and Dionne Warwick style
You will have success in the right places. If you visit her website, there are several CDs available right there. Go to maureenmcgovern (dotcom) and check it out. Amazon and eBay also have lots for sale, but there really are only singles, LPs, and CDs out there, no DVDs (except for movies where she is on the sound track).
@@harlandted I just this week learned about something interesting. On Vimeo, someone posted a live performance by McGovern of a medley which includes part of "We May Never Love Like This Again." The video is entitled "Autumn 2018 - Lake Anna - West Point Concert." The concert clip starts about five minutes into the video.
Maureen sang that song from _The Earthling_ on at least two or more television programs around 1981. Mainly on telethon broadcasts, but in every case she lip-synced to the single.
@@tatystar5724 In the early 1980s, I used to place the little cassette recorder up near the TV to record the audio from something I wished to preserve. So these are not video recordings. I think Maureen sang "Halfway Home" on a March of Dimes telethon, and maybe on one other telethon, but as I said, always lip-syncing to the record. At that time, even the 45 was hard to find! Maureen recorded "Halfway Home" on David Shire's CD _At the Movies,_ which sounds a lot like a live recording. That single is available from Amazon Music. She also recorded a beautiful arrangement of the song on her own CD _Works of Heart,_ which is still available on her official website. I think Maureen performed the song at a Salt Lake City concert which aired on the local PBS station there. I have the impression that a few of the songs from that concert are already posted, but the audio and video aren't great. Whoever posted those may have more, however.
@@misterlyle., I`brazilian and live in Brazil. In 80`s and 90`s, our TV channels never showed any of her interview or performance. We didn´t have cab TV with american channels to get her apparisions. It`s possible to see only last decades at internet. There are some songs I`d love to see videos of her singing, one of them is 'Born in the Heart', she sings with a children`s choir (do you know?). Since now, thanks a lot!
@@tatystar5724 I don't remember any video performances of that beautiful song. There may have been one on the MDA Telethon, however, since she performed regularly on that telethon for years.
There is a live performance of that song on this platform. The audio and video are lacking, however. I think it is from a Salt Lake City concert that was broadcast on the local PBS channel in the early 1980s. She also sang it live on the John Davidson Show around the same time. Both are without the full orchestration of the studio release. Years later, she performed the song from Superman live with the Boston Pops and John Williams himself directing. That is the best live performance I have seen. (The studio release sounds better, overall.)

And perhaps also Jewel and Paula Cole.
Yes, the first time I hear her song 'The morning after' in a radio station in 1998, I thought was Celine...
Presiosa voz y simpatía.
what an ARTIST!
I was missing her music and I searched CZcams, and here the Goddess was singing as magnificent as she can only do!
Maureen McGovern on Stage at Wolf Trap, PBS, 1988

que bonito cantas MAUREEN MCGOVERN!
I COULD HAD BEEN A SAILOOOOOR... Love this song too. You could put the name of the songs of this video, please.
OMG! Thank you!! I had this in VHS for years and LOVED it. But the tape disappeared in a move. You just made my day!
The many gems I have "lost" in various moves... I feel your pain.
I've been a fan since the early days. Why is it impossible to find her performances on DVD and CD?

I do not find a word to describe her divine perfomance.Ok I found it DIVINE.Who is the pianist?
Jeff Harris
Hans R. de Vries: Thank you. What a pianist.
Is that all?Missing 'We may never love like this again'...
I agree. I can’t find her singing it live on CZcams. I mean it did win an academy awards in 75.

Almost toppled by Rico J Puno (guest performer singing The way we were) during her concert in the Philippines.
She sang none of her big songs
I prefer Cole Porter much more. These magnificent, gifted singers like Maureen M. are always pressured to sing lousy songs.
