  • A look at the HPA300 from Honeywell. This HEPA whole room Aar purifier claims to have a 99.97% capture rate for microscopic allergens. After a year of ownership it has performed well, is quiet, and has helped to move air around a 400+ sq. ft. room to aid in balancing the heating and cooling in the room. The quirk is that the pre-filter comes in a one-size fits many models requiring you to cut it to size. There are multiple sizes, a white color option, and a bluetooth variant (model HPA8350B).
    I purchased mine locally at Menard's during an 11% rebate sale, if you're interested, below are Amazon affiliate links that help support this channel.

    I love free stuff. A friend of mine just gave me one of these. She was dating a guy who was allergic to her dog and cat; so they purchased one for her house. Apparently when they broke up, she kept it but never used it again. They only had a few months of use out of it. So now it is mine, and it has helped me so much in my house. I still have the allergies going on (Texas is evil), but they're nothing like how they were before I had this in the house. I definitely recommend this for people with allergy issues. It does a great job.

    Video shows how simple it is to prepare for use. There was no mention of how much the replacement filters cost and how long the filters usually last before you have to replace them. In the unit I had filters lasted about 3 to 4 months and were $25. each (depending on what you needed them to do). I noticed a 3 pack on Amazon for $29 but did not see any details on whether they were for allergens, dust, pet dander etc. As far as I know it is the filters that determine what effect you get from the unit. Thanks for video and please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

    I have three of these units but the filters are quite expensive. Do the China knockoffs compare to the same Honeywell filters. Any ideas?

    • @OnTheWorkbench
      @OnTheWorkbench  Před 2 lety +1

      Depends on how much you trust the labeling and how dust sensitive you are. I've used both Honeywell and no-name filters and can't tell the difference. The key in my opinion is changing the pre-dinner every 2-3 months.

    I have a quick question please, say If I use two carbon pre filters at the same time (put them in the place of one) will it filter out odor better. I have cooking odor issues hence this question

    • @OnTheWorkbench
      @OnTheWorkbench  Před 3 lety

      Yes and no. Doubling up the charcoal air filter will catch a little more odor but the increase thickness will decrease the amount of air it can pull through the unit, and I'm not sure the front door can latch with two pre filters. I think you are better off making sure the white hepa filters are recently replaced (and your furnace filter too).

    • @whiteviper1979
      @whiteviper1979 Před 2 lety

      Yes the Honeywell is recommended for allergies!!! But you will need a powerful vaccum cleaner as well! I highly recommend Kirby or Riccar vaccum cleaners! Do not buy overpriced junk like Dyson!!! Kirby and Riccar vaccum cleaners are the best investments!!!

    Hi.. I have another question, Can I use a cool mist humidifier in the same room as this air purifier. Will the air filters be impacted by extra moisture?

    • @OnTheWorkbench
      @OnTheWorkbench  Před 3 lety +1

      I don't see why not. However I would not face the humidifier directly toward the air cleaner. Just don't set the humidifier a setting intended for a large room while actually in a smaller room and this over-humidifying the air.

    • @ManjitSandhu
      @ManjitSandhu Před 3 lety

      @@OnTheWorkbench Thank you for a prompt response. Not clear why you are suggesting "over humidifying" the air" Kindly explain your rationale behind that suggestion (or did I misunderstand it)
