I’ve had this filter for about 5 years now. It’s not bad. I love it. It’s just loud . Definitely can tell the difference in air quality . And it has has a good market for off brand filters . Unlike some of these other units on the market where you have to buy the specialized filters with the fancy “anti bacterial” coatings etc. Energy efficiency doesn’t seem like a huge cost difference . When I don’t run this through the month my bill may be like $5 less a month or so . Not even that noticeable for clean air.

One thing to consider. The Coway has an ionizer which emits ozone. I feel if you are concerned about lung heath this could be an issue. I emailed them to ask if it emits ozone when the ionizer is off, no reply. It is hard question to get answered, some state it still emits ozone with the ionizer turned off. Not good in a closed room 24/7. The Honeywell does not have an ionizer - No Ozone. I believe the Levoit models also do not have a ionizer. Blue Air also emits ozone, they claim it to be small and safe. I am of the belief air purifiers should have nothing to do with generating ozone, it is a pollutant! If the Coway does not make ozone with the ionizer switched off it is a good choice, but darned if I can find out. An ozone measuring tool is not cheap.

I have been wanting an air purifier for a while for a multitude of reasons. The final straw was the pets... One bearded dragon, two gerbils and two male mice (male mice have a very strong odor). I plugged this thing in and I kid you not it took 3 minutes for the house to smell fresh again. The pet mice made it smell like bad shrimp so this was a blessing. I really am happy with this product!

From one teacher to another great job on the video. I used your video when I decided on the unit. I wanted to suggest to you and fellow subscribers... I plan on using a smart plug to connect to the unit. That way I can get the energy ratings under control. What's your opinion? Thanks again.

This unit seems to have a energy star so not sure why you find HP air purifiers (100/200/300)to be energy inefficient. Can you kindly shed some light on your thoughts in this regards. Thanks

They are energy inefficient compared to many other air purifiers I tested for review. I compare the power draw and energy efficiency of different units in more detail in their respective reviews: www.consumeranalysis.com/guides/air-purifiers/best-air-purifier/#reviews

Have you reviewed the Honeywell 5000 Insight Series?

I own two of these and they are a waste of money. Both died after less than a year. Touch switch no longer works. I guess I can blow air through the clean HEPA filters using a walgreen fan.

Wondering if the energy efficiency (cfm per watt) is related to the durability of the motor used. They are giving this a 5yr warranty which is better than average. Perhaps the motor is heavy duty type. So many air cleaner-purifier motors are cheap Chinese junk. This is unit is exactly what I am looking for so it is tempting.

How long do the Hepa filters last?

    • @consumer-analysis
      @consumer-analysis  Před 4 lety +1

It depends on the application but most filters last 6 to 12 months.

  • @billyp9288

amazon reviews for coway airmighty show fan exploding with sharpnels, so it might be trading durabilty for litte more efficiency. i would stick with honeywell with 5 yr warranty and keep my eyes safe from sharpnels.

Why does he say this purifier doesn't have a pre-filter? The description on the product page clearly say "Uses pre-filter HRF-ap1"

@ Mr.CoolHats, Pre-filter consumer analysis is referring to MESH pre-filter the plastic type filter like most of all aircondition had and it is definitely washable filter that can save u buy a filter every 4-6 months, duhhh!

Is this a REAL Honeywell product or is some outfit just using their name, like Bell & Howell.
Honeywell is a blue chip company that makes industrial quality products.
Also the presenter says that hair is ATTRACTED to the filter, it this because it uses an electrostatic filter?
If not there is NO ATTRACTION the hair is just trapped by the HEPA filter, there is a BIG DIFFERENCE.
Honeywell does make electrostatic units but not at this price.
For the price I doubt that this is an electrostatic device, so his description is at best MISLEADING.
I doubt that this is MANUFACTURED by Honeywell.
